This is just a bad CV axle. My passenger side was like that after the envoy went skrrrt skrrrrrt and hit the curb on a rainy day. Auto zone got a tool for rent around $90. That slide hammer sure comes in handy

Also dont use a test light on modern cars unless its high impedance... Youll fry a computer. If you must diagnose a cars electrical use a digital multimeter.theyre less than 20 at Walmart much better cost than a new computer for it.

Could just disconnect the negative terminal, if the engine dies the alternator is failing

Get ready for a pain in the ass to replace . You have to pull both axles , the radiator fan and clutch , ac compressor , alternator and pulleys , just to fish it out of the top

Instead they take your diagnosis and go and get another mechanic diagnosis, then wait until it gets worse then they take it to the second mechanic and tell you some story how it was something else. Next time... They get NO discount Full price for every minute of diagnosis and labor. Including your advice, especially your knowledge don't give it to them for free, charge a flat diagnostic fee of 75.

I mean, it's their money, let them spend it how they want to, and when they eventually need to come back, "sorry last time you were here I recommended this, AND NOW...." Who knows maybe they can only afford the bare minimum, it's pretty much job security for you or another mechanic...

What were your symptoms and why did you do this work? I have a 2007 Aspen and it makes cracking noises in the morning when backing up and the steering is a little "off" and alignments don't fix the steering. I'm thinking of replacing the lower control arms (the uppers were already replaced with no change) and the CV axles (since they are cheap and I will be in there. I love the Aspens. Thanks.

Should update your title or description to reflect this is for the 3.3l V6 and not the 2.7l V6. The 4 identical water pump bolts have a torque value of 7-8 ft-lbs, the unique one is 16-19 ft-lbs. The pulley bolts are 6-7 ft-lbs. The two engine-side engine mount bracket bolts are 47-61.5 ft-lbs, and the body side is 57.-72.3. I just set it to 60 for all 3. Looks like this motor has the classic leaks on this engine: valve cover gaskets and oil pan. Always fun!

Do you know what would cause the belt not to spin when I turn the harmonic balancer?

Is it not a wise idea to proactively renew the crankshaft oil seal while you're in that deep?

My link did same on that lower bolt used the good ol Milwaukee cut front bolt along washer and knocked out bolt with punch, that bottom one sure a bugger good vid brother
