Stephen King University of Maine 1996 Keynote Speech Dark Tower, inc: introduction, Q&A & outro
Stephen King's keynote speech at a University of Maine conference in 1996. He delivered an address which includes a reading from the then-in-progress The Dark Tower IV: Wizard And Glass and takes Q&A from the audience. With mentions of The Stand, Desperation and more this is a really great watch.

my cat likes to take dumps in the neighbor's yard
I READ KEYSTONE ON THE TITLE KSIEIEJSI
What ?
Ka, like the wind
All these years later the not so ‘silent’, definitely not a ‘majority’, are doing more book banning than King could’ve imagined back then. Often on far flimsier grounds. Rather than banning books for violent or sexual content, as sometimes appears in King’s books, books now can be banned by the far right for having a gay character or pointing out that slavery wasn’t so great.
Dead Zone is a good film, I wonder if he likes that one!
Pretty hilarious!
what's wrong with burning communist books? the communists starved to death millions of people. I dont think those ideas are worth to be printed.
Very nice. One of my favorite authors.

Long days and pleasant nights
Interesting. Is he now a proponent of section 230?
MORT RAINEY , Secret Window , Prequel please ☺️
That bit from wizard and glass wasnt in the book no?
It was. It's setting the scene for the end.
It's just crazy how at this point of my life, King has become a kind of prophet. He has taught me that knowing the horrors of the world and yet facing them with charisma and dry humour is OK. Not to mention that fiction can save people, losing ourselves in characters and inclusive story lines, diversity and adversity, is OK if not great. I just read the last part of the dark tower series sleeping on a park bench. I can relate to so many of his characters.... Really is a King and I'm glad I discovered him
Are you doing any better?
Prophet? The guy's a hack.
He’s a free mason 😅
his self-deprecation is so obvious. he was so afraid of the crimson king that he could not over come that old monster. i love the way he talks about his tails. However, he believes in the tower... so do I.
He deserves 4 more thumbs.
I agree
Reminds me of Republicans burning Dixie Chicks CD'S
I hate to be the kerning police but...
His stupidity on abortion was stunning.
So interesting how, in the supposed land of the free, so many people are so keen to take away the health and bodily freedoms of those who live here.
Too bad your parents weren't bigger fans.
Really? What rebuttal do you have to prove what he had to say was wrong? I'll wait...
Because in MY opinion, what he had to say was SPOT ON,based on long observation. "Pro Life" is a misnomer...it should be "Pro BIRTH" because it would appear nobody much concerns themselves about the life AFTER BIRTH.
One of my top fav. King talks.
Such a great talk. Long live this King.
Stephen can you sign my photo of your dog doing tricks in your yard? 😄
7:30 start
Yes, but his old proffesors talk is so touching and genuine and deserves a listen, too
Thank You
Dude, this dark tower reading was amazing. Wizard and glass is the best one.
Wizard and glass is the best one.
The wolves of the calla, and wizard and glass are masterpieces in my humble opinion.
Wizard and Glass is definitely the best one! What an absolute masterpiece of a series..
The Drawing of the Three, The Waste Lands, Wizard And Glass and Wolves of the Calla are the best ones, in my opinion.
Currently reading the wizard and the glass. What an amazing piece of fiction. Funny enough I actually read the drawing of the three before I read the first book because they happened to have it at my rehab. The story hooked me instantly.
Thanks for sharing this.
