I always, always leave out steps in my budgeting/money process. That's what leads to increasing credit card balances, with only paying the minimums and no real plan to pay down the real balance. Yes, its a couple of extra steps (and way more thinking) but I find this step super helpful for myself. Let's give it time and I will reporting back.

Welcome back & great video 😊👋❤️
I really enjoyed listening to your toddler. She was soooo funny.
I have not tricks. Just do what you can when you can. Thank you for sharing.
Aww, thank you so much @craftandbudgetwithanh 🥹😊
I also have 4 kids. Groceries have skyrocketed, it is so much more expensive to feed them than it was before the events of 2020.
Oh gosh yes, I think we are feeling it more and more as our family grows. My teen boys eat like men, like seriously LOL. They have a big snack when they get home, still eat dinner, and will still have a snack before bed. 17 and 14 year olds, bottomless pits😂. And then I have a picky eater right now, so got to get her the actual foods she does eat, and the baby now is eating solids🥰. I hopefully (today actually😉) want to record a grocery haul, along with the meals we make, and home much it all costs, feeding a family of 6+2 dogs Stay tuned and thanks for watching😇🤩😃
I am new here what you guys are doing for living ? And which state you are ?
Hi @joladadak we currently live in Texas, originally from Oregon. We both are regular full time employees. Im in the medical admin field, and my husband is in the Quality field for manufacturing.
ooof 200 more a month in your mortgage payment. can i get chickens lol.
I know. I cant convince my husband tho, I will keep you all posted if it ever does become.
is there a reason for eating out during debt? Any at home meal planning? You mentioned minutes into video that you have no money. Looking for guidance on that.
Hi @badlands9100 I do try to meal plan, but these last couple of months I have been feeling the "meal planning burnout". So excuse but it is whats going on here. Ive also seen that sometimes, when we dine out its cheaper than groceries. Honestly just need to get back in the habit of planning, shopping, cooking and packing up for the next day. Im hoping to make some of those videos, cause the food category is always something we can work on. Thanks for watching, keep on!
listening and watching. Thanks for sharing and for the knowledge.
Good morning hun
Thanks for watching!
Do you have social media links?
Hi, I do not right now 😊
Hi 👋 i just found your channel and loving your content. What does your planning system consist of? Love seeing all, the notebooks would love some ideas on simple paper systems that are functional.❤ ❤
@kershianagiah I would love to make a video like that, showing my whole process. It changes from time to time, but that would be a good thing to share. Thanks, be on the look out for a video like this!
@adultingtime Yay! thank you 😊
Lovely point you made about making memories😀
Hey friend! New subbie! 🫶 Excited to be here supporting you! 💃great video!! 💜
Hey there @alexistacklesmoney Thank you so much 🥹 Supporting right back 💞
I love how budgeting is personal to every household. I enjoy just the simple pencil and pen budgeting. I usually schedule my budgeting days for Wednesday’s and Sunday ’s thanks to Books & Budgets for the tip. Thanks for sharing.
Yes! I love pen and paper, but sometimes I do run into needing more space or wanting to be more detailed. So I am thinking of using Google Sheets, but maybe in addition instead of. Im glad you like the video, budgeting is very personal everyone has their own style. I love @booksandbudgets22
Loving the closeout budget 👍💚🤑
Happy Saturday, thanks for sharing your budget closeout. Good job!! 🎉🎉
I love the breakdown and your process. You are making good progress
Hey friend here watching! Great budget closeout video and I'm now subscribed! Excited to follow your financial journey, your videos are added to queue. Also thank you for the shout out and support 💖
@simorplans Thank you so much! It really means a lot!
Hi, youre doing a great job being consistent w your budget!
Every transaction and its amount outside of unexpected and needed expenses is budgeted and has money for it sitting in the bank; we have buffers of saved and more money than in the current budget. We have a few store cards which we've genreally paid off within days. We use these periodically but keep them for savings on bigger purchases and/ or a 0% interest promotional loan if wanted/ needed. For our other credit transactions, we use only one card (easier to keep track of) for budgeted and also specific types of needed transactions; often we won't know the amounts ahead of time. We pay both the posted and pending transactions multiple times per month in person under the watchful eye of a camera following a pattern; yes we had one card number used fraudulently, another never came to us in the mail, and there have been more hacked data notices than we can count on two hands. - We use our card much like a debit card and in place of a debt card if we have concerns.
Thanks for the updatea!💬💢
Do consider tracking eating out separately from groceries. For the budget, write groceries and tge $350 but add an indented line titled eating out. Dont put a budgeted amount for eating out, let it remain bundled with the grocery money. When doing the budget recap add put actual sum spent on food from the grocery store to and eating out tomthecright of groceries, put the amount spent on eating out to the righ vof the indented eating out line item. Im guessing that younare spending as much if not more on eating out than groceries from tge grocery store.
You are WAY over spending on the week end. If you divide $150 by 2 days, you have $75 maximum to spend per day; $50/ day if 3 days; and $37.50 if spread across 4 days.
Yes, yes, yes please do a debt break down all on one sheet with name of debt, beginning balance, percent interest, minimum payment, amount paid, and ending balance. As desired, create a form you like, get photcopies at the library, then staple into your note book; onecphiyi coot to a side of a page. Or scour the internet for a free form you like, print it, staple it to your notebook across the top (leaves the page underneath usable), and try it out. Dont settle on a form by printing extra copies until you're sure you like it.
Im confused ... it seems youre way over budget?
Hey @terryhenderson424, I didnt even total it up lol😬. For that week we came in at $1831.53 and $1948 was the budget for the week, and our total income for that week was $2336.13. Pretty close😖. I agree, the actual budgeting is what is important. I might just do my budget on my time and just record and walk through everything when I have time. With summer coming up this house is going to be busy. Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for watching!
@@adultingtime Sorry, I obviously got lost..... It would be my advice to have a clear destination or allocation for all income overages or budgetary line item underages before you even set down to write a monthly budget. These can be different for different budgetary line items and even a split of a large sum of left over money during this time of income plenty. My second bit of advice is to spend a large amount during this time of income plenty to reduce your debt minimum payments. This may mean paying off debts or it could mean paying down debts with variable, minimum payments based upon the balance owing. My third price of advice is to try to get a barer bones budget that comes in at or under the $13×× paycheck amount. When the income is plentiful pay down debt, get some retirement funds going, add to your savings, fund sinking funds, buy toys you can afford to use during the leaner times, and/ or do trios and entertainment; but only when fully funded by the extra income. You will only truly return money to your budget by paying off debt and remaining out of debt. The interest savings in paid off balances often exceeds the value of any legal investment, high yield savings account, or rewards points.
@@adultingtime congratulations for coming at budget, even better under budget. That allows you to wisely direct your income overages to meet your financial goals.
Keep the $11, phone storage in the budget. On the months youre getting a credit, or dont have to pay, count it as an underage.
The videos are not as important as the actual budgeting.
Hello, catching up on videos. Great job.
Great job paying off your CC! a trip to waco to do all the magnolia things is on my bucket list!
Thank you @mrssummersbudgets pulling all that cash together to just pay off 1 card, was hard for me. But at least that card is done with. Yes! I have been in Texas for a year now (mostly pregnant tho, so walking around was out of the question lol) and have not been able to do anything off my bucket list, Yet☺
Complete expense tracking of everything can become laborious. It can be valuable though too; in your budgeting history through time its importance may varry or change too. One thing that helps is to get a receipt for EVERYTHING and a home or place for gpthose receipts that you can take with you. If you religiously get receipts, they are only valuable if you religiously set time aside and record the info off those receipts into your expense tracking system.
Another thing that has helped us is openinf different accts for lets say, vacation fund, annual bills, emergency acct, christmas fund. After all bills are paid and you moved mo ey into different categories...what is left over you can divide into those accts for the ones listed above.
For stuff like clothes, pets, household l clump it into miscellaneous. Separating every little category just is too much for some ppl like me.
Hi... I enjoy your videos!! For sinking funds are having set aside categories for different purchases. I used to be in the spot like you where l would get so confused and a bit overwhelmed with how to save for certain purchases. What l did to simplify this. I broke up my budget into simple groups. Such as food/gas, miscellaneous, unexpected or unbudgeted, personal money, month ahead, and bills. Everything that isnt food or gas or doesnt fall into the listed categories go to unbudgeted. Then add up things that are a regular monthly expense and see how much need to go into each categories. I also divide into weekly. Bec we get paid weekly. But you can do for 2 weeks at a time. You just have to try it and see what will work best. Its a learning process too. Im still figuring out what works and what doesnt. You're doing great bec you are being intentional trying to figure what system works best.. not just giving up altogether 😅 .its not easy for sure.
You’re doing an amazing job!!!
Great work I hope you are doing well back at work. In Australia eating out for our family of 4 will cost 150 per meal. Must be cheaper for food over there. I feel you’re doing good on the food.
There are plenty of Etsy sellers that have what you're looking for in Google sheets and they are relatively cheap.
Have you considered something like child care in your home? If you use cash withiut a loyalty or other card, there is no electronic nor paper trail.
Go over your blue highlighted items. Dog food is an essential if you have a dog; it needs to go in the budget one way or another but, can you reduce the cost in some way? You need baby formula and also diapers but again, is there a way to reduce the cost? Clothing costs can be reduced by limiting the amount of clothing, doing hand me downs with other people, amd buying used. The list goes on.
Hey girl great budget I’m figuring out my debt as well. I’m new here I use to be a DIY budgeting! I made my budget book myself this year it works for me. Keep going 😊
YNAB is the best software IMO. Love this content! Looking forward to debt confession.
Mrs. P has free budget sheets on her channel!
Hey Heeeyyyyyy! Happy Saturday! New Subbie Here! 🤗
I do a monthly overview but do biweekly budgeting, with my paychecks. I use my cc's but pay them off weekly - for my variable budgets - groceries, household, animals, gas, eat out. I have sinking funds set up and have added more as our income has increased over the years. I was super debt focused in the beginning and only had sinking funds for kids, emergency fund, Christmas, sports and back to school. I've added on subscriptions, car, pets, and vacation as time has gone by.
your categories need adjusting..bc you didnt budget for dog food doesnt make it unbudgeted.. u knew u needed dog food but didnt plan for it. same w baby things, you knew youd need diapers and such but you dont have a category for it in your budget. if you budget for them every month and u have money left over you could pull it out and put it in an envelope for a sinnking fund.
Hi! Do you guys use an electronic version of the budget so he can see and use it in real time? Like the every dollar app? yall can talk about the upcoming month and what you have going on and make a monthly budget together and then track transactions electronically so you both see whats going on everyday.
I easily spend 250 on groceries for a family of 5.i think changing it to 300 would work for yall
Yep I think that is what Im going to do starting in April, and if we ever come in under budget ( 🙏🏽 ) then thats money saved.
Weighing in - perhaps you can up the food amount💸 to $250 for starters and keep a handle on it. 💨🗯🙌
Thanks for watching! I agree, I think we will be chatting about upping our food budget, and also maybe adding the dog food to our regular budget instead of trying it out as a sinking fund.
New sub here just started my journey
