Florida is Flooding!!!, Why??My Opinion
Просмотров 6694 месяца назад
Just my thoughts of WHY the Daytona/Ormand Loop Scenic trail has been flooding more & more. The building in Florida has been nonstop, just plain crazy! The even bigger problem is causing a insane increase to the house and auto Insurance. If you are moving to Florida, Please do your Homework!! Make sure that your not building in a area that was previously a swamp! Make sure that you house is not...

What about soap
@@JosephYoung-o7k Sure, it’s always worth a shot! Regular Dawn dish soap seems to work the best for me, I’ve personally used it for cleaning inside & outside of many parts! It always depends on how long the fuel was in the tank, it sometimes turns to a type of Shellac or varnish which the soap won’t cut. But try it 1st, just don’t steal the 1 from the kitchen!🤪 Thanks for watching and checking out my channel! Ride Safe!!
Nice find. I like the dash and console on older vehicles.
Thanks Ed! I agree, the dash & console layout is pretty cool. My uncle was down in Apopka yesterday to Southeast Chevy( it’s a junkyard) to pickup some glass & plastic parts for the dash. Overall, a really unbelievable SOLID Body ! Thanks for watching!!
So the vinnie won’t damage the clear coat and paint
@@mrantone916 The paint on that bike is over 30 years old, & it didn’t suffer any damage . I would still be cautious when using vinegar, it is an acid. I’ve used it on small engine gas tanks as well without any damage, & I’m pretty sure there was No clear coat. Try to avoid spillage when filling tanks up, if you do, I’d rinse immediately with water &/or water and baking soda to neutralize the vinegar. Thanks for checking out my channel & best of luck!
We love the Silos!
@@timothystorrs4126 Definitely a cool space, really great concept for a Brewery. We really dig when people decide to use an old commercial space for their business. In my neck of the woods, they are demolishing them on a daily basis!! Thanks for watching, ride safely & Cheers!🍺
I’m getting ready to clean my tank on a 01 road king that’s been sitting about 7 years…..it’s got what looks to be an old coating on it. Will this work to get the rest of the coating off? Most of it is flaking off and peeled already. I ran some air through it
@@ChristopherRobin-o3r It removed the coating that was in my tank, but mine was the coating from 1978(46 years of braking down!) I would definitely give it a try( don’t forget, throw some small chain, bolts, nuts, nails, anything that may help to loosen that crap up, but not too much or big, you don’t want to dent the tank!)Remember if yours is fuel injected, pull the pump. Vinegar is a pretty good cleaner, it’s never let me down. There are companies that sell chemicals to do the same process, but I’m always cautious about how caustic they are. You always have the option of having a radiator shop hot tank them, but it may ruin your paint. Let me know how you make out! Thanks for watching my video and checking out my channel! Ride Safe!! So I started cleaning out my tanks. Let the vinegar sit for two days dumped it. Had old bolts thrown in it as well rattled them around didn’t get it all out so I got some more vinegar repeated got allot more out but there is still some rust and a section of the old coating left in there. Should I put more vinegar in and let it sit longer than 2 days? I also have a flexible drill attachment and a wire brush I was considering on putting down in there
@@h3ad_tr9p Sounds like you’re making headway! I’d probably try letting the vinegar sit in a few days. I’ve never tried cleaning one with a flexible drill brush, but it sounds promising as well. I look at it this way… you have nothing to lose! I’m always looking at buying new tanks, but try all this cleaning 1st. I really thought those last tanks would not clean out, they had been sitting in a garage in Pennsylvania for over 30 years. I was already on the JP Cycle site with tanks in my cart, just in case. But luckily again, the process worked!! I’ll keep my fingers crossed & say a Hail Mary or two for you!! Good luck!!
@ yeah unfortunately I didn’t look at the size of the brush lol little bit bigger than the inlet for the gas. So I grabbed more vinegar. Oh well it’s cheap and definitely effective and cleaned up my old bolts 🤣 been sticking the bolts on my Harley in it knocking out two birds with one stone.
@ tried again no rust but that gray coating is still stuck to some of the crevices. I tried filling half way up and shaking nutts and bolts in it still nada.

I'm thinking of doing a tank liner on my classic bike will the baking soda damage the paint ? Great video btw
I personally never had any problems from using baking soda. I do know of & have read that many people use baking soda for all types of gently cleaning. Remember, you really only using it to neutralize/rinse the inside of the tank. What ever residue of it that gets on the outside of the tank, you should be able to wash off with soap and water. As always, take your time while cleaning! I’m not a professional shop, but I’ve used this process for many years with great results and zero issues, just trying to help others who want to do it themselves! Thanks so much for your kind words & checking out my channel! Good luck & ride safe!!! Springer
Np I'll just have to get brave and do it thanks again for the info how much baking soda roughly would you use for a tank ?
@@Bernard-l8j usually around 2 cups of baking soda, mix it with a couple gallons of distilled water 1 st before pouring into tanks. @@BreakAwayFromUK I agree, along with greedy developers, local & state officials who just see $ signs!
You just described the history of Florida. Swampland magically transformed into valuable real estate subject to episodic flooding. Those retention ponds are dug to get fill to raise the ground where the houses are. You can see the houses are a minimal height above the normal water table, so they will flood in every major storm for sure. Most state governments wouldn't allow building in a hazard area, but Florida is so corrupt (especially to real estate corporations) its people trying to buy that starter home who are the victims.
@@ninehundreddollarluxuryyac5958 Thanks for watching & checking out my channel. What we see is blatantly obvious to me & you, but to all the developers & local/state officials , they just see $$$! It’s terrible that to see this happening. Unfortunately it’s impacting other communities to flooding as well! It Sucks that no one seems willing to step up to stop this over development of the state. , & now there is talk about developing golf/hotel resorts on our state campgrounds. Just Stinks!!!
Awesome Explanation Video!! Thank you. I did all of these steps. After rinsing the water/baking soda out and then adding diesel/oil, How do I completely empty the diesel out of the tank. It still seems like there is a bit moving around inside the tank. Should I now just add a bit of gasoline into the tank to make sure that I completely flush out all of the diesel? Then place tank back on bike and fill with gasoline? I was concerned with still slightly having a bit of diesel mixed with gasoline. 2008 Honda Shadow Aero 750 Fuel Injection Thank you very much
@@TrevorChenier Thanks so much for watching my video & such kind words! I can suggest a few options. (1) You can put some lint free towels in the tank & flip the tank up and down. Or (2) you can rinse tank again with gas. I personally only fill tanks with gas & run with it. But I must say I’ve only done this process with carbureted bikes and small engines. It will smoke a bit, & you might have to clean/change plugs, but that’s it. I’m pretty old school with my hot rods & Harley’s . I can’t imagine any issues with what little oil is left in the tanks, but I hate like Hell to say it’s full proof. Try it at your own risk! I don’t want you mad with me, so be careful. I've been living in Melbourne Florida since 1969, and I can confirm your claims 100%. The state & local govt's are allowing these greedy land developers to hastily construct housing developments with VERY LITTLE thought & consideration to WHERE all of the rain run-off is going to go ( not to mention all of the fertilizers used ), after they bring in all of the fill dirt to raise the elevation for building all of these sub-divisions. They should be legally FORCED to dig FAR MORE retention ponds & lakes that are quite deep, in and around every subdivision, and also force them to install pumps in every water body, which uses water from each pond/lake itself to be used as fountains, which will keep those water bodies from becoming stagnant & minimizes weed growth & algae. The HOA fees could pay for running & maintaining those pumps. Decades ago, if you dug a pond over a certain size, it was the law that you HAD TO stock that pond with native species of fish.......namely bass & bluegill. But I'm told the state changed that law. If they got back to doing that along with all of the above, the flooding would be greatly reduced and would even create more & better freshwater fishing opportunities. But as of right now, they're only digging a bare minimum of these retention ponds, and they are quite shallow. GREED is rapidly destroying Florida. They should also make it ILLEGAL to sod the yards of all these new homes with grass that requires "DAILY WATERING" and force them to plant native grasses & plants that DON'T require so much watering. All of this watering & fertilizers are destroying Florida's precious aquifer & river systems too. They should also be forced to leave areas of trees & other natural vegetation in and around every subdivision.
& I agree 100% with you as well!! I’m glad to hear others agree with me on this subject. I mention it to others in conversation & people say it’s not that bad, Bull$*€t!! It’s costing everyone more money each & every year in insurance & taxes that this goes on! It’s ironic you mention that grass, take a look at the Villages south of Ocala, all St Augustine grass yards ( which takes tons of water & fertilizer to maintain). Florida is definitely changing & not so much for the better!! Thanks so much for watching my video, checking out my channel & commenting!! Springer

i love this place, used to go there with friends and family back in the day. :)
@@VoidData I agree, it’s pretty cool for a roadside attraction to still exist!! & I must admit, the campground was very nice, 100 times better than any other campground we’ve stopped at along I-95 in the past few years!!!
Great Bike and Great video . I have a similar story 81' Dyna Wide Glide Shovel stored away which I am eager to get around to as a retirement project , I will try send you some pictures , Best Regards , jonny
@@jonnysl6560 Thanks Jonny!! If you have a minute or two , check out my playlist on the Shovel. It also was stored away (about 25 years ago!) it’s been a labor of love! Just put some new shoes on it, may take it out for a spin tomorrow for the 4th! ( depending on temperature , it’s been Triple digits here in Florida, not a lot of fun having a hot air hairdryer blowing at ya!) You should post a video or some pics on RUclips ( let me know if you do) I too always liked to Shovel Wide Glide, that was definitely the start of some factory customs. Thanks again for watching my video & checking out my channel, & such kind words! Ride safe!! Frank
Hi Hippie! Love it! ❤

They give those away in japan and sell them in the states for 5k
That’s way too Funny!! I have Zero knowledge on import cars, I’m an American Steel/Harley guy. But I would drop a some Good American V-8 into 1 just for Shits & Grins!!🤣🤣
