Starting Violas From Seed | Seed Starting | Gardening with my toddler
Spring is getting closer and so it is time to start planting seeds! I filmed this video on February 13th, but just have had technical difficulties so it is uploaded late. My last frost date is typically the first week of May. Violas need to be started 12 weeks prior. It is important that the seeds are started in light weight seed starting soil. This improves the germination and successful growth of more seedlings. Make sure they stay moist and are in an area with at least 8-10 hours of sunlight. If sunlight is scarce, then supplement with grow lights or shop lights. Here goes the start of this year's garden!

    Does this restrict the size of the pumpkin?

    • @thelarsengarden3165

      Since the nylon is stretchy it should not restrict the size of the pumpkin. A stiffer type of fabric can restrict growth.

    I've had the farm innovations heated water bottle on and off for years. I bought a new one recently recently for my bunnies. The problem I always have is that the bunnies don't know or can't figure out how to get water out of it. I even take time in the winter, sitting the bunnies on my lap and sitting right in front of the water mounted to the side of their bunny barn, and I put the spigot in their mouth or I put my hand under the Spicket and use my thumb to depress it to get water to come out so that they understand what's going on but I still haven't got them to catch on. I'm curious if you had any trouble with that? Traditionally, my bunnies are used to drinking out of either a pan or bowl or the water that has the floating ball and I just don't know why they can't seem to figure out how this one works!

      That sound frustrating Meagan. My rabbits have transitioned fairly well. One key for me is that I always put the water in the exact same spot in their pen when switching bottles. This way they will know for sure that the water is somewhere in that area. I have always used bottles and so that transition is a bit easier than going from dish to bottle. Trying to show them the water is the best thing you can do and after that you have to allow their thirst to push them to look harder. Of course if they are drinking nothing for a couple days then you may need to keep what they are used to in the meantime. I would also suggest trying to train them on the new bottle in the early fall so that it isn't as cold and stressful during the transition.

    Such a small cage! She can't do zoomies and there's no room for her to play. Keeping rabbits on a wire floor can hurt their feet. I know that this is common practice but so is keeping a dog chained outside with no shelter- - it's just cruel.

    • @wellhill4017
      @wellhill4017 Год назад

      No. The cage she’s in is perfect and wire isn’t bad for them.

      @@wellhill4017 "Wire-bottom cages are very painful for rabbits. They create sore hocks on the feet (pictured below) that are incredibly painful. They also cause arthritis, which is painful and chronic. Your rabbit should always have a solid surface to stand/walk/sleep on." New Mexico Rabbit Society. "Lack of movement from living in a small enclosure; and abrasions from irregular cage flooring can cause hutch sores which are more common in rabbits kept in enclosures with wire floors."
