TALKING TO THE ALMOST COWS

Talking to calves who are getting close to becoming cows hence ALMOST COWS. I was hoping to video them on top of the piles of shit; but none of them were on top. They were just getting done with eating. In the background you can see the mixer being pulled along the feeding troughs.

Seafair has been an event every year at Lake Washington for decades. Besides the Hydroplane boat races, the Navy Blue Angeles and other airplane groups perform in between hydro races. At around the 6 min mark those are NOT beets being dug, that is potatoes, those are potato diggers. Later around 8 minute those are beet harvesters. Also the piles you are calling dirt from fields are not dirt. The large piles outside of sugar beet factories are actually a byproduct of the sugar manufacturing process called Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC). PCC is a solid waste product created by mixing lime with raw juice from sugarbeets. The large, flat-topped piles outside Amalgamated Sugar factory locations are not dirt at all, but a material called Precipitated Calcium Carbonate, or PCC. PCC is a solid byproduct of the sugar manufacturing process If you don’t know what your talking about don’t guess and put wrong information out.
you are correct about the potatoes. I must have been lied to about the piles of "dirt". I know nothing about the process of making the sugar. I drove for Transystems for only three seasons and have never worked in the factory as I assume you have. Which factory do you work in? But where is the real dirt; they must clean the beets, right, or does the PCC pile also contain the dirt?? Also, I think most people who watch this are ignorant about everything to do with farming and sugar making, so what does it matter much if the digger is for potatoes or beets? You are probably too young to remember when potatoes were put in sacks by workers in the field who picked them up from the ground by hand. Harvesting has come a long way since I was a kid in the 1950s and 60s. Most of my adult time was spent bombing babies in Vietnam, working at Boeing and the phone company in Puget Sound and a little bit here in Idaho since moving back 20 years ago after retiring.
@ there is some dirt in the lime piles, most of the dirt gets hauled back out by the growers as they haul beets in. The rest goes out with the wash water and then into settling ponds and is eventually returned or sold as part of the water treatment process. Beet factories are remarkably efficient. From what I know about the lime piles is there is only limited use for it, I read somewhere that some of it used in asphalt or road construction. I’ve never understood why the pile at twin falls is so large compared to one the one at Paul. I apologize if I was rude, I get tired of watching videos that appear interesting then are full of mis-information. My 6 year old is very interested in where other foods come from and how they are made (she only sees us raise hay & barley, and my brother who works on a spud farm) so this week we’ve been watching about sugar. I’d just watched a part of video about sugar cane that was awful, then watched an Amalgamated Sugar video then yours was suggested. I worked several beet harvests with a roommate from college 15+ years ago in American Falls. At the time I wasn’t sure what to do after college and looked into working at the Paul plant. got a tour and applied for an internship and then I had some major health issues and that drastically changed my plans.
14 years ago. We were all a little younger then.
Yes we were!
thank you for the video .. have worked Montana sugar beets for many years now .
oh .. hey i grew up in Mountain home .. I love Idaho .

Bell bottom long pants 😄😆😁😀 yeah 1977
Nice film . You look kinda like me almost lol . I enjoyed your videos
Thanks for watching. It too bad I didn't have sound with these old 8mm films. Seems like another life! That baby boy is going on 53 now!!
@@terrynelson2385 No problem . How is he lady in the video doing ???
That 76 year woman is the baby's mother and she is in the latest video I posted "She gets blown up".

beautiful archive!
Thanks. It would have been nice to have had sound.
Is that Motorola equipment or GE? Kinda reminds me of the MASTR PRO line of receivers. The back sides of th3 card deck looks a lot like the older Motorola circuit boards. I ran both Motorola Micor and GE MASTR II repeaters in the past, the good old days when radios had decent RX preselectors.
This is from 1990 and the equipment was older than that. I think they were all Motorola.
Cougar mountain? Sounds like an 80’s rock concert. Nice video! Thanks for sharing! 😅
Cougar is east of Seattle and is several hundred feet above the valley below. There is another mountain called "Tiger Mt".
Dad used to work on these, remember them as a kid going to the sites, id be about 7 years old, rip ahole 😂
What is this?
"Ham Radio" two way radio repeater system. Did you watch all of the video?

Looks Exactly like one my dad made back in the day here in Wyoming for somebody.
Good video. I enjoyed watching it.
Thanks. It was interesting to be part of that group.
Mormons got to Utah and waged war on all the tribes. Brigham Young gave an extermination order and started the Black Hawk War. Mormons were aggressive racists. They didn't stop discriminating against people until 1978.
Ive been up there since i was born with my dad we normally camp down at the bottom near the hangin tree for elk hunting
Is this near naches
Yes, its the area between Hwy 410 and US 12. There is a feeding station on the north side of highway 12 before the junction of Hwy 410. From the feeding station (Oak Creek) you can drive up to Cougar Canyon and on to Bethel Ridge and then on down to Hwy 410 where the gas station and restaurant are. That is the main area we used to hunt in. But it has been many years since I've been there. I have other videos that show hunting and feeding the elk. If I remember correctly the gas station was called the "Wood shed".
love the angels
Yes, they are great. The F18s are interesting. I think I like the F4s better when they used to fly those. My Navy squadron went to El Centro, California for gunnery training where the Blue Angles had their winter home at that time, 55 years ago! Thanks for watching.
Fish fry time
If I remember right (this was 1988) my Aunt Caroline did fry those fish up. We were all visiting them when we lived in Washington State. I was using my father's VHS camera. My father died earlier that year, he was 68 years old. So far I've outlived him by 8 years (did you watch my tractor video?) Thanks RIP.

Rope is not a good end insulator ....should be ceramic.. Due to length; the radiation will be moved toward the axis of the wire. It will be bidirectional unless terminated in a resistor....then unidirectional. The limited height will make 80/40 meter signals to take off at a higher angle than on the horizon; limiting those DX goodies at the lower radiation angles.
maybehaps the rope is part of the radiation! Don't care anymore. Not active. it makes a good Utube video right. So go make your own.
Nice set up.
thanks
I'm in Mohave County AZ, looking to do something similar. Nice work.

Golden days of elk hunting right here! This is the equivalent of duck hunting in the 1950s. No big money hunting rigs, or Overland expedition vehicles. No camo shaming or brand ambassadors. Just regular everyday guys camping and hunting. We got to get back to this as a group. I know there's still plenty of folks out there hunting on a working man's budget, but alot of people are trying to impress rather than enjoy the experience. Miss the good ol days
Indeed. Unfortunately a lot of good hunting area is owned or controlled by rich and hunting clubs. I don't hunt anymore because of health problems, oh well it was fun when I could.
Fantastic film.
