Tanooki suit has a similar effect. I recommend having that and the lucky cat suit readily available. Lucky cat suit can destroy the spikes and fuzzies in a later section of the level while the tanooki suit will help with your platforming greatly.

I honestly think it’s just easier to use stock Mario than power ups… if you get used to the timing it’s incredibly easy. I can one shot this level every time with no power ups… I usually take 1 hit on the final course with all the speed boost
