I was so excited when I finally found one. I went almost 2 years between finding the 17 in one night this spring. Thanks for watching. I'm not sure what makes the red one glow, but I kept it also. I just started learning about rocks a few years ago and find it fun.

It was a blast. We didn't find any at all last year. I wanted to get up there early this year, and we got lucky.

Nice yooperlites! The only ones we find are the size of quarters, nickels, dimes, and smaller!

The water seemed high to me. I've been trying to go ounce a month when the weather is good. Hopefully, I can find somewhere in Wisconsin. I haven't had much luck n years past is why I had up there. Fingers crossed for 2025.

@@firechicken455adventures not legally. You will have to follow the normal prospecting laws for the state. The special use permit was for being able to use special equipment (recirculating systems) on the beach. Not sure how much of the shore line is affected by the ban.

I called also, and they are anticipating it to be open again next year.....figures crossed.

Hopefully they open it back up in the future.

I have not yet, but I will this week. Good thing my main reason for this trip was yooperlite hunting. Hopefully, all of the people who go camping up there to prospect know about it.

I called today and talked to a lady named Nicole. She said it is closed because of low water levels to protect cultural artifacts. They are anticipating reopening it next year. Time will tell.

@firechicken455adventures I haven't been up yet, but did it look like low water levels?? Pretty shur it's never been higher. And I thought it was just on Google news saying it was high......hmmmm.sounds like b.s. already 🤐🤬👎👎

That is my hope also. I need to do some research on a new spot. I haven't had any luck yet in Wisconsin creeks.

You can use a battery-powered sluice at Muskallonge Lake State Park as long as the water is contained. You fill out a permit at the camp office, which is free. It has all the rules to follow.
