Hobbies include wargaming, 3D printing, model railways, large scale modelling and video and podcast creation.
Wargames comprises a 6' x 5' table, permanently setup with plans to add another table later. Game played include
Bolt Action, Chain of Command, Kill-Team, Sharpe Practice, and Zombicide. Upcoming games include Warhammer Warcry, purchased late 2022. Bolt Action is currently our game of choice.
An end to end, U shaped O gauge model railway is setup on the above the wargames area in the barn, with two small country terminus stations, a good shed, a 30' turntable and space for a steam servicing facility. It is currently being extended to give more running space.
3D printer includes Qidi i-box mono and Elegoo Mars 2 Pro resin printers with a Mercury Wash & Cure station and a Qidi Tech I-Max FDM printer. The resin printers are mostly used for printing 28mm figures/vehicles/guns etc. and the FDM printer for Scenery and other larger items.

Warhammer Warcry ‘Heart of Ghur’ assembled and painted with GW Contrast Paints

I had the opportunity to assemble and paint this boxed set over the Christmas holidays and I must say it was a pleasure to put together. Watch out for the trees though as I found some of them a bit fiddly. It all looks pretty impressive once assembled so worth the perseverance. Paints used… Zenithal Priming Black / white Oneshot undercoats, both from Ammo by Mig GW Contrast Paints Scenery Basil...

Hi Can you add auto bed leveling sensor to this x max 2018 ?
@@mohammedmariff9034 not that I’m aware of. But to be honest, I’ve never really needed it. One the printer is levelled I’ve not had to adjust it.
@@ivanshobbies good luck sir A friend of mine has one and he asked me about adding a bed level feature .. Thanks alot
Hi. What temperature do you use to print PLA? I have a qidi X Max 3.
@@rubenmonterrubio4273 it depends on the brand. Some can print at 200 others will need 225. Do a test print until you’re happy with the results.
@@ivanshobbies Thanks! Have a nice day :)
Good presentation. Thanks. I look forward to the build.
I have the X-max and installed this Filament Runout Sensor as well . Very easy to do . However , my first test of running it out was a bit tricky . The temp for the print head turned off , so I couldnt run the new roll of filament through . Everything looked good and the printer confirmed the filament ran out , but it should then automatically run the print head in reverse to pull out the old filament , and drop the bed to give you room to run the new filament through , before restarting the print. Are there other steps I need to do first ?
I made a simple video for changing at runout / mid-print for Qidi X-Max 3, since that is missing online ruclips.net/video/cnn9N2eKOOg/видео.html
Does the Xmax version 1have the same board as the xplus version 1?
thank you for tip.
If this keeps happening over and over that’s the next step to take?
Get in contact with Qidi Tech. Their customer support is very good just bear in mind that they’re in China so you’re probably get a response overnight if you’re in the UK.
@@ivanshobbies thank you yes I sent an email to them yesterday waiting on response 🙏🏼
Hi, who's sound decoder?
I’m not sure. It’s the one that came with it when I purchased it from Hattons.
I have mine for about 3 years and I'm really happy with it. Support is very good. Ones my printhead/extruder was not working anymore and they send me a whole new one for free. The built quality and full enclosure is good for the price. The fact that you also have a 300 °C hotend for materials is pretty nice. I would recomment this one for sure.
Do you have the instructions to replace the 8.9 inch lcd when it fails? Thanks!
Hi could you possibly tell me if the sensor is just a micro switch type or is it optical, I have a switched type but I can't find out the type of input it takes as there is 20v at one of the terminals
Hi Jeff. It’s a micro switch. It plugs in to the main board, the port for it is hidden so you need to unscrew the board to access it. Hope that helps 👍🏻.
@@ivanshobbies Thanks Ivan for the reply, I was just surprised that the input was as high as 20 volt. I'll give it a go thanks again
@@ivanshobbies Please note anyone who is using a non X max switch with a different connector and have to alter it to fit, the inputs are pulldown so the 0 volts (negative) is connected to the 3rd pin up from the 0 volts for a single head do not use the +volts.
How are you getting on with the printer? I'm undecided about this, the Prusa i3 or the Bambu Labs P1P.
I thinks it’s a great printer, does everything I want, it’s well made and the support is very good
@@ivanshobbies Do you know if the "air purifier" removes toxins when printing with toxic materials?
@@Mickparrysstepdad I believe that one’s with carbon filters will to a certain extent but you need plenty of ventilation. Spare rooms, garages or barns etc where people aren’t in there for any period of time is probably the best location for resin printers. I believe FDM printers don’t give off as much harmful particles but you probably wouldn’t want to be near one long term. They tend to be noisy anyway, so again somewhere like a spare room, garage etc is best. Both types of printer are best in a damp/dust free environment.
Soldaten? Soldiers? No?😢
Not in this video. It was more to show how a Pegasus bridge type table could be setup for games like Bolt Action and Chain of Command. That and I enjoy making videos about my hobbies 🙂.
what are those bubbles on lcd screen?
As far as I can see there are no bubbles on the screen. The only ones I can see are in the tank. If you can give me a time it occurs in the video I’ll have a look.
@@ivanshobbies I can see them too at 2:36 Are you using a screen protector of some sorts?
Yes, I mistakenly started to take it off when I replaced the screen. The bubbles are from putting it back in place.
Great paint job, whats the song you used in the video?
Pro tip, use old supports to put in the bottom of the tank over towards the corner BEFORE running the clean cycle and it will bond into the cleaning sheet and you can use it as a handle to pull the cured resin cleaning sheet right off.
Helpful. My first print of the chess pieces failed and I had to do a cleanup.
Great looking table, but not enough buildings. Some are missing that were there at the time. Some more research needed. It will only take 5-10 minutes.
Yes there were more buildings, unfortunately I don’t have them. The table setup was more to show people what the bridge looked like and how big it is. Plus it was somewhere to store it as it takes up a lot of space. It was never meant to be an accurate representation.
looks amazing I wish one day to have as much gaming space as you and such a nice scenery ready for a game.
Thanks, It took a few years to get to this stage.
Nice table. For chain of command?
Yes, Chain of Command
Yes. We can use it for either a very large game or split it in to areas for smaller games. It also acts as somewhere for the bridge as it's massive and I currently have nowhere else to keep it!
