Chasing Wahoo of Tweed Heads found heaps of massive schools of Longtail and Mac Tuna. In amongst the school I spotted what I believed to be a Great White shark breach through a said school of Tuna.

It’s been 10 Months since I’ve been targeting Wahoo mainly of the Tweed 9 mile Reef. In this session I’m lucky enough to make a dream reality. Big shout out goes to Scott Williamson who has help me with lots of tips on all pelagic species but especially on Wahoo. It was great to head out together on this particular day. Love being out Jet Ski Fishing.

Jet ski fishing in Gold Coast Australia. This was a special session for me as it was the first ever Spanish Mackerel that I had caught. The area I trolled was Palmy reef .
Hey mate nice fish ... curious why you leave the engine running all the time even once hooked up ?
@@thay_cau_ca I find it easier to control the fight having the fish at the back of the ski. Especially if you get a double hook up. This also keeps good tension on the hooks But the biggest reason is to keep the braid away from the impeller on the jet. If the braid tangles around that it’s all over the ski is dead in the water. Cheers mate
@Jakhunta are you still fishing much out from the Tweed ? I'll be up there late Nov it'll be my first time fishing the area. Do you have IG or FB where I can ask some questions if you don't mind?
@@thay_cau_ca haven’t been out for a while. I’ll be fishing more after Xmas. I’ve looked you up on FB and sent you a friend request.
Good video mate keep up the good work 👍🏼 What size jig head do u normally use?
@@mavenfpv7843 Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed. I usually use a 1/2 ounce jig head in the river. But it can be also dependant on wind and current.
Hi there, awesome video. What trolling lures were you using? Thank you very much. So keen to see next video. ❤❤
@@nailsbae.homecafe Hi , glad you enjoyed. I deploy a lure short and one longer. The shorter was a Williamson speed pro 160 in bruised purple. The longer was a Halco laser pro 190 in King brown. Thanks for watching 🤙
Awesome fishing video, mate. How do you like the Fishpro so far, mate? Any issues? I plan to get one around October or so for fishing and spearfishing around SEQ. Keen to explore the bay. Thank you and tight line! Btw: that first bream got saddleback syndrome, possibly caused by lack of micro-nutrition or unfavourable growing environment.
@@dicungDon Cheers mate glad you enjoyed. It’s actually a GTX 130. Very similar to a Fish Pro but with a smaller swim platform. It’s my wife’s ski . I have a Yamaha wave runner myself and after putting a lot of hours into both you honestly couldn’t go wrong with either. The only thing if you get a Sea doo is when you flush the motor after use only run the water through for the recommended factory time . It’s about 90 seconds. Prolonged flushing can heat up the carbon seal and crack it. So many stories of Sea doos sinking. But I’ve had zero issues with our ski. I’ve put jet ski collars on my Yammy because I troll offshore with it and now it can’t sink and is very stable even in the rough stuff. I reckon a set of collars on a Sea doo would be awesome . You can see the collars in my other vids if they peak your interest. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the info on the bream 👍
Nice Garry.
Our old spot 👍
You make it look easy.
Thanks. Probably more lucky than anything.
dislike for cursing
No worries. Did you read the warning about it at the start of the vid?
harden up princess, he had a warning at start of video. you must be like the type of person who buys a house next to a race track and then comlains about the noise.
well done bro awesome catch what rod and reel were u using and lb line ?
Thanks bro. They are my late season set ups. Live fibre 7ft overhead 12-24kg rods Shimano Tyrnos reels spooled with 80lb Diawa J-braid. Pretty heavy set up for when the big hoo turn up.
What depth where they in mate? Well done!!
Thanks mate, don’t have a sounder on the Mrs ski. Having fished that ground before I’m going to say around 4-5m.
Good sesh mate. They’re a lot of fun aye! 👍👌
Cheers mate, yeah they go hard!! Going to put a bit more time into those clone prawns. They get smacked .
Great sesh mate! What tide were you fishing??
Cheers bro. It was the last half of the run out. Water gets quite dirty but the snapper don’t seem to mind.
Thanks Mate. You did well and that’s a great video. It looks like you were maybe using a prawn imitation on maybe a 3/8 or 1/2 oz. A friend and I tried earlier in the week and couldn’t raise a scale so will have to keep trying. Just curious - When you were drifting, was your plastic bouncing on the bottom or wafting along in midwater?
Thanks Mate. I was using 4 inch Berkley jerk in nuclear chicken on a 1/2oz TT jig head. I did have a prawn imitation on another rod but didn’t use it as they were smacking the jerk shad. I was working them off the bottom. Keep at it mate and the rewards will come.😊
@@Jakhunta Thanks for that. I’ll definitely keep at it. I look forward to seeing some more of your videos.
Nice video mate, it’s a good way to have a bit of fun and get a nice feed. 👌👍
Thanks Marty, I just used your methods and they worked a treat mate. Might have to convince the Mrs into getting a Tinnie with spot lock and side scan 😊
Nice one mate, may I ask what sort of tide you were fishing?
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed. It was the last half of the runout when all the snaps were caught.
Great catch in the river no need to go offshore. Keep up the vids what gear you use etc. JetSki rundown.
Thanks mate. I’m actually more set up for high speed trolling pelagics offshore. If you’re interested you can see my other videos. First snapper and the one I dropped were on a 6’0 4-6kg ugly stick spin rod paired with a 5000 Shimano Saragossa. 3 other fish were caught with a pflueger vintage supreme matched on a 5’6 Penn 6-8kg jigging rod. On both outfits I ran 20lb braid with 30lb leader. Spin rod had a 110gm Zerek fish trap vibe. Baitcaster had 5 inch gulp jerk shad and a 1/2 oz jig head.
Yamaha FX SHO 2013. Garmin C45 sounder. Jet ski collars for added stability and positive buoyancy for offshore.
Nice haul mate!
Cheers mate. Time to get a ski, haha.
@jakhunta get us out on the water again...I think I could convince the wife!
...promise no heart attacks next time
Yeah for sure😊 nice and steady next time.
Made a mistake with the description of the Halco lure. The colour is Stripey and not pilchard as I described it in the video.
Nice fish mate! Good day to be on the water by the looks of it too
Always mate. Can’t beat it.
Awesome mate well done. How far out were you? I’ve been trying latley without any luck. Hopefully soon
Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed. That was at the 18 fathom line just out from the Seaway. But they can turn up around the 24’s or the 12’s as well.
Awesome video! Very inspirational. Chris is the man. Wish I was there to fish with you guys. I'll be doing my JetSki fishing in Thailand. 😍
Cheers bro, glad you enjoyed. Jet ski fishing in Thailand sounds epic!!
Bro I venture out the tally bar. An even on a gd day, have to have your game on all time.
Yeah , things can get real loose real quick .
Hahahahha love your dedication bro. Id do say thing if had ski
Thanks bro , always learning.
Are you using braid or mono???
I’m running 80lb braid . Some say it’s overkill but I think it’s a good set up for when the really big fish turn up and I’ll be ready.
@@Jakhunta Thank you very much. Keep up the great content.
WELL DONE,SUBSCRIBED. What are the rod specs?? Regards from Greece.
Cheers mate. The rods in this vid are both Wilson live fibre overheads RLF16 and RLF18 . The reels are Shimano Tyrnos 20’s.
Great video man, I can’t wait to get one like this
Cheers bro. The more time on the water the greater the chance. Perseverance pays off.
I’d of ate those tuna for the next month haha good on you for giving em Back
Yellowfin are awesome to eat but the Mac tuna not so much.
Nice bro awes whack. Love it. Waaaahooooo
Cheers bro! Glad you enjoyed, hopefully plenty more to come.
Awesome catch mate! Watched it with the wife. Katherine loves your enthusiasm haha. Well done and finally!
Haha cheers mate. Glad you enjoyed it.
Glad I could be there for your first hoo. Plenty more to come I reckon
Thanks bro, glad you could be there too.
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a wahoooooooyellowfin. 😆
Yeah some pretty ordinary calls were made that session. Haha
What lures you running? I went out on a ski today on the reef for the first time…and tips will be appreciated
Hi Luca , that day I was running a Halco laser pro 190 long and a Williamson speed pro 160 short.
Bonnza
Nice mate!
We need to go for a fish together sometime I am also chasing a wahoo on the GC.
Lol, winding in an empty line... I think it's a Tuna.
Unreal don't know how you do it...make it look so easy. Well done Jason!
Well done to get them both in.
Nice fish mate !
Wow... nice catch mate. Bloody awesome
It's really enjoyable to watch got a few laughs out of that.
Should do a still frame of the look on your face after losing the fish and overlay it with "Hello darkness, my old friend".
