Very nice design. Pricing please?
Great work I'll send you my van soon
Getting ready to do Andrews conversion are you?
Coud you give me some information about The hing?
hey mate, for sure we can if you drop your email one of the team will get in contact with more info on the hinge.
Would love to see the rest of the build.
Did you get the normal height Headspace conversion or the high-top version? I'm asking because I am wondering if the Troopie will fit into a shipping container with a standard 40mm suspension lift and set of 285 tires. Your thoughts on this?
This one is actually the Premium High-Top conversion! If you drop your email, I’ll get one of our team members to reach out with more info on the heights
Ollie - is Headspace going to be making a 270 degree awning? I seem to recall mention of it somewhere. I'm in the market for one, but would be interested in considering one from HS if available.
Hey! Yes, we do make our own 270 degree awning. If you drop your email, I’ll have one of the team reach out with more info!
Nice one. Genormous amount of water you can carry. Where is the second tank?
I was going to ask the same thing.
The 90L LRA tank is installed on the left hand side of the drive shaft, and the 65L ArkEarth tank sits at the rear of the vehicle.
@@bigred6927 very helpful thanks.
Nice well thought out set up . Cheers. From Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. 🍻😁👍🏼
The best roof conversion by miles. Great job!
Glad you think so! Thank you
Camper goals 😍
So there’s 5 people going around the world in that car ?!
Yes, that's right! There are 5 people going around the world in that car. It’s going to be an epic adventure!
@@headspacecampers it’s gonna be tight 😬
Fantastic, Love your work!
Thank you! Cheers!
Does a Troopie with the Headspace HT fit into a shipping container with the standard upgrade of a 40mm lift and upgraded 285 tyres? Seeing as though you see these all the time I thought you might be the best person to ask.
Thanks for reaching out! If you could send over your name and email, we’ll get one of our team members to reach out with more detail.
Dream car 😍
Thanks mate, how good is is!
Nice like the warmth of the wood look . Cheers
Thanks legend!
@@headspacecampers 🍻👍🏼😁
Can these be purchased as a supply only?
We can definitely do that! If you’re interested, send us your email and we’ll be sure to send over some more info. 😊
Would it be available in the UK? I am planning a conversion and looking at the various pop-top roofs available For true overlanding, outside Australia, internal latches and security would be the number one criterion. Additional weight of the roof conversion would be number 2. I like the Mulgo and Headspace, but Mulgo will not ship to the UK. Alucab will not consider internal latches despite a request X vision X ( good price, design, roll cage compatibility ,perhaps currently the the best roof for UK/ Europe conversions) , ex-tec( good price, design), Entreq( way too expensive) - German roofs are good but do not open high enough. Although they are TauV approved. Retaining the beautiful Alpine windows of the Defender is a big consideration, something the Alucab does not do and makes it look boxy The hydraulic lift assist on the Alucab and the option to add an additional stronger strut would be important too. The slatted bed, light weight mattress are other considerations. The only real UK based Poptop roof other than dormobile is AW4X4- steel frame and looks good but might be too top heavy I love the design of the Headspace campers roof. I think that there is a potentially large market in Europe and the UK. Importing it from Oz and paying shipping plus 20% VAT makes it uneconomical. I’d like the Aussie roofs to be available in the UK/ Europe so that there is a better choice.
Beautiful conversion! Very classy. I wish I was in Oz to be able access all the great kit you have there, warm dry weather, and lots of open space!
Love your conversion. I actually designed my own very similar while back for my Isuzu Trooper. Very cool though to see someone like yourself make it into production. You seem like a genuine person. Thank you for you passion!
It’s nice to see others entering this space
Take my moneyyyyyyy alreadyyyy 🥰🥰🥰
Looks fantastic, just wondering if it rains & you have to close it down does your bedding get wet?
Awesome
Thanks, Steve!
@@headspacecampers…love the new video on the troopys top and all the information on your spectacular tops . added a lot about the details to your tops that I did not know about , very well designed , like them even more now . Very informative. And like the well thought out designs and buildmanship on the top , and really like your awnings as well great design. Thanks again for sharing the wonderful build designs on all you do . Definitely will be getting one for are defender build as I can afford to ( as well as a awning ) , well worth the cost in my thinking for the spectacular design work put in to them . Impressive design and build. Very logical mechanisms.

Icarus, alucab....
What about it? We're happy to point out the main points of difference between a Headspace Camper and Alu-Cab's Icarus roof conversion if you're considering either.
The comment "there wasn't something on the market that.." triggered my far to short a comment. With the icurus in such wide circulation and with such critical acclaim, I think your offered video to explore the differences between the two and I guess specifically how yours is superior or in ways better thought out, that would be a very valuable piece of marketing. As it stands yes. I would very much like to convert to this style of roof top sleeper. And I appreciate your local. So I'm subscribed and awaiting more. Thank you for your reply.
@@sprocketdiver190 no problem at all and thanks for your suggestion! The main points of difference between the two are height and weight, headspace, place of manufacture and reversibility. We'll upload more videos as soon as we get the opportunity to film some more content, so stay tuned!
@@headspacecampers rad! Cheers.
Lastima no se ve nada de cómo lo tienes por dentro.
We agree! Our next video upload will show much more detail from both inside and outside the roof conversion :)
I think I saw this Defender lurking around Sydney (Bondi Junction recently)....
That's the one! A customer from Sydney kindly lent us his Defender for a photoshoot :)
@@headspacecampers They look good.
@@nnoddy8161 thanks very much!
Nice job. I’m building a rooftop room like this out of second hand stuff the canvas sourcing is daunting. This is the nicest one I have seen.
Thanks! The canvas is by far the biggest challenge we faced during the prototyping stage. It's also a dying trade, so finding quality canvas makers is more difficult than we first anticipated! Best of luck with your build. We'd be keen to see what you come up with if you're building it purely out of recycled goods :)
um, well, don't want to be nitpicking but... "low profile, curved, light weight"? The one we have on our Defender and a couple of other makes seem to better your design in many aspects (e.g. our frame is 45kg, it doesn't protrude at the front and look better on the rear, too). External latches are easy to break. What I DO like is what you did with fabric - the large windows and overhangs 👍
Thanks for your feedback Frank! Our goal is to offer the best possible products to our customers, so we'd love to see photos of your roof conversion and compare it to ours in terms of durability and functionality. There are a few points you need to consider when drawing this sort of comparison. Is your 45kg roof conversion also ADR compliant and transferable? Is your foam mattress lightweight? Are you able to stand on top of your bed to get changed, or do you have to push the bed frame into the ceiling and change downstairs? We personally haven't seen many roof conversions lift to 42º. We'd also prefer you not to comment on the durability of our latches until you see them in person, as there is a reason they cost $92USD each! In any case, we appreciate your feedback and we're open to suggestions on how to improve our Defender 110 roof conversion.
@@headspacecampers Hi. Agree that there are many points to consider. Before we got ours (x-vision-x de, Drexl de) we compared five or six makes that were avaliable at the time and have since seen a few more. They are very popular in Germany and Europe. The German yt channel '4x4 passion' has a number of people presenting their Defenders, or search yt for 'Defender roomtour'. Also the UK forum defender2 net had a recent discussion titled 'pop tops other than alucab' with load of different makes. Sorry, yt doesn't allow to post links here :/ As for the latches I meant vandalism and theft, not durability. Some of the pop tops have internal locking mechanisms. Also external latches and gas struts (e.g. alucab) limit the option to glue a channel rail to the lower frame. I did this on each side and made some lightweight tarps to protect from sun and rain without the gap that awnings usually leave between the fixing and the roof.
@@frank-lr thanks for clarifying! The pop top you chose in the end has a very unique design and it's something we haven't yet come across in Australia. We did a fair bit of research on some of the links you suggested prior to finalising our design in order to fill the gap in the market while maintaining a factory look as much as possible. Headspace was obviously the biggest consideration for us, in addition to maximising the bed width and designing a wrap-around awning for the ultimate weather protection. Our external latches are lockable and we also offer internal latches at no extra cost for those who prefer the internal locking mechanism. We'll upgrade our design as we see fit later on down the track, but we appreciate your feedback!
I Want one! 🙏🏼
Have you put one on a perentie yet?
Haha, thanks Adam! We're now taking orders for October if you're interested :)
Awesome design one of the cleanest defender rooftops I’ve seen. If I ever make the conversion I will consider your product
Thanks Ashley! We'd love to hear from you if you ever decide to go down that path :)
Great review, keep going.😍
Thanks so much! We appreciate your support :)
By any chance, that will ever be available for a range rover classic? Looks amazing
Thanks very much! Unfortunately, we won't be designing a roof conversion for the Range Rover Classic anytime soon. Our plan is to release 3-4 new models by the end of 2023, so feel free to keep an eye out on future releases here: headspacecampers.com/products.
I don't own a Defender but if I had one this is what I would want. Super clean. Question as a consumer. If I were to a Discovery so I could stand up inside (especially bad weather) why not have the locking mechanisms on the inside? You could park in the rain, open it and it would eliminate the need for the lock yeah? Just curious, looks awesome!
Thanks for your feedback! We offer our customers internal latches as the current design allows us to place them on the inside of the vehicle, but it would mean sacrificing the two trap doors so the canvas would be visible from the inside. While we think it looks neater having the lock down catches on the outside, this is a simple modification that is available to anyone at no extra cost. Feel free to check out our new roof conversions coming soon here: headspacecampers.com/products.

Could you the latches inside of the defender instead of outside?
