Sendai... the City of Trees, Date Masamune, Gyutan and Zunda! Sendai is located in Miyagi Prefecture and it is the biggest city in the Tohoku Region (Northeast Japan) with roughly 1 million citizens. I spent one year in Sendai as an exchange student at Tohoku University and let me guide you to my favorite places in Sendai!
I filmed the whole video in a single day. Here is my detailed travel plan from that day (adjust it to your liking):

Studying Korean for 3 Weeks in Seoul. How much Korean Can I Speak Now?
Просмотров 21 тыс.5 лет назад
I took a 3 Week Korean Language Beginner class in Seoul at Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) this summer (I have never studied Korean before). I was curious: How much Korean can I speak after those 3 weeks? I recorded my progress with my camera and see yourself! Summer School Program that I attended: summer.skku.edu/summer/index.do I was happy with my progress within 3 weeks. I tried to fully imme...
Paragliding at One of the Best Views in Japan (no clickbait) - Matsushima (Miyagi, Tohoku)
Просмотров 5656 лет назад
Matsushima, an easy day trip from Sendai, is known as one of the "Three Scenic Views of Japan (日本三景, Nihon Sankei"). To give it a little twist, my working title for this Go Go Tohoku project was: "Explore One of the Top Three Views by Three Different Views" Pretty cool title right? I made a day trip and explored Matsushima by land, sea and... AIR in order to find the most stunning view! A big t...
150 Bowls of Wanko Soba - Japanese Food Challenge - Tips, Rules, Behind the Scenes!

The Wanko Soba Challenge in Morioka (Iwate Prefecture) is probably one of the most famous food challenges in Japan. Every serious "food fighter" (competitive eater) in Japan has probably done it. In this video, I share with you some behind the scenes footage like: How I prepared for the challenge, the procedure, the rules, the food that is served to you etc. After watching this, you should be p...
Amazing Autumn Colors at Mt. Hakkoda - Hiking in Aomori Prefecture - Travel in Tohoku
Просмотров 6 тыс.6 лет назад
Weekend trip in Aomori Prefecture! We hiked in the Hakkoda Mountains to experience the autumn foliage (called "Koyo" or "Momiji" in Japanese). We were treated to stunning views after riding the ropeway to the peak of the mountain. Just wow! More dramatic scenery was waiting for us while hiking down. After a long hike, there's no better place than a Japanese hot spring. "Sukayu Onsen" is one of ...
Akita Kanto Matsuri Guide - Sigthseeing, Food, Tips - Travel in Tohoku

The Kanto Matsuri in Akita City (Akita Prefecture) is one of the most famous festivals in Japan. I have visited many festivals in Japan now and this is one of most fun and unique ones. It is not too crowded, you can try to hold the lanterns yourself and you are much closer to the action! It's very spectacular during the night with all the illuminated lanterns. And don't forget to try all the de...
Sakunami Onsen (Miyagi Prefecture) - Travel in Tohoku
Просмотров 8066 лет назад
In my opinion, if you visit Japan, an Onsen (hot springs) overnight stay is one of the best experiences you can get. Not a lot of tourists actually do that. Miyagi Prefecture is blessed with so many hot spring resorts. Put your Yukata on, sleep on tatami mats and enjoy the indoor and outdoor Onsen. Moreover, if you book the dinner and breakfast option (which is highly recommended), you can expe...
Yamadera - The Temple in the Mountain - Travel in Tohoku

Risshakuji Temple, also known as Yamadera (山寺, "mountain temple") is a great place to visit in the Tohoku region. It's really one of my favorite places. Depending on the season, you always get a slightly different scenery. My family is visiting me right now and it's their first time in Japan. I brainstormed a lot what I should show them and I think Yamadera is a great place to get a "Japanese e...

7 hours in Naha (Okinawa) and I already found the most beautiful place (Fukushu-en Garden)

It's summer vacation time! I decided to fly from Sendai to Naha in Okinawa Prefecture. A prefecture that I wanted to visit for a long time. You can say that it's still Japan but quite different. For the first day, I just had 7 hours in Naha, so I initially planned to stay in the main tourist area, eat some local food and just relax. Well, for some reason I walked more than expected and I found ...

The difference between an absolute beginner who has memorized phrases for specific situations and someone who has been studying for a year to dynamically speak hopefully in a variety of situations... is unfortunately not that much at least from listening to them talk. It takes so long to learn a language well enough to properly be able to show off your progress (for most people).

One of my favourite bands, Morrigan, is from Sendai. I liked the video but the thing I can't understand is your food. It's just disgusting. Raw fish, literally gutted fish corpses. Tongues of this, eyes of that, some things are still alive. What kind of food is that and how a corpse of a creature that doesn't want to die is considered healthy and good for your organism? Since there is a warning videos of killing animals you should ask yoursef how could it be good for your stomach since it's bad for your eyes. None of my food has caution signs on it.
