I lived both and honestly, both city people and countryside people can be too isolating and kinda keep to themselves. But there are open minded people who can admit to cons in both locations. I don’t really like going to the countryside - it raises my stress and there is not much to do, for me. I wish small towns had more things to do and were less snobby and nasty against city people and I wish cities could be more laid back and less competitive and would be more healthier and organic. I’m 100% for a non-GMO organic city.

I definitely prefer city. Even though it can be noisy and overcrowded, I feel a lot more anonymous, which I prefer. I stick out like a sore thumb anytime I visit rural places and often get stared at.

My age 71yr old I worked long hours for 50yr years as a joiner on building sites retired now because I worked for so long I get less of a government pension than someone who couldn't be bothered to get off their arse and get a job they get the rest made up on benefits Alec from Scotland

country living is way more better than city living more quiet less noise than city living especially in places like new York where its very noisy less Hussle and bustle of city life plus country living is known for providing nice scenery for nature mountains and lakes ponds and rivers that you can see more simple living less expensive to live in the country can build a nice little off grid cottage in the woods to enjoy the birds the trees that are all around you to explore there's lots of natural nature scenery to witness in the country no need to take a bus airplane or any of that Hussle and bustle and spend all that money to go see it like people do in the city life because you are living in it you can get up in the morning and just go for a walk and see it for yourself right there in the woods sit on a rocking chair feeling the nice cool country breeze!

Ask yourself, "If I didn't get paid for this, would I still do this job?" If the answer is yes, keep doing what you're doing! If the answer is no, move on to something else when you can otherwise retire. Time to do something you like doing, and maybe get paid for doing that, too! Working forever and hating the thought of getting up every day to do it would be pretty awful.

Whatever you do in retirement, I recommend that you try to include one low impact activity which gets you some exercise such as walking/hiking, biking, swimming so that you can stay healthy. I recommend at least one indoor hobby for bad weather and one outdoor hobby for good weather. A hobby which makes you interact with other people with decrease your sense of isolation and improve your mental health. Lastly, if you have a limited income or are concerned about finances in retirement, then a hobby which will earn you some money is of great benefit. My current hobbies are drinking (currently whiskey), falling down, and crawling. These can be done around other people or in isolation, indoors or outdoors, and can be done in any geographical area or climate.
