    Shout out to NW Indiana for being dry in your comment - Thanks! Besides being DRY our water holding capacity is low, so crops are stressed. In response to your question about bean yields being hurt - in our area, for sure. I feel like 10-20% "loss" from potential is a good guess, depending on the maturity of beans, fertility program, etc. Time will tell for certain, but the outlook isn't great.

    Here in Western Canada we had 30-40 degrees Celsius for pretty much all summer, with zero rain for 50 days. Now we got 1.5 inches since last Sat. Typical, crops gets fried, cools, then starts raining. Oh well most the cereals are feed anyway, with very poor yields and test weights.

    nw central ohio. i think we are loosing volume already. i did some looking for this field, but the bean leaves are 80% shed. guessing planted april 6-14. i've seen other beans changing yellow, my beans are about to give it up also, with in a week, still no august rain. while looking for that bean field, i found some completely brown corn thats going to yield 120-140 at best, short stubby ears all dropped. so that is 40-60 bushel shrink from prediction and 20-40 bushel less than the adjacent fields. he had a good stand, just missed more than 60 days of rain. this was a early planted field but at the map edge of the late 1/3 planting from rain delays. then it just went dry. he just got screwed. i havent made it up into the really late planted 1/3 corn areas recently [south of marion to west mansfield]. but i expect usda is going to have some explaining to do. i'm starting to think 3rd cutting hay wont happen. maybe a manure pump and a nozzle would be nice for a irrigation pivot. manure pea from the lagoon and drain the pond every year is starting to sound like a good idea.

    • @sandsock
      @sandsock 7 часов назад

      @@ryanmarkey5012 we were dry already and didn't put any 2nd crop out. That's what the weather was trending. Local around the block did put some out and they are trying to pod out. I think if you were to shred the straw as mulch. Double crop makes more sense and would be more forgiving . We did have good success with grazing wheat early and planting in time beans . We even mowed wheat that was pre milk stage. Baled that up , uninsured and no fert. Had hay mix broadcast in there and just got that small squared. I think that came off earlier than normal. The wheat hay is probably worth more than the grain

    Crop report: not sure how much what we do is relatable, we march to the beat of a different drum. Northern Illinois, organic, no till, very short variety (74-75 day) based on genetics out of the Nebraska Land Grant Collegiate System, crossed with other non patented modern genetics. We pull off some silage and high moisture corn. After that, we trailed our 7 year average by 10 bushels, and we trail conventional commodity corn by 25 bushels on average. My prediction is a very slightly below average crop. Not a disaster by any means, but not what is being predicted. Could this spike a bull run? That’s for this channel and its panel of experts to say.

    • @thomaslthomas1506
      @thomaslthomas1506 10 часов назад

      That's very interesting. We are in northern New England. We are growing an old variety. We have managed to get it down to about 80 days. And gotten the ear slightly longer. We are trying to keep our stalks short as well, Lodge is a huge problem here. I'd say we don't do over 65 bushels per acre with this variety. But we are growing for higher nutrition content as well. So lots of trade offs. Niche markets.

      @@bd64201 it hasn’t and won’t increase the market for corn. That’s a lie. The goalposts will move. They are in control. It’s how they can more than effective regulate a commoditized market. The inception of ethanol, which obviously created the plants that are now needing to ‘fuel’ the carbon pipeline, had a much greater impact on the corn market in current account terms: yet, our market sits at $3.50 today for a bushel. Tell me, has this had a net positive affect on our market? $1 million combines that lose tremendously over a couple years of operation? Land that you speak of that sells for 4,5,6x higher than currebt cash rent market equivalent. Not to mention this is your tax dollars, stolen from you, only to be used against you to fuel the profit machine of businesses/industries (in this case manufactured industry) that make your net worth so meaningless that they’ll run you in the hole at the snap of a finger, along with the rest of us, and not lose a single nights worth of sleep.

      @GrainMarketsandOtherStuff pro farmer and the government. I don't see them stealing any other corporations private data and releasing it to the public.

    Don’t hear much about all the soybean crush plants that were being built, wondering what the status on those are? Waiting for government to legislate demand for renewables? Did any of those projects get shelved?

    Camle Harris, Tampon Tim, Obama, Biden : LOL at AMERICAN Farmers as they hope to tax American farmers out and off the planet. Will RFK jr. join Trump? Will he become food Czar? Knock out Pesticides in food and lower production of grains and fruit? Allowing farmers a choice to help crops and people with nutrition.

    Beans look really good around here, east central Illinois but I’m terrible at guess yields until we get in them with the combine.

    still no rain in nw central ohio or most of the rest of the state. i was sitting in the yard last night and you could just see my first corn field turn brown. i'm coming up with 50-75% loss/less of normal rain for the last 60 days. yards mostly brown , hay may not make a 3rd cutting

    I continue to hear bad news about corn in north and south Carolina. USDA's 100 bushel average will be too high. The rains we got in july after a very very dry june were too late

      I'm sad to hear how bad it is there but early combining videos show it is. I have a question since you brought this out. Last year during drought all we heard was how great these new hybrids are and that they would produce amazing yields no matter the drought. Hence the 177 bpa? Do y'all plant these same hybrids and if so what has happened? Or are we being propagandized on these hybrids? I used to farm and we could raise 200 bpa with $75 a bag seed not $300. And we didn't have to spray fungicide and insecticide all the time. Has the prescription writing medical profession modus operandi infiltrated American agriculture? Appreciate your take on these items.

      @@HillCountry11 north Carolina has different soil than the areas of the Midwest, ours being mostly clay based or sandy soils. Heavy rains in May led to poor stands, and what did survive didn't put down good root systems that went deep before the rains shut off in the first week of June. June is the primary pollination time for most corn grown in NC, with the corn not having good pollination on the majority of it. By the time the rains returned in the first week of July, it was past the point of helping the majority of corn do anything. Pioneer, NK, and asgrow I would think are the primary seeds that get put in here. In the same way there was supposedly a perfect storm of plant dates and just in time rains for those areas in the Midwest last year, it was the opposite for us this year. In 2021 we had corn in some fields that was 15 ft tall. The average height this year was barely 5 ft of I had to guess. On bushels, the average for NC is about 140, so it is lower anyways

      @@HillCountry11Yes we are being propagandized, the new genetics can pollinate better through stress and have traits that protect yield loss from disease and pests but it still requires a certain amount of water to produce a crop. Out here the west we plant some of the same hybrids that are used in “I states” and they yielded in the single digits last year and turned brown and died first week of August this year. What certain areas call drought some other areas might consider kinda dry. Also we had about 15 days with temps last year at 100 to 108, it’s heat with drought that kills yield completely.
