So basically Geralt joined a battle on a bridge because he and his friends were trying to escape Nilfgaardian archers on a riverboat, but the boat got stuck at a bridge and then the Nilfgaardians started a battle with Queen Meve's Lyrian forces at that bridge. Geralt and co. needed to cross the river, so Geralt and one of his friends joined the battle and rallied the Lyrians to fight back, and with Geralt fighting like a witcher they won. So Queen Meve knighted him and he hung around for a few days enjoying his new status and privilege, but his friends eventually convinced him to leave and continue on their quest to rescue Ciri, so they just snuck out at night. And for that, Queen Meve had his knighthood revoked, and I guess she and her son were pretty salty about it.

Your game seems to be going a little slow sometimes, no? 20:06 I have seen other people get that same problem in the middle of the game. I think it can be fixed, but I am not sure how, because thankfully it never happened to me. But I am sure there are forums explaining how to fix it.

He is selling food to the people who have come to watch the slaves get killed by the gladiators. And he is announcing the food items he has to the public: "Larks' tongues. Wrens' livers. This episode gives me a rest from typing and you a rest from reading all my notes ^^. Pretty straightforward, no lore or background to add ... Except - CDPR love to do things well, so it took 7 real years from the DLC's release before anyone found out that Vivienne dies young if you choose the other option.

You're missing Geralt's face expressions during cut scenes, because wearing glasses.

Yen approves of Geralt's choice (11:11 ) “I need a lore” (35:11) - there you go Geralt helped Queen Meve of Rivia in the fight for a strategically important bridge on the Jaruga River. Geralt (along with Regis, Dandelion and other friends) was searching for Ciri, who had disappeared during the coup and the Second Nilfgaard War (and was hunted by Nilfgaard). After the battle, Queen Meve appointed Geralt a knight and incorporated him into her army, but Geralt left the army and set out to rescue Ciri. These events (from the books) took place several years earlier than the plot of The Witcher 3. I'm so glad you got a good ending. By Witcher standards, this is truly a rarity. The other ending is less happy. When you are in the duchess's palace, you can meet Vivienne and Guillaume on the walls

Now that Le Papillon (the tourney announcer with the rhymes and the trumpet) has perfomed his duties, he has an unmarked quest for you. It can be done at any time, even after the main questline. You can find him...: (SPOILER) ...in the southernmost part of Beauclair, pretty much straight south of the Nilfgaardian Embassy signpost.

"Motion Blur" ... just why? Hands up if you think motion blur is a good thing? ... No, I didn't think so.

I hadn't figured out that I could slow down time for the sword swings, plus I kept riding off the path, bumping into posts, missing gates, and so on. Over the course of my first two playthroughs, I tried the course about 20 times before I gave up. (And the first time I fought in the mounted duel, I had him down to low health - but then I rode out of bounds and was disqualified...) Now that I know the course and I have improved in all aspects, I manage to complete it with about 50% chance.

I don't think you suck at gwent but the matches I have seen you try have been too tough for your (then current) deck. If you ever do another playthrough (or if you catch up with gwent in this playthrough), I recommend: * Buy all cards as soon as you see them (as I think you've done, mostly, but might have mised the ones in White Orchard). * Keep 22 units in the deck, take out the worst units. * Start your gwent crusade by playing merchants in Velen, they generally have the weakest decks (Yoana and the merchant in Oreton are exceptions). Every time you see one who wants to play, do it. And keep at it until you beat that person and get a random card reward. Bet 1 gold per match, if needed.

You are one of the few who chose this end of the quest.

I didn't tell Guillaume the truth because I thought it was better to respect the promise I made to Vivienne, but the result was a sad ending for everyone.

Nice decisions, many players end up with a pissed-off-Guillaume and a 7-year-lifespan-Vivienne, they are either too respectful about secrecy and/or find him too creepy ;)

A good performance in Gwent could be decisive in the future, at a certain point in the main story. It is all I can say.

As you can see from the letter, Yen knows nothing about Shani 🙂. The scene with the unicorn (02:49) is a reference to the painting The Creation of Adam (by Michelangelo), which forms part of the Sistine Chapel's ceiling. Consider turning off motion blur, because the screen "floats" in dynamic scenes (motion blur=disabled; blur=disabled; sharpen=high)

You did well to complete the 'Amnesia' quest. Although it is a side quest, it's very relevant to know the background of the game.

'No place like home' hope you liked seeing more of Corvo Bianco. The quest is nothing exciting, just a peaceful interlude - and one of the ways B&W takes your money. = [Book lore] Regis is a very old, tough, vampire and herbalist. Geralt and gang met him in a cemetery where he was gathering herbs. He invited them home, got them drunk, and joined them on their search for Ciri. As it became clear to Geralt that Regis was a vampire he was going to fight him but Regis explained that drinking blood was not a necessity for vampires, it was just like drinking alcohol to humans. He had 'overindulged' when younger and now given it up in shame, similar to a recovering alcoholic. Being someone at least as capable and powerful as Geralt, Regis became one of his best friends. As you heard, he was 'killed' in the final-boss battle but eventually regenerated. = [More book lore] Geralt actually is a knight. During his search for Ciri he and his gang were part of 'the battle of the bridge' between the Northern Realms and invading Nilfgaard. For his part Geralt was knighted as Sir Geralt of Rivia by Queen Meeve of Lyria. Once recovered they promptly ran away from the army to keep looking for Ciri (and a bit later is when they visited Toussaint).

I recommend you not wait too long with the quest started by Yennefer's letter or with the Grandmaster armor quest(s). Mostly so you can enjoy the benefits while there is still much of the game left. There are six unmarked quests in Toussaint. Five are available for the rest of the game while one has only a small window when it can be done and you will almost certainly miss it wihout help. So here it is (SPOILER): Your current main quest is 'La Cage au Fou'. After you complete that *but before you complete the next main quest* is the time. In fact, the next main quest is short, so it's best to do the unmarked one before acting on the next main quest. After you complete 'La Cage au Fou', go to Count de la Croix's Mill, at the river bank roughly SE of Corvo Bianco.

The horse race: remember to hold down the attack button so you get more time (time slows down) for the sword swings. It's still not easy, I think. And don't miss riding through the gates. You probably won't have time to go back and fix it if you do. And a rules clarification for the sword fight: while you can't use signs, you *are* allowed to eat foot and drink potions.

The cutscene starts when either you or Dettlaff would have lost if the fight had continued normally. He defeated you. The only difference if you win is an XP reward.

What difficulty are you currently playing on? Btw, the motion blur is distracting. I think you can turn it off in the settings. But if you prefer to have it, leave it on of course. :)

I am so glad you picked up on the similarity with Tuscany. I think a lot of people just hear Toussaint and the faux French accent, and just assume oh ok this is inspired by Southern France. But the region actually has way more in common with Tuscany, not just a similar name! The climate, the culture, the wine, the palaces and cities being build on older civilisations ruins (here its the elves, in real life its obviously the Romans). Also, real life Tuscany was also a Duchy, and their rulers were related to and vassals of the Holy Roman Emperors, just like Anna Henrietta is related to the Nilfgaardian Emperor Emhyr. Not to mention most NPC literally call her Duquessa, thats Italian ! 😁 That is not to say there arent plenty of French influences as well. The place names and language, the food etc. The Duchess and her opulent court are somewhat inspired by the Duchy of Burgundy, which is in modern day France as well. 😁

Back when the game came out, I completed the first play through and at the time, didn't know there was so much more. I'm enjoying watching you go deeper than I did. The only thought I had about 2B's name was that it seem a reference to the "To be, or not to be" quote from Hamlet

What an episode! How much happened! I have a small suggestion that for people who have already subscribed to your channel, the subscription tag during the fight with bruxa (16:27) should be transparent 😉 Before fighting a new monster (like Shaelmaar) it is good to read the bestiary.. Shaelmaar is heavily armored, but there is a clever way to make him hit a wall and fall, exposing unprotected body parts. In the fight against bruxa, the Yrden sign is very effective. I have good news - there is one quest with peacocks (24:40), very good by the way. Blood and Wine refers to many different and well-known plot threads (like the movie Seven) or literary characters (e.g. the knight errant fighting windmills in episode 1), but all of them are a starting point for telling a unique story. Finding these references is a lot of fun

Crespi did not own Corvo Bianco, he owned another vineyard called Belgaard. There is a whole questline about this vineyard's future. You will be told Corvo Bianco's history later, if you do the No Place Like Home quest (which I really recommend you do to its full extent).

The Shaelmaar was difficult for me to beat because I didn't realize its weak point.

'No Place Like Home', which I recommended, is a side-quest to visit it again and find out what you've really got (sounds dull but isn't). Saying so before this episode would have been a spoiler for you becoming a vinyard-owner as well as a witcher, hero, knight, and ducal appointee (show off). Do you think Yen would be proud of Geralt? [9 months since you told her you love her (part 33)]. Anyway - before that you've got to save Milton!

Just crossed the Bay of Biscay, so out of internet range for a couple of days. Should be more prompt from now, at least until I cross to Sicily.

I did not watch the full episode yet, but I think you should have used a different title like: DLC ending or something, bring more clicks

Oh, and don't forget in the next video to go to the big building where you landed (not the factory, the another one). Believe me, it's worth it to understand some things about the story.

The protection side quests would have been a little less complicated if you had used hacking.

Why do you think the ending of the story with Shani was anticlimactic. She remembered Geralt and left him a nice gift. Considering the conditions of the Witcher universe, this ending is quite good. Milton and Palmerin had been looking for Geralt since he killed Griffin in White Orchard. That is, for the whooole game. How nice to meet someone who has been waiting for Geralt longer than Ciri. Oh, and in case you hadn't noticed, that morning the sky was red 🙂

On your World Map, Toussaint is miles/km away to the south of everywhere else ... hence the much better weather :)

Even if you plan to still shy away from all things gwent, please go to Count Monnier and pick up the basic Skellige deck. Just so you can check out the quote on the Madman Lugos card. :) (Sidenote: Count Monnier's name is in honor of Damien Monnier, who invented gwent.)

The DLC is a brand new witcher game. A love letter to the fans.

Oh you're going to love Toussaint, obviously inspired by French and Italian wine regions, so it will also feel more familiar than the dreary Northern Realms. Do meet the Duchess as soon as you can, after checking Corvo Bianco. May I also suggest the side-quest 'No Place Like Home' as soon as you get it, as it sets the scene for later. > 18:23 Toussaint [Book lore]: Toussaint is a province far to the South (look on the world-map in game), conquered long ago by Nilfgaard and therefore not affected by the current war. It is home of the best wines but otherwise regarded as a quaint backwater and almost a joke with its knights and 'tradition', so left alone even by the emperor. Years before the books Dandelion had an affair with the Duchess, which the Duke wasn't very pleased about, causing Dandelion to flee a death sentence (and saving the Duchess from having to eat his heart). In the books Geralt and his gang visited Toussaint in their search for Ciri, although Dandelion was terrified. As it turned out the Duke had died and the Duchess and Dandelion restarted their affair, the whole gang lived luxouriously in the palace, and Geralt had his longest documented affair, with Fringilla Vigo, court sorceress and cousin to the Duchess. Towards the end of the books Geralt took Ciri to see the 'fairy tale' land of Toussaint, where they found Dandlion still couldn't control himself and had infuriated the Duchess by flirting with the palace maids, for which she had also sentenced him to death. They all fled. Hence the message "only make certain this time he comes alone" because she doesn't want to see Dandelion again. Honest. No, really.
