Ive just came across this i can't believe it, im 54 years old i learned about Vietnam growing up as a little kid in the 1970s my father sent me on a social studies trip to our nation's capital in 1981 i got to see the Vietnam memorial when it wasn't even completely fimished. I'm proud of the fact i got to see it and looking at the memorial and as a 12 year old boy i got to meet alot of different people on that trip and that trip definitely layed the foundation for who ive became as a person and alot to do with who i am as a man. I can remember speaking with my dad and asking him questions about things like how a military veteran could be homeless of all places where our President of the free world 🌎 lived. That trip removed the blinders from my eyes before i even became a teenager. My dad served in the army from 1953 to 1961 i was always proud of my dad for his service to our country. I came across this video this morning and had to comment and let you know there's people like me out here that truly does appreciate your service to our great country and i hope you have everything you need and your living your best life. Most of all thank you and God bless you and your family and friends.

So happy that his heroism in Vietnam has finally been recognized. I'm glad he lived long enough to be awarded the Medal of Honor. I know a lot of people were involved in his being recognized and all I can say is THANK YOU for your efforts. To Lt Taylor; you are an American hero.

It's amazing to me because I am very familiar with this story except it was from the perspective of a LRRP/Ranger from the war in Vietnam. In the late 80s through the 90s I was fascinated with books written by veterans documenting their experiences. I can't remember who the author was but I think it was either Rey Martinez or Gary Linderer who wrote the story which included all the division LRRPS and Rangers missions in Vietnam. GOD BLESS Captain Taylor and the 4 LRRPS/Rangers he rescued that night including their families who will forever share a bond.

As a civilian watching this video, as well as yesterday's MOH ceremony at the White House, I marvel at the quick-thinking, tactical wizardry displayed by this American hero. To figure out where, in that dark and dense jungle, "with no moon, no stars, the only illumination being the Cobra's control panel," to figure out the location of the Viet Cong village, the position of the stranded LRRPs, and the nearest safe zone; to understand maps and coordinates; to calculate, under fire, the angle and altitude necessary to strafe the enemy, as well identify a safe landing spot -- for a mere 10 seconds -- from which to pick up his mates; to calculate, in the heat of the moment, the amount of fuel available vs. the fuel necessary for a challenging rescue.... That all takes BRAINS. Yes, I realize they train for this. But you don't pass training on "balls" alone. Courage, loyalty, conviction, and BRAINS. I salute you, Capt. Larry Taylor

To the btthead questioning why, with already so many medals, Captain Larry Taylor is now (Sept. 2023) being awarded the nationsTOP military medal -- the Medal of Honor; and, in apparently deeming the award unnecessary, accuses Biden of "grandstanding," you need to be informed that it was Sgt. Dave Hill and his fellow LRRPS rescued that night by Capt. Taylor who started the campaign ~**6 years ago** to get him this Medal. So it's not some pandering political move cooked up by Biden. In fact, within Biden's first 2 years in ofc, he is acting on something that his twice- impeached, quadrice-indicted predecessor neglected to do in four years on the job.

Tears of respect and awe for the way these men fought for each other. Total respect. Welcome home and God bless each and every one of you, and always remember those who gave all.

Our country is blessed to have him as a true American hero. My Dad was in Vietnam in 1969 with the 101st Airborne. He always said the helicopter crews were the toughest. 10:41 10:41

Just saw this guy get his medal of honor! by Biden, Biden and his friends were dead set against the war and the military at that time and now that the military has been popular since the 80s' they want to act like they are pro military. And his put in wokness into the introduction saying women and men refruring to the military when everybody knows the military is "mostly" mans job!

Very brave, but this guy was already a highly decorated officer. What was the purpose of the medal upgrade? Was he passed over because of his ethnicity or something? This kind of smells like grandstanding by Biden.

Gary Linderer included this incident in his wonderful books, Phantom Warriors. As I kid I read this story multiple times and was in awe every time. Captain Taylor is an amazing Soldier, it's wonderful to see him getting recognized. Dave Hill tells this story as only an NCO could.

That's the stuff of movies- I never heard this story before, but I salute you and the new CMH recipient-

Last week I visited the grave of Alvin York, another Medal of Honor winner from Tennessee. They don't call this the Volunteer State for nothing. Congratulations to Captain Taylor.

As I said in my prior comment this is nothing but WELL DESERVED! Congratulations and I don't think there is a big enough BZ for you. FLY NAVY!!!
