These are all way too heavily armored. The Walking Tank would use an arm and a shield, maybe two. The secret is a ball-and-socket joint at the base of the legs that could rotate to lift the tank higher to take longer strides and rotate to a position to crouch down when under fire.

The caladius tank also has the twin lastrum bolt cannon, with 3 shots, sustained hits 1, 6str -1ap 1dmg in addition to the main cannon. If you only want to use tanks though use the pallas attack skimmer for anti infantry i guess.

That first map is awful. Literally how can you play on that? Huge first turn advantage, huge shooting advantage, huge tank advantage (as infantry cab quickly run through ruins) Bro anyone could win on a map like that if they brought shooty tanks 😂😂😂

But you hit the nail on the head, custodes rn has units that fill such defined rolls that make a good amount of lists end up looking similar to eachother which unfortunately has to do with datasheet imbalance within the faction and some underwhelming detachments Still love playing the faction but tough to feel unique with like 500 pts of wiggle room. Love me my rapid ingress melta spears in talons ap -5 ignores cover catches ppl off guard haha!

I was a bit surprised at not comparing the Terran to Space Marines at first, but it is like you said, Terran's Marines aren't genetically enhanced super-humans like the Adeptus Astartes, but still normal human beings in power armor. Terran going under the Adeptus Sororitus (Sisters of Battle) rules ought to be interesting. I'd love to see proxies of all three Starcraft races in action in 40K

Great report thanks. Fellow Guard treadhead here and love fielding armour. Would be interesting to see how you go on WTC based terrain with them. Punishers with all flamers were pretty interesting and something I'll check out

Hey, so spoilers ahead if you read enough of the Dune books, I believe brian Hebert finished the series based on his father's notes? But the extra galactic threat the honored matres are fleeing from is a new machine empire, omnius was able to completly rebuild from a research drone way out there. The bit about the god emperor contemplating a fusion of machine and man is kind of a foreshadowing, as sand worms of Dune ends with Duncan Idaho being the new quizatch hiderach and he fuses with the robot Erasmus to make a pseudo perfect being and create a peace between machines and man

I’ve seen (and since lost haha) a pic of a guy using the spare bits from the penitent engines to line walls of a space hulk. Has been on my to do list for a couple years now! Like your use for them though

I think you are kinda sleeping on the sicarran venator, while its true its neturon laser destroyer has heavy which makes it kinda redundant with its ferocious assault ability if it hasn't moved, you have to remember it can also be given two lascannon sponsons that will also benefit from the ferocious assault ability, meaning you not only have the 3 S16 neturon laser destroyer shots but also 2 S12 lacannon shots, and a single S14 HK missile all hitting on a 2+, hopefully at your oath of moment target for rerolls. And in iron storm, getting a wound and damage reroll, especially on the neturon laser destroyer could be key to either knocking out or significantly weakening an opponents vehicle or monster.

be a perfect 40k faction, and that's the problem, skaven would inhabit all the niches of all the factions, if you want a satire of human society (imperium) if you want endless armies (tyranids) if you want weird tech (mechanics) how about comic relief (orks) skaven fall into the same trap they did in fantasy where if they are so cunning and powerful you can only hold them back for so long, now it would be sweet to have an imperium equivalent xeno army, but if they end times it all again id love everything, but they were a good framework for 40k before it Orks didn't have a personality they were just big n strong, now every faction feels complete, but hey if there was a skven plague it would be memorable

A very interesting battle report. Was this a 2k game? It seems a bit short. Not sure what you mean by the Armour of Contempt Strategem for guard. Armoured Might for 2 CP just -1D from enemy attacks. The Malcador infernus is probably best with heavy flamers sponsons. A good overwatch unit, auto hit with all weapons. The Standard Malcador is a great tank. I recommend using all autocannons. That's 9+d6 blast auto cannons shots. It's battle cannon has the same profile as an auto cannon. Which is why it's added together. That is a lot of lethals Vs monsters and vehicles. Couple it with an Exterminator or creed (fields of fire) and this thing really starts to hose down enemy vehicles and monsters.

Great looking leman Russ. I’m considering learning 3d printing and buying an fdm printer specifically for imperial guard tanks (new to 40K) and gw price hikes really turned me off. Any advice? Maybe don’t jump into printing hobby? Thanks.

I know everyone is gaga over the S14 main gun on the Demolisher, but I just can't get past D6 damage. You can have all the strength in the world, but being entirely reliant on a dice roll for damage just feels so bad to me. I'd rather save 30 points and run a standard battle tank, or 45 points and run a Vanquisher.
