Great upload here. The Motels how I remember them. Tim McGovern shredding on guitar. Michael Goodroes thundering bass. Brian laying down heavy grooves on the skins. Marty with a full head of hair! And Martha...what a hot mess she was back then, but clearly keeping it together, One wonders what direction they would have gone had Tim stayed with the band.
If Pink and Liza Minelli had a kid.... Seriously if cloning is real, this is Pink's mom. Listen to Martha's interviews now - close your eyes, it's even Pink's speaking voice.
Love the feeling, but not quite understanding she had it much less than. Martha is kinda punk in her lyrics, but she has a very different style musically. A touch of jazz and a very emotional feeling is what l always loved about the Motels.
Outstanding writer, and unique vocalist, lucky to have seen her , live, here in the Twin Cities, years ago. She is a really good guitarist, barre chords! Great 80’s vibe!!

Gosh some rare footage here I believe as there's not too much full live stuff here on U-Toob from the 'Tels. Great to see & hear so thank you to uploader The Motels Official. Got any more full gigs please?
Thanks for the memories. Saw the classic LA band The Motels at the classic grungy Starwood nightclub in Hollywood in 1976. They were great.
saw them in concert a few weeks ago, still sound good
Can we compare the great Martha Davis with the great Grace Slick?
Martha Davis was a knockout back in the day! Beautiful voice too. The band had a good rock sound.
God God God, she was so unbelievably gorgeous.
I wonder if Gwen Stefani was a fan. She has a similar singing style.
Probably, and that was smart from Gwen.
Great repertoire….never knew!
Martha sure loved those nasty cigarettes , unfortunately.
At the time smoking was cool.
@@felroberto It still is.
Now we know where Gwen Stefani got her singing style.
Missing Persons were obviously influenced by the Motels and Gwen by both and Bow Wow Wow.
Listen to the Rock nd Roll lady jam she's a legend Live n ROmequemasnquede
Quiet, quiet! And quit throwing things! LOL She's awesome

Awesome priceless footage.
Sultry sexy as Debra Harry
The Motels started in 1972. So they are more of a Glitter band. Ten years later this was called New Wave.
NOt really as they were a completely different band by the 80s
The month that John Lennon died, I was only a few months old. How time flies. I still love this band.
Lennon was killed on December 8th.

Her speaking voice does sound like Pink or I should say Pink sounds like Martha.

I loved this album. I played the HELL out of it. Martha is still singing, and has a studio in Oregon.

Why didn't they play only the lonely? Or suddenly last summer? Was this show before that album?
