Situated at a height of around 8000 ft. above sea level, amidst picturesque surroundings, the Sheetla Mata temple at Rehosra is situated on a hill top about 4 km from Chinta-Jai stretch of road. The ancient temple was burnt down during the period of militancy, but a small temple has been rebuilt at the same spot. Sheetla Mata is a highly revered Devi in the whole hill region and is the Kuldevi (clan-godddess) of many clans. The temple is visited by devotees from far-flung areas of Doda, Kishtwar, Chamba, Billawar, Bani, Basohli and Kathua. People also come here to perform the Mundan ceremony (first tonsu...
