considering all the factors that are involved with a successful movie I honestly think Mariah would be a major miscast...1 Mahalia and gospel is not "artsy or trendy" the way Billie and jazz is or was, young white art pop kids have always kept jazz young and fresh....while gospel has its limitations in "mainstream pop culture" so the movie isn't being targeted to that demographic, it's targeted to gospel loving folk who still respect the legacy of Mahalia...that audience needs something a bit more authentic than artistic...2 Mariah all hail the legend, but at this stage in her career that movie would be suicide, Hollywood made it so that the public wouldn't watch a movie that she is the star principle character, supporting character yes, but lead, that just seems like a stretch of reality. Diana Ross is the best female singer of all time I believe. Honestly since I started listening to her music especially the old Motown stuff I have never gotten tired of one song. Really the only music I've ever heard, that I can listen to over, and over, and never get bored. There is something about her, that is special and I really don't know what it is . I wonder if it is divine. She tops out at number one at everything she does whether it's acting or singing or simply expressing herself. This all comes from a 49 year old white male.

Love love love it!! I saw her coinert in the early 1990s. She put on such a terrific show. I just couldn't get cover how tiny she was. She was and still is a fantastic entertainer. Would love to see he again.
