    I just saw your video, ive never seen them before. What is the advantage of these pads?

    • @clothconnectionoutreachcharity
      @clothconnectionoutreachcharity 2 месяца назад

      These pads are nice for active people because they don't have snaps or wings to rub on thighs. You can also look through the layers to judge how saturated the layers are. With no waterproof layer they are very breathable too so great for people who tend to be warmer or live in warm weather.

    • @clothconnectionoutreachcharity

      you can use any regular sewing foot or a walking foot. The walking foot feeds top and bottom fabrics at the same speed so makes pads turn out better imo.

    • @clothconnectionoutreachcharity
      @clothconnectionoutreachcharity 5 месяцев назад

      Hi! Yes we do! If they don't have a water resistant backer, we suggest adding more core or we usually put them in the lower absorbency bins to prevent possible leaks from too heavy flow. Zorb is a fantastic core and is what most donations are made out of <3 Thank you for considering donating to us to help end period poverty!

  • @AvisNel

    May ask why you cut through the layers

    • @clothconnectionoutreachcharity
      @clothconnectionoutreachcharity 5 месяцев назад

      @AvisNel cutting through just a few of the layers on a diagonal will cause them to fray slightly and it helps crab flow and pulls it into the core fast. It's great for fast, gushy flows or large clots.

    What is PUL used to make waterproof?

    • @clothconnectionoutreachcharity
      @clothconnectionoutreachcharity 7 месяцев назад

      You can use PUL on one side, the tricky part is it would now not be reversible and you'd have to make sure you know which one has the PUL in it.

    • @SusanBurns-v8c
      @SusanBurns-v8c 6 месяцев назад

      “Polyurethane Laminate Fabric” or PUL is a soft, flexible, hardwearing and waterproof fabric. PUL is a laminate fabric comprised of 2 layers: a polyester fabric (typically 1mm thick) with a very thin layer of polyurethane film bonded to the reverse. I did not know either!

    Unless the finished pads are going to be sanitized after the cat has been toucing the work space and the hands are clean from touching the cat, I would "not" give those pads away to the charit(ies). It's just totally disgusting. I never let my animals in my sewings room and when I do my pads, I wear clothes free of animal excess.

    • @clothconnectionoutreachcharity

      You are free to have your own opinion even if we don't agree with it. Everything should be washed, even new clothes, because there's lots of things that touch it in transit. This is no different. If you don't support our mission and the work we do, please feel free to leave. We want supportive people here.

    Not that long ago, my church did a pad and tampon drive because some kids in a nearby town did not have that money to buy them. And when they're on their period, they would stay home because they could not afford to buy pads. The turnout was big and many people donated a lot. But then we got word they ran out and needed more. But I've been thinking if they knew how to make cloth pads they would last for at least 3 years. But I'm too ashamed to tell my church this. What should I do?

    Do you take donations? I have a box of cloth pads and accessories - newly bought or newly sewn and never used. I do not have space for them because my stash has gotten obsurd over the years but my moral compass won’t allow me to throw them away! There’s nothing wrong with them… my sewing has gotten better and half of them are from my first year of sewing… the other half are from etsy makers that I took a chance on.

    How do your pads work for incontinence ?

    • @clothconnectionoutreachcharity
      @clothconnectionoutreachcharity 11 месяцев назад

      Cloth pads are great for incontinence. Liners for little sneeze pees, then moderate for more loss, and heavy for heavy bladder loss. Look for quick wicking toppers like pique, AWJ or velour and a PUL back for extra wetness protection.

    • @clothconnectionoutreachcharity

      Not much imo because there's no fuzzy fleece back to them. They're trimmer because fabric is spread out into 2 layers.

      Depends on how you make them. I have made mine with two H shaped pieces of flannel, which gives me a light absorbancy pad with 4 layers of flannel. Add a layer of fleece to one side and that makes it a regular for me. Put one more layer of flannel in each side and that's a heavy

      Flannel is probably the cheapest option. But the market is so saturated with makers, buyers are wanting more high end fabrics. If you're selling budget friendly pads it may be a good market for flannel core.

    And how are these pads supposed to stay in place? I personally don't think that bubbly minky would be very comfortable.

    • @clothconnectionoutreachcharity
      @clothconnectionoutreachcharity Год назад

      You can't feel the bubbles, but you can iron them out if you don't like it (before you sew the pad). They wrap around your underwear, so stay in place great.

    • @beccacoleman498
      @beccacoleman498 9 месяцев назад

      So when you're sitting on the toilet, place the pad behind the gusset of your underwear, then place one side over the inside of the underwear, then place the other half over the top of the first half. Stays in place pretty well, and I find this style to be THE most comfy to wear.

    • @clothconnectionoutreachcharity

    • @beccacoleman498
      @beccacoleman498 9 месяцев назад

      @user-um7tw6kx4r6 I DO wear them! I modified my original straight H shaped pattern to make a more asymmetrical/front bleeder style and I have to say, I love how comfy they are! I do not wear tight leggings or dresses or skirts...I mention this because these are wider pads and might be uncomfortable/visible if you wear skin tight clothes. I'm a heavy center bleeder and need a 3 or 3.5 inch wide gusset, and this style I find to be the best for that. I love how simple they are. I do make the AIO style snap pads too, but I like how simple the h shaped pads are to make. Not extra supplies needed! I have about 7 or 8 hours shaped in my own stash 😊 hope that helps.
