I grew up in this mall. I was a loss prevention manager at the Carsons years ago. Crazy what time does.
Do you know when the mall will get demolished?
Per the Village of West Dundee, demolition can begin as early as 12-18 months from closure.

While I’m still disgusted with the demise of Sears.Spring Hill Mall holds a special place in my heart.especially in the former Bergner Weiss building.it was a special design and a thing of beauty. It brings a simpler time to me.especially the mall itself.I was not a fan however of the demolition of the former JCPenney wing.I believe it lead to change at Spring Hill Mall itself.not in a good way.i believe it lead to a change in foot traffic.the food court should have been saved and more should have been done to bring a tenant to the former JCPenney when it moved out.thank you for so many memories growing up.Spring Hill.

We were lucky to catch this on a demo day last March. Lots of people were parked and watching the building coming down. Sad really.
I may or may not have hopped a fence and taken a few bricks...
The store will finally be gone the 14th which means more store closures are coming soon.
I went back today to do another round of filming, and the signs at all the entrances said 4 days left. So there's a chance the last day might be Monday and not Sunday, but I won't bank on it.
The signs are probably outdated because Sears is so disorganized and a mess right now. Last I checked, Sunday is the final day.
@@CoolCatProductions-365 Disorganized is an understatement. It seems that they hired a group of teens to do some demolition inside the store. There was nothing stopping customers from walking into swinging hammers and falling wood as the racks of the shoe department got ripped apart.

This is honestly depressing to see. Been going to this mall all my life and it sucks seeing it in its current state of decay. I remember having the time of my life in the late 2000s and early 2010s before everything went to shit
Me too! This was my stomping ground. Despite not having many stores left, the local bus still stops there, so there are always people walking around. I'm not sure what the plans are for the mall now that it has been taken over by the Kohan Group.

Pains me to say it, but it is definitely in a death spiral. Starting to look a lot like Stratford--lots of vacancies.
CM Parker That is what I thought was going to happen. It would not surprise me if this mall is purchased by namdar at some point like Stratford was. On the round 1 website it also says the Stratford square location is closing.
Is there a new training store?
Not quite sure what you mean. There won't be a new Sears opening in DeKalb. This was it, although Sears was previously located across the street in the Northland Center after closing the original downtown location years prior and was also downsized from full line department store to hardlines and appliances only.
CM Parker that Store in this video was the “training store” for all the Sears Hometown owners. I just wonder why they closed that store?
@@truthseeker1181 Sales associate told me that sales were slow and they just couldn't compete with the other local appliance stores. Since Sears has bought back the Hometown stores from franchisees, they have closed several locations.

Here's the thing. It would have permanently closed on March 23rd. However, the state of Illinois implemented the Stay-at-Home order and closed all non-essential businesses two days before it was supposed to close. I highly doubt that when the order is lifted, this Macy's is going to operate for two days to finish off the sale. Drove by there the other day, and the exterior windows and doors are papered over and signage is removed so I believe it is done.

@@retailadventures6 It is, it actually shares some design cues with Louis Joliet Mall. Both were designed and built by Sears.

No, the building now sits boarded up and all signs are gone. Really good labelscars on it though.

oof..just wanted to tell you my friend got kicked out of the Sears at the North East Mall for a month my Sears closed and was the last original anchor store in my mall..it closed in the bankruptcy, we lost a soldier

CM Parker This is my local mall. Sad to see what is happening to it. We used to always shop here and now we come here for walking Red Robin the theater or for a couple stores. We used to shop at Macy’s sears Carson’s jcpenney and lots of inline stores.
