Good the cops stopped you from coming down the Kalhatti ghats. It's very steep once the hair pin starts and you will not enjoy the beauty while coming down because your eyes will be glued onto the road. If your vehicle's brake fails, then God help you.

The other route, disallowed by the police is risky and is full of hairpin bends. Those vehicle which have Ooty numberplate are allowed, since they are well versed in driving in such steep road. We had a bad experience once as our brakeplate got jammed due to heat because of constant use of brake and clutch on this road once. The longer route that you were forced to take by the policeman is wider and safer. So, thank the policeman for that.

I found the city centre very very ugly. In the biological park there were so many rowdies, they were also in Karnataka Gardens (its beautiful), dare I say they were all from a community I cant name. However as soon as we exited city, it was so beautiful. If you are going to ooty stay outside the city in a resort.
