Great conversation and music on your trip. Lot's of good people and jackasses everywhere you go.
Lol I ate a jackrabbit once out that way and the sand was even in the meat 😂
Thanks for all your effort in putting this video together. Good job.
Thank you
Well congrats…you’ve made it to a big feed
Thanks
Great stuff!
Thanks!
It’s been about a month. Thanks
Is this recent? Heading up this weekend! Water looks high!
Nice
Having worked in HOLLYWOOD for over 40 years, I was determined being a western fan to take a four-state western movie location tour that I planned out in 2019... Started with the Grand Canyon "Rails to the Rim" train ride; then Monument Valley both staying at the Gouldings Lodge and then The View cabins... didn't take a camper, but in Monument Valley hired a Navajo guide for $400 cash (they only take cash) and went off-road... Rode horses in the Valley just like THE SEARCHERS. From there to Moab, Utah where we took the speed boat ride on the Colorado River, then a 2hr. private horse ride... checked out all the movie locations! Then, onto Colorado and TRUE GRIT's locations including the iconic shootout meadow and court house in Ouray. Followed that with the greatest, most scenic train ride in our lives on the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, as seen in so many movies including BUTCH CASSIDY & THE SUNDANCE KID. Having been the studio historian for 20th Century-Fox I knew all about where that was shot. Visited locations in New Mexico, shown around BONANZA CREEK RANCH by the owner, sadly this is where the infamous RUST movie was later shot. Remember the 1969 western MACKENNAS GOLD, well we paid another Navajo guide even more cash to explore it's main location in Canyon de Chelly. Back in Arizona to Sedona, helicopter ride above it's magnificent rocks, hiked through Oak Creek Canyon. Needless to say it was quite a trip. You two give a good presentation, if you had taken the road uphill behind Gouldings Lodge you would've discovered the iconic rock that John Wayne and his group encounter the Indians who were trailing them. In real-life a good many were killed by toxic Uranium mining.... Anyway, thought I'd comment as no one else got around to it... HAPPY TRAILS on the road to you both!
This is a great list for movie buffs who want to know some insider places to visit. Thanks so much
Full up, stay the fuck out
No more secret places to go. Internet ruined everyone of them by the dozens.
I went to summer camp nearby for several years. Actually, Graeagle was the site of a working lumber mill then, and I suppose the lake was the original holding pond for the mill’s tree stock. The general store was a favorite stop for ice cream, fishing supplies, etc., and today looks just about as I remembered it. Yes, truly a lovely place.
There are hundreds of towns in California like this, and many even nicer.
Very beautiful. State of Jefferson? No bueno
Bogus music! It doesn’t match the picturesque views!
Is that where the beginning of Commando was filmed ?
Thx for posting and making it not secret anymore
So don’t post it keep it that way.
my sister used to live there, she too said its the best secret and living in Montana before, enjoyed her time there. Now in Prescott Valley Ariz she loves that place!!
Still in Liberal Kommiefornia.
The only secret places anymore, have people who don’t tell or show where they live. My town hasn’t been ruined yet, but we all keep our mouths and posting under control. It’s beautiful up there, I’ve camped all around that area. Many years ago, I’m sure it’s not the same anymore 😔
Used to go to an A.A. Meeting there, upstairs above a bar, 1987-89. Only place I have seen a mountain lion. Really good craft fair there. Lived in Portola CA., dozen miles west, where if you wanted a job, you had to inherit a chainsaw.
The problem is, there’s not a lot of lakes in California compared to the Midwest states upper Midwest states and the amount of people that are in California It’s very hot. At Grey Eagle
You let the cat out of the bag. Lived there for 5 years.
Why don't you live there anymore? Those places lack jobs and infrastructure for people to move there
Music not needed
Social media has ruined this country
I’ll pass, looks more reservoir trailer park, like clear lake ca
Been going there since 81' . Thanks for telling more Bay area and Nevada people about it. They've already flooded it.
Ditto! In the early 80’s we camped along Frazier Creek once or twice each summer. Great campground, but gone now. And we only saw a handful of friendly locals when we went into town. 👍
American land is for all the citizens. Do you go other places ever?
You want untouched magic? The Texas Hill Country and Big Bend Areas. Best of Texas!
Only hills and little water there. And you don't even want to talk about property taxes in Texas. They're absolutely atrocious.
Produced by real estate agents and or chamber of commerce for sure. As a CA resident I’ve driven through it many times… always get the impression it’s just way overbuilt by big money & lost all its soul. Looks more like a newly built retirement community, not beautiful as the narrator tries to hype it as. So many better places.
The background music is too loud
Looks nice. Would definitely enjoy a visit. Then I'd realize I can't get what I want in town because its tiny, I have very limited choice, the food and drink is mediocre because there's practically no competition, and then I'd want to be back in a city where I go to a store 24-hours a day and get what I want at 20 different places, or maybe watch a movie at any of a half-dozen theaters, or go to 20 different bars, 40 restaurants.... California is a land of convenience and choice, and small towns don't have it. But they sure are good for a break from population and to unwind. Ask the teenagers who live there how much they like the place, and whether they ever expect to leave. One man's paradise is another's prison. All that said... added to my list for a visit/short stay. :D Everyone else, don't be fooled - don't come... I mean go there.
I knew a guy named Roy who moved there 40 years ago! 👍
LOL, you did exactly what I thought needed to be done when you added that strap! This is definitely a lightweight gamechanger, but it's not going to prevent theft (which is, unfortunately, something you need to think about). This won't work with my rig, but I'm glad that someone is making a "bike rack" that's changing the weight game at least. Thanks for sharing!
Hardly a secret with mobs of loud families wearing flip flops.
Dang, another spot that’s not a secret anymore, time to find another secluded spot . Loose lips sink ships.
Music not needed
Apparently you have not been there in summer.....Sorry the secret is out and It's overcrowded
"Best kept secret" that you just shared with millions! 🤣🤣🤣
Do you know how much land is up there that looks just like that? Just drive to Lassen National Park and there is empty, beautiful land all over the place. Not even any towns.
I just looked up where it is. A big hike from the Bay Area.
@@KingfisherTalkingPictures I guess these places are pretty close to Sacramento, but for some reason few people move there. I'm sure people would if they founded towns and cities. But that doesn't happen anymore nowadays
"it's the true old west." With an 18-hole golf course, condos, and trailer parks. The BS could be left off and just a description of what it is, is all that is required.
Not a secret anymore! Traitor
Thanks for the video, I think I’ll get there fast and take it slow:)
Spent several summers here in the late 1960's.
Not much of a secret. Overcrowded.
and this vid won't help
If I want about 5 million in the lottery, I'd move there! The place looks heavenly!
Used to play in a Golf tourney up there...haven't been in 28 years!!! My time flies!!
Used to mow lawns for the homeowner’s association on Plumas Pines Golf Course in 1987. Bosses wife worked at the clubhouse. Bill was his name? They didn’t let me mow the lawn of Alva, homeowners association president. Has a beautiful low rent area with isolated cabins in a gorgeous setting.
I went to Bodie with the Bohannon's in 1972, I still have a Prince Albert can from there....
Nice!!
