Thought I'd document my scratch practice seeing as I'm getting back into it. Its literally how I practice my scratching when I'm trying to scratch again. This is the full 4 mins, I'll upload a few #shorts of the snippets. Hope you enjoy. The instrumental is a QBert track called Sneak Attack. Its recorded from vinyl hence the lovely vinyl quality. @thudrumble

    Would you say the live 2 and an 88 key midi keyboard would be a better setup than just a 88 key digital piano? I want something I can play like a piano but also have access to a lot more sounds than a digital piano can provide.

    OG flare can sound dittrent depending on sharpness of record movement and crossfader. What you performed sounded more like an 1 click flare. Need to get that transform click in after the close to get that defined OG flare 2 sounds on the forward 1 back on the open.

      @@JohnnyCrump thank you really appreciate it, only thing I think can keep making progression is to keep drills on grind, my work out as of late is shortening the movement to very tight spaces and getting the 2 clicks in succession back n fwd but being very focused on including the 4th sound on the back motion always hit 1-2-3-miss4-hit5-6 then burst all 6 slots to then miss the 4th again, definitely a timing issue in record hand, think it's just a crazy amount of repetition to lock it in , I am right handed but my left hand on the crossfader so it's the weak hand, guess that's why it's taking forever that's my conclusion anyway, I'll keep at it, funny I can hold more cycles with boomerangs with tears spaced out inbetween linking into some autos with tears also, but that dang 2 click orbit of fast succession crazy hard to stay in the circular sound relaxed but pinching that fader all at once, but yeah Johnny just a rant from a dude determined to get good at scratching, so when I see people making it look easy I just imagine the countless time to become one with the crossfader, such a small window to dance in when getting into that doubletime world,

    yooooo your tears/knuckle scrubs are smooth as fk on that record hand also, seen a boomerang video years ago(think was your page) you got me inspired to learn it, well all these years later can only hold fast yielding cycles for 4 or 5 orbits before turning to mush, really is such a difficult instrument to unlock the patterns, the kicker sadly most patterns don't give the satisfying vibe until snapped into that double syno speed, you remember a scratch mixer in your early time of drills... when wear the face plate down to smooth steel under neath making almost like a shallow sunken pool from constantly rubbing, that's where my rane tt56 mixer is at now haha

      always appreciate the skill when hearing clean articulated double time patterns am still trying to dial them in myself, takes mucho practice, I'm sure you're been down many musically paths but more journeys into the scratch lane even recording your syths drums and bouncing them into stems then scratch them all back up creating trippy syncopation, but I know it's a saturated concept most things have been done before guess the key is to find your lil signature that makes you different from the rest and roll with that, you clearly are very good on the turntables and put in the hard yards takes sooooo long to clean up that fader thumb right!! salute to you Johnny @@JohnnyCrump

    • @JohnnyCrump
      @JohnnyCrump 7 месяцев назад

      Hi, ok, just need to get my head around this first. So are you saying the latency increases the more the demand on the cpu? If so, that’s normal. Also, when your hardware goes out of sync, are they all out of sync together i.e. all delayed by the same amount? A way around latency issues can be the use of direct monitoring - to a degree anyway. There’s a lot of possibilities here, but if you could give me some more info, I reckon I can help. Cheers

    Im trying to connect three synths to the mpc live. BUT, I wamt to use each synth as its own controller. In otherwords, play each synths keybed and knobs and have the mpc play all three synths back. But I dont want to use midi thru, because i dont want to use one synth as a controller, i wamt to play each synth and overdub each synth at a time. So mpc i program drums and percussion And each synth I can play and record into the mpc. Then play it all back. Is this possible?

      I am looking for the same kind of configuration, i would MPC midi seq could control 4 synths at the same times separately without midi through. Maybe using usb / Midi as others 2 midi out? In this video usb/midi is a specific connection that is read by minifreak. I didn't understand if we could use usb out / midi in to a synth with just midi in/out.

    • @TheStaubzauger
      @TheStaubzauger 6 месяцев назад

      I own an MPC one with multiple external synths. Sounds like you want to play each synths own keybed (notes), then you want the MPC to receive those notes and record them on a track. Once the bar repeats, the MPC plays back your notes, you stop playing yourself or go overdub some new notes? Correct? It’s MIDI into the MPC in that case. Create 3 MIDI tracks. Select your synths MIDI channel inside the MPC MIDI track an hit record. You can play your synth, the MPC will record notes. BUT the key is, where is your audio going to? This video shows an audio interface that sends the Audio i back into the Mpc. On audio tracks. So you turn your MPC into an audio mixer as well. I don’t, I Connect each synths audio Out into an external mixer. So my MPC use is only MIDI notes and start stop for the synths. I personally choose to control my synths with the MPC keypads, to get more creative outcomes (note repeats, chords, grid offsets,random rhythms etc) m With USB you can go both ways I guess. But synth needs to be USB equipped. 🌪️👍 hope this helps! 12 Month ago I was clueless myself…

    • @djpopcorn
      @djpopcorn 6 месяцев назад

      @@TheStaubzauger The problem is, I need THREE midi outs and THREE MIDI ins for that configuration I mentioned. And Mpc Live doesn't have three.. Yes, I also use an analog external mixer. But I just want to play each of my keybeds and record into the sampler a couple bars and then go to the other keyboard and do the same. And then go to the other keyboard and do the same. Seems like such an easier way to write a song, if I can figure out how to hook it all up.
