The GT40 does sound great but I think you went a little overboard on the starting procedure, I mean it's no airplane, just turn the key and boom, it starts, and 78 degrees is hardly a "cold start".

What does the throttle pump do for you pre-start on a fuel injected engine? Is there an accelerator pump type feature? Something to richen the mixture for starting?
