      @vinnyandatty8777 What an absolute belter of a comment! 😂🙌 We’re buzzing to hear we could help you out with that 1930’s pebble dash job - love how you went on that wild hunt to figure out what it was called! “Greek agg sand and stone” cracked us up. Pebble dash is a beast of a finish, and it’s always a winner when you get a client who knows the value of a proper restoration. Massive respect for taking on the challenge, mate - sounds like you smashed it! Here’s to many more wins for you in 2025. Appreciate the kind words, and keep doing what you’re doing. Legends like you make the trade what it is. 💪 Cheers, Dr. V!

    Thanks for the comment! I’d say it’s manageable for one person on a big section if you’re organized and work efficiently, but it can be a push depending on the weather and material. Most thin coat systems are similar in terms of application and set times, but you’ll notice slight differences between brands-some feel smoother, and others need a bit more attention during the finish stage. And yes, the second rub-up definitely saves the arms! It’s all about pacing yourself and getting the timing right.

  • @lmilne4859
    @lmilne4859 10 дней назад

    Would say it’s manageable doing a big section 1 person. Thin coats manufacture of this these pretty much all the same to apply and setting times. Or it like mono every 1 is different to apply etc. Ideally second rubbing up would certainly be easier on the old arms lol.

    Hi! Yes, I set up the spray for a slightly heavier texture to suit the project, but you can adjust it to get a finer finish straight off the gun. It’s all about adjusting the nozzle size, pressure, and material aggregate size. Smaller nozzle (4mm) and material size (1mm) equals finer flatter look.

    Lads you are boarding the wrong way to the Joists. The joists will flex and the boards are running with the joists so you’ve got flex running all the way along the board joints.Hopefully there is not a room above.No doubt you’ll say you’ve done loads of it in the past but boards and joints are not designed to do what you’ are asking of them. Apart from that it looks very nice.

    @petemoring67 You’re absolutely right - bedding the beads into the first coat works well and is solid! 👍 However, I like using the glue because it lets me press the beads super tight to the plasterboard, keeping the overall thickness down. Just a personal preference for that snug finish! 👌

  • @petemoring67
    @petemoring67 27 дней назад

    WHY waste good money on 'another' product to stick board beads on?? ... You put a first coat on - PUSH the bead into it - Then lay it down as normal - It's NEVER gonna move!! 👍🤠

    @Chi198x: In my experience, when removing coving, the ceiling and wall corners are often left quite messy. This is because the adhesive used for coving can pull away sections of the surface, leaving uneven patches or damaged areas. It’s especially common in newer builds, like yours (2011), where walls may have been finished with tape and jointing compound rather than a full plaster skim. If your walls haven’t been plastered, you’ll likely see exposed plasterboard and joint lines after removing the coving. In that case, a skim coat of plaster around the corners will give a much cleaner finish and restore a smooth, seamless look.

  • @Chi198x
    @Chi198x Месяц назад

    From your experience, when taken off the coving. Are the ceiling & wall corners always that messy and in need of plastering? Ours a 2011 build and i dont think any of these walls has plaster on it.

However, it would, of course, be better to render the entire chimney stack for a more permanent solution. Also, make sure the flashing and other potential weak points are addressed for the best results. Let me know if you’d like more advice!”

    Hi @mervmervalot2296, Great question! We prefer using 2.4m x 1.2m boards because they result in fewer joins, which means less chance of cracking and a stronger, smoother finish overall. However, we realise this isn’t always practical for everyone, so it’s all about finding what works best for the job at hand!

      Bigger area, so less cuts and less joints. If you're on your own, 1.8s are obviously much easier. But I'd always go for bigger board's.

    Hi @ianturner8459, Thanks for your comment! The ceiling joists were quite uneven, so the customer, who’s very handy, added the extra battens to help level things out and make boarding much easier. Glad you noticed the staggered boards - always good practice! 👍
