With about 37 checkins. It seems that RUclips doesn't like HF white noise, so it tried to do something with it and gave it a bit higher pitched hiss.

How to navigate SATpc32 for new users.
Просмотров 9 тыс.4 года назад
This video assumes: Your Radio(s) and Rotator(s) are already communicating with SATpc32. I did this for those new operators who can't seem to figure out the workflow on SATpc32 and to make their first handsfree (ish) QSO. Feel free to comment with other ideas that work for you. What is key is to let the software due most of the work for you. This is what worked for me on my IC-9700 and G-5400B ...

How I set up 2 copies of WSJT-x on my 6600. This will also work on a 6700. Or, if you have a 6300, 6400 or a 6500, you can just run 1 copy.

Good signals. Easy copy. 73 de af4od
On 40M, my noise floor is consistently S9. I don't need a 'scope to figure that out.
I was using Ham Radio Deluxe, but found the way it would do the doppler very intrusive, I already owned SatPC32, but found the UI difficult to use, but this video really helped me. What I do now is to use SatPC32 for the radio control, and HRD for the visuals, maybe not everyones cup of tea, but it works for me and feel like I stand a better chance of operating the satellites with the frequency and modes being correct via SatPC32 and the visuals spot-on with HRD.
Definitely worth it to have a local remote location
Great video!
I tried to use SATpc 32 last year with my 9700 and Yaesu 5500 rotor. I also had the HRD program and discovered that the SATpc32 showed the wrong positions for the birds and often had the wrong frequencies and or reverse upload and download. I just watched this video and tried SATpc32 again. I also have a brand new Geochron with the Ham add on. Well the SATpc32 does not show the proper position for the birds. What am I doing wrong? What is wrong with the program? I ended up getting CSN Technologies S.A.T. It works fine and agrees with Geochron.
Both HRD and SATpc32 work correctly. If you have a pointing issue, then either you have the wrong keps loaded or the wrong operating location. You will need to review your settings for SATpc32. As for frequencies, you do need to edit and review the doppler.sqf file for correctness. I have hundreds of QSO's using SATpc32 that have been flawless with perfect uplink and downlink tracking and once I put my RX on the person I want to work, I never touch another knob. As for what you are doing wrong, you may want to get on one of the groups and have them review your settings in SatPC32. I agree, it is complicated to learn. The manual does help. See if someone will share their doppler.sqf file.
Thanks!
Hi, what tripod do you use and what attachment did you opt for the dish? a rotating head? thanks 73 Marco in3ufw
Subscribed your an insane person and your attention to detail is more than it should be.
Great Stuff!! many tnx 73

Thank you. KO4JYU
Hi Michael, Can you tell me the make and model of your tripod that you see in the video?
Sorry for the delay in replying. It doesn't have a name / model but it is the one that surveyors use.
This is a cool video Michael I enjoyed it cheers
ICOM 905 review if you can please
Why does it not work with the skimmer sw remote? It used DAX right?
You can't us IQ DAX over SmartLink. There would be too much data loss.
I'm surprised you could even pull a signal outta all that noise. Good job
Thanks for the great info. I am going to get the new Icom 905 with the 10Ghz modules.
Hi Mike, I will email you on your Email address on QRZ. This is regarding Frankford Radio Club! Mark KB3Z
Michael I mentioned your video on the Frankford Radio Club Slack Site. We were discussing last evening about remote HF Operating. Mark KB3Z
I can always do a presentation if they like. Just let me know. 73
@@michaelwalker718 Michael, I wrote a message on the Slack Channel regarding your offer. If I hear anything, I will let you know. Mark KB3Z
Great job Mike! A remote talk on remote radio!
Yea! It wasn't planned the way, but that is the way it ended up. It was a good thing I had it recorded ... just in case.
Great presentation. If you can drop a few of the links in your show notes that would be great.
Richard, you can scan the QR code at the end and get the presentation and the links.
Thanks my friend for that presentation it’s very beautiful, first time for me to know all that stuff for remotely ham operations 73 Tarek SU1TA
Very well done Mike
Can we get a copy of your PDF?
Yes, if you scan the QR code at the end, you'll get a copy.
I just did 377km today for my longest one so far. Rain scatter season is starting.
Hi Michael, Thanks for posting this. I’m in the brainstorming stage of setting up a portable 10GHz system. During lockdown I completed a few projects such as commissioning a DMR repeater and setting up an up/downlink system for the QO-100 satellite - look up Denby dale M0SNR and you will find my presentation. Not sure if you have seen Rex VK7MO’s EME video’s but he is an inspiration :) 73.
Are you using a Gunn oscillator in the rig? Saw a 10 giga Hz Tx in an ARRL handbook back in the 90's. Would love to do some mountain top work in the mountains back in NM.
No, I am using the DEMI 3 watt transverter.
They dont make these antennas anymore I dont think. I used to own two of them and sold them like an idiot. I would love to have them back. I also had an NCC2 and the ARAV units and the NCC were absolutely stellar!
Great DIY Video ! 73's from California
Mike, you may have just given me the 10Ghz bug. I already have the dish sitting unused behind my shed.
That is how it started with me. And, once I saw some of the distances they were working, it got me going.
This was very helpful. The UI is by no means intuitive, but the software sure is effective.
Very instructive video. Love your work flow.
Looks good. When I finally get to finishing mine we’ll have to try a QSO. - N2OA
I built a second one, exactly the same for VE3SST and he is killing it! You'll need to look for him on the 10GhzandUp Slack channel.
Interesting and wow, what a difference. I use an 66ft endfed and just have quite a bit of noise. Have you tried any other antenna types for comparisons like you did with the windom?
Hi Michael, where can I get a copy of this software..
I was lamenting that Icom in the 9700 did not allow cw send while in ssb sat mode. Then I saw your video and the 'light' went on... If I pick cw, then I don't have to learn to whistle, I can send a series of dots till I hear myself and then, shut it off... I have sent ur vid to a couple of my friends struggling with the ins and outs of this fine program. Thanks for sharing your finds... de wb7ond
" it inverts"...is this using a second receive antenna, or the Xmit antenna? I was interested in the RSPDuo - used as a phase noise canceller- using its dual antenna inputs/dual tuners for phase inversion etc. . I am missing a clear explanation on the Flex NB / DNR noise reduction you demonstrate. . Is it done in software only with one tuner, or requiring a second antenna with built in second tuner ? I believe it has diversity reception so assume your demo is demonstrating both a hardware/software NB and a dual 2 antenna & tuner phase cancellation? Tnx from a green Flex prospect.
That is one technology that is available. That is not what is happening here. It determines the 'noise' based on the sampled frequency patterns and then inverts in software.
Great video Mike! I added a link to it on the Satellite FAQ and How-To wiki: sats.wikidot.com/ 73, John Brier KG4AKV
Awesome. It has helped a few people! :)
Thanks for the video. Just got SatPc32 and was lost, now with your video I am able to start using it. Thanks.
Great information, Mike. I've been chasing my tail on this same topic. I do have one question: when you set the CAT calibration (on the uplink side) it shows the calibration value in the line above the frequency readouts above the map. But when I "Save" it in the "Change/Store Dataf File", that calibration number goes away. Did I save it wrong? Or is that number saved in the doppler file? The reason I ask, is because as soon as I save that calibration number, I am no longer sync'd with the satellite, I no longer hear myself. By the time I try the number again, the satellite is gone or I'm so far off I don't know where I am. Obviously I'm doing something wrong. Again, thanks for sharing. Craig W0AP
Hi Craig, I am not sure. You might want to ask that in the AMSAT email reflector. They might have an idea.
Thank you! Setting my station up now.
Thanks for the video. Was a big help.
Is there guidance anywhere describing how to set up the radio and rotator with SATpc32? Thank you
Are you still running this setup? I'm in a small urban plot and am looking for a better RX option. This could be it! Any input is greatly appreciated, your video made it sound like a winner.
I am, but it can be hit and miss with them. If you are urban, you might want to also try the NCC-2 and see if that helps.
Thank you!
Good presentation. I’m struggling with the rs232a with satpc. Good to hear your real voice off of the birds
There is a newer version of Satpc32. You can have 24 Satellites.
Thanks for this. enough to get me started!
that was the goal.. I wanted to touch on on all the things that I wasn't able to put together in the workflow. I knew what I needed to do, but I couldn't get there.
Many thanks. It will be a magnific vídeo if includes a real example listening to the downlink.... think about it...
If you search here on RUclips, there are many others with a live QSO. For the moment, that was beyond the scope of what I wanted to do for this video. Maybe later.
