body deadener V stone guard hj build part 2
Yeah nah
Absolutely great project and can’t wait to see the progress also why do people get annoyed at patina I reckon it looks good it’s only original once especially on the outside
As an old body person I think patina is just a lassy person's way out of doing body work I have a hj Ls fully optioned wagon 253 tbar auto 4wheel disc gts dash aircon sitting in a barn ? Will run if needed in gippsland
Cheers for the comment I reckon it's going to look cool , surfboard on the roof sweet 😅
Mate . The kingswood ,a Ted bullpit special. Hz wagon, nice project car. Enjoy the build. 👍🍺
Cheers for watching and thanks for the support, means a lot. I reckon its going to look cool
great real vid Grumpy🤙 can't wait for the next one!
Thanks mate I'm working on it! Should be couple weeks
Howdy from Texas, USA! We call cars like yours an original "Survivor" here. It is a popular segment of our classic car culture. Getting them back on the road with reliable mechanicals, without a total restoration. What year is it?
Cheers it's a 1978 Took a while to by it from the owner but it will now live and drive hopefully before the end of xmass break freshening up the engine today fingers crossed all goes well Thanks for commenting All the best to you and your family Cheers Dave
Nice car
Baaaarn Findddd! yown
Firstly love the project, have been a GM fan for decades. Please do me a favour though, and slow down the camera pans... they're not only way too fast to see any detail ... but in my case, I get motion sickness
Sorry mate will do Cheers for watching
I run most of the videos I watch at 1.5 speed. Sometimes when I want detail I run that bit at .75 or even .5 speed
That's a HZ mate. Definitely not HJ
My wrong just so used to say hj Cheers
"I'm going to leave the patina on it, as original as I could", in other words I have not got the skills or money to do it properly.
Ahh good comment , if you not educate , that's not my fault, the video is about getting it ready running at the lowest cost , if you want to watch hour after hour someone rubbing a car body down this isn't for you , or maybe subscribe you mine surprised. Like the video says ,I cover everything
5k good buy especially if you have to skills to get her on the road. Good video 😊
Cheers yes I have the skills but not everyone can do everything, even I carnt wait for the end
Fantastic to see and hear Australia content on an Australian vehicle.
Trying my best to show just what it takes in Australia to get a vehicle ready for the road extremely strict here is Australia
Agree with the idea of this project. Think you missed a opportunity to school some of the viewers on values though. You never have to say what you actually paid, just say ' between ranges ' because at the end of the day, the market always dictates the price. Thanks for the story 😊
Cheers it's hard to price , I'm doing 3 different prices at the end 3 different hours spent, 1 basic get it driving 2 what I'm doing 3 complete resto Hopefully it's informative
😮chabelo vive😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮eres tu chabelo😂
Nice car. Well done. Yeah that diff is not the original one for the car, it is a 6 cylinger Bango Diff not a V8 Suilsbury Diff. If you get on the gas you will destroy that diff center. I would find a sulisbury diff if I was you. Cheers Stew.
Yeah it was swapped out before I got it, cheers!
Stumbled across this randomly. I just bought a 253 Hz 1 tonner just out of rego 8 mths ago. The time to restore & rebuild is the biggest issue...1 step at a time I suppose.Parked on the 2 poster in my 1 man Exhaust shop. Looking forward to further updates. Cheers from Qld.
the last one of those i brought was a lic, running prem for the princely sum of $850 bucks mind you it was 2002
When we were kids would always pick up cars for free get it running and you can have it Fj torana eh hr ek
Our family had one , wagon under dash Aircon, tow bar and pump up air shocks at backit was an ex company car super clean, bought it in 1987 for around 5500 bucks
cut my teeth on these very easy to work on . enjoy project. have my eye on barn find ht prem just waiting for the price to come down on it
That's what this video is about trying to show owners just what goes into getting a bar find road ready at the lowest price Cheers good luck with the prem
@@grumpysgarage4387 most of the youngies wouldnt know how to acutally fix a car. rebuild a carby and such
Lovin these Vids 🍻
Great Stuff , Cheers For doing a series like this ,, Subbed Legend 🍻🍻
Cheers the more I get into it more I'm find missing, will set me back a little
@@grumpysgarage4387 I'll be going through the same deal Soon enough , Need to keep these Classics on the Road , Watching you do this is bringing back Motivation , what i used to do all the time years ago ,, A Refresher Course , Loving it 🍻
Where's Part 2 Grumpy?😁
The vacationer
If u got money to find t restore these cars be great
Thanks for the advice to use sorch Brite and soapy water i don't have a hoist so i Will clean boagan style
it works a treat
So the blue HZ or HJ wagon, what was it roughly worth before cleaning it up? We looking at round $10 thousand?
the price was around 8k ended up getting it for 5k should be looking around 6-7k to get it on the road fingers crossed
It was a shit car in its day its a shit car now , i don't understand why people pay good money for these shitboxes.
they were all shit cheap cars in the day
Aussie icons mate, Look after them and they out last anything.
Yea I agree but that shit car took me places all over Australia an bush bashing for $100 for years then went to the wreckers for $100😅
And that's true ,but by the time you restore it's cost a bomb and there are better late model cars for less money .
It's about the build and the love of it,not the cost .
Just found your channel. I dig ya vid. Subscribed for more👍🏼
Thanks heaps for subscribing!
"These guards are just like brand new - just got dents in 'em". You gotta love the optimism.
As soon as you said patina you lost me
Each to their own I guess
Looks like a “ Vacationer” with the two tone roof.
Yep sure is , a rare car and looked great when they were new. Also came in a brown bronze colour with cream roof.
yes it is wasn't a fan back in the day
Good to see your not attacking the old girl with a impact gun! Clean hz wagon you have there
I remember doing the ball joints on the side of the road pain in the ass
Mixed messages your title says HZ but you say HJ Original HJ's had a long sweeping speedo unless GTS also early HZ did not have RTS radial tuned suspension but later ones did just going by what I can see it would be HX - very early HZ without seeing the color of the instruments
My wrong just so used to saying J due to the other build cheers
Looks like a HZ It has the square instruments with round dials. The Kingswood SL badges were only on the HZ series. Probably not a HJ as they go have the long Speedo.
my wrong just so used to saying J
Amazing, a non rusty Holden. Must be far away from the ocean.
No to ball no boating holidays I'm guessing
I see the ac comp but looking at the fire wall that is not a factory ac unit and should have Salisbury ass end not banjo factory v8s all had Salisbury from HQ. ID plate should tell you every thing.
The A/C has me stumped but he did explain in the vid why it had the banjo.
the air was dealership fitted back in the day Diff was swapped out
Just subbed, love ya work. And you waited until 2.30pm to crack a coldie, that's dedication right there.👍
hard not to have a beer just 5 steps away lol
This is the way 🍻
Why did you want to leave the dust and mud
Being a factory v8 car should be a sailsbury diff not a banjo
The owner let his mate swap it out That's why I didn't reco it Cheers
You'll never have a shed big enough, don't ask me why I say that!!
Really like the way you've done this video. Some tips, done stuff, not too much yapping without action. Love the project, what are you going to do to clean your fuel tank?
The tank was very clean on the inside Cheers
Soon these old cars will be ban with all this green energy waist time money.
That will never happen, 2 words India China
@grumpysgarage4387 all got to do is open eyes if you cant see what's coming just wait see eny wind mills solar panels?
You're talking out of your arse!
I had a HZ 5 litre 4 speed wagon in the late 90's. It was in great condition and had a fully rebuilt gearbox which most of the reason I got 4k for it when I sold it. What's worse is I declined to swap for an XT GT that needed some love. Ugh if I had of known.
You now my sons always what if kept those cars I always reply gts gt whatever we used them for work and play, blessed to have experienced the old days Cheers
@grumpysgarage4387 💯
GREAT WORK GRUMPY!!💥💪👊
Cheers Glenn
I've got a HJ panel van Sandman I've had it for about 30 years no way I will get rid of it they are worth a bloody fortune especially if you got a V8
Love the original number plates Especially because of the 3 letters Very cool
They are cool 😎
Holden service manual are good wit nuts and bolt sizes
Luckily we have h series gooroo up here Cheers
These days mate you want a car to be worth 100k you spend 200k
That's very true Cheers
Good vid mate. I've got a 350 HZ tunner that's been parked up in the back of the shed in as good condition for the last 8 years. Just can't seem to find the time with all the other projects I've got on the go.
I'm doing this for 2 reasons First there is heaps of cars out there 2 I needed motivation something I know that gets me of my ass , between work and family time gets away , 23 days left to finish her wish me luck Cheers
That’s a HZ not a HJ but nonetheless it looks like a good basis for a project.
Haha after all the time editing the video I didn't pick it up until I uploaded the video Then I had I'm a idiot moment Cheers for watching
Deauville Blue? I had a HX Sandman in that colour... 308 Auto, LSD, pump up rear suspension, Ivory interior, windows on the side, striping. Last seen c1982, Staff carpark, Russell St Police HQ Melb. I'd love to have it back.
@@TheHsan22 Yep bloody coppers will knock off anything not nailed down........😂
@colinl9018 lol...I sold it in 1981. I used to park in that car park afterhours for years, never challenged.
Nothing really good about that, I’ve sold better hq, hz, wb, and even my hg all were loads better, this car is a pile of crap if you ask me! Plus my mates $100 hq was loads better and any early Holden to be honest is not worth more than 5000 if you ask me I will not buy it. I would never touch it, or waste my time with that piece of shit. Never would I buy an old Holden again anyway, do you wonder why no more Holden in Australia? Haha They were always cheap cars in the days compared to some fords, obviously people buying them now for bullshit prices are blindsighted or were not around at the time to know the crap value and just a shitbox cheap car they were to buy. I had a few because of lack of money and needing a shitbox runabout. Mind you I did own other marquees but I do know the Holden cars truly are just good to run into the ground. Like the hq races. That’s all not keepers or of any value truly.
While im not a holden fan ,me and the rest of the family have owned dozens . Mzny bought new back in the 70's through to the 2020 ' although crap like trackers dont really count . This will be a nice colour combo id say .
Cheers hope you enjoyed watching
