I know someone who did it for 18 months in his early 20’s hitching back packing. Sleeping in fields and byways and on beaches Etc. Simple life with everything he needed packed in a bag on his back ….. he then lived the ‘life ‘ working and paying taxes and ended up with property and assets as we are conditioned and programmed to do, but all this tied him down ..he was enslaved to the system….So 40 years later he walked out on his life again to live in a caravan in a field ……….ah the circle of life 😂

I read a lot of comments saying how much they admire his life. A romantic view i feel. His humility is charming, but British weather, no shower, no washing machine, living next to a road i doubt very much many of us would be able to handle it.

The gentleman spoke the prime reason , he lives with nature not against it , his own life , he's served his country , brought up his children . I lived that life , roaming the country and living under canvas . He doesn't beg of the state , it can be done , I've done it . Fine man . Fine life . Deep respect .

What if these are the people that are doing it right. Sometimes I look around me and I wonder where are the truly happy people? I see plenty of likeminded and similar folk, most of whom content… but happy? This man has rediscovered something that escapes a lot of us. An organic purpose. We do everything in life to reinvent that purpose, but he’s found the straightforward one. The one we were designed to have - to be simple creatures that co-exist within the world like all the other bloody animals about us. Almost makes me angry in a strange way. I’m away to see if his book was ever published…
