Instalation of a "Wheeling Ramp" may assist cyclists at this location. This intervention has been used in Dover to link the Port at sea level to the White Cliffs Country Park. This field edge alignment appears to provide the most gradual descent option? There are less walkers who appear to prefer prefer the coastal/cliff-edge alignment.

Busier section of Barley lane passing residential houses on opposite side of road to country park lined with parked cars and footway. Rocklands Lane is access only to the Country Park.

Very rough potholed bound track to Holiday Caravan Parks along alignment B. via Barley Lane. Un-registered private road. Unclear who maintains although vegitation is kept in reasonable order despite lack of any formal management responsibilities. Barley lane's surface improves from Shear Barn Caravan Park onward due to ESCC highway status.

Good surface along this section to lockable gate. Currently SatNav is directing some users along this road who then have to turn back and return to Fairlight Road. HBC and ESCC to decide future access arrangements. Local residents have combination to padlocks. Pedestrian/cycle access avilable to side of field gate.
