WOW just found you! Very relaxing and enjoyable to listen to. Thanks! I enjoy your content. Question-I wonder if you feel anything attitude-wise changing towards Americans or are they still receptive? I worry a bit with all the things going on today...
Thanks and keep up the good work!
Excellent video with tons of great 👍 information 🎉. New subscriber here 😀.
Thank you!!
Great info as always, thanks so much for this vid. I too am interested in the agency used for your Nanny. And how would I go about hiring a "shadow" for my kiddo with autism? I can't recall if I asked this in your last vid, but how have ya'll adjusted to the bugs....if any. I'm not bougie LOL, just wondering. I don't mind geckoes, but cockroaches...ugh NO.
Can you recommend a trustworthy and reliable realtor to help us find a rental property? We are looking to move to Merida before this summer and trying to get everything in order. Thank you.
Yes! I recommend Fernando Toler. She is wonderful. Her WhatsApp is: +52-999-390-3433 or Barbara from Merida Moves. Her information is on Google!
Thanks for this video! How did you find a nanny? What agency did you use? How did u find your private chef
I used Fairy Nanny and Bambo Kids. Bambo kids is more affordable. They will find a great match. There is also a group on Facebook called “Domesticas, nineras, cuidadora, mozo, y mas” on Facebook that you can search for housekeepers, chefs, nanny’s, and more!
Fabulous!!! I’m moving to Merida and I am so happy to know there’s a stylist specializing in our textured hair 🎉 Thank you so much for sharing ❤️
I'm so glad to hear that! You're going to love it here. Hopefully I’ll see you soon at some of the events!
Thank you for sharing this. Our official move is June. When the school year starts she will be a 9th grader. She doesn’t speak any Spanish and hope to get a tutor do you happen happen to know private school wise is it 80% Spanish? I did see you mentioned all needed is last report card so we wouldn’t need her school records? And lastly I have heard they do enrollment in February do you know if moving down in June would prevent her from Being able to enroll in private? 5:32
How exciting about your upcoming move! It depends on the school. Madison and Keystone International School offer 80% English instruction, while Alianz is 50/50. Many schools use the Pearson curriculum, which is great! They also host tours from both Mexican and American universities for high school students. You can bring the records just in case, but I’ve only needed the most recent report card. Enrollment typically starts in February, but you can enroll at any time. I’ve always enrolled in the summer or fall and haven’t had issues, though space can be limited for PreK/Kinder. Make sure your daughter joins the Merida Teen Club when she arrives-they have so many fun activities and great opportunities to meet others. I hope you all have an amazing stay!
YAS QUEEN!! Even the dog richer than me 😂 well deserved pampering mama keep these coming
Haha she is living better than me too! Thank youuu! I’ll keep the videos coming. 💜
You are rich girl! 😊
Living the dream!! 💜
@BoldandAbroad I'm getting inspired ✨️ 😌
Great video and lots of info. I am a single senior parent, stretched that dollar raising my young and now need to do the same in retirement. What are the prices for a one bedroom? Are there any neighborhoods that are handicap cart assessible? What about pet care for all those dogs? Are prescription dog foods like royal canine and science diet available?
I found quite a few one bedrooms for around $300. I’m sure you can find some for less. I’ll do another apartment tour for 1 and 2 bedrooms in the area. I will say that Merida isn’t really handicap cart accessible. The side walks are terrible. Lots of potholes in the road. I am sure you can find a home and add needed adjustments for an affordable rate. Maybe even hire someone to assist if need be. I have a vet that comes to the house to treat my pets. Medicine and visit was around $40. Yes, prescription dog foods are available. We have a Petco and local vendors here. It’s easy to hire a dog walker, average rates around $10 for the hour or two. You can have a house keeper clean the waste out of the yard. It’s such a good place to have pets!
👋🏾May I PLEASE get Her #?
I placed her link in the description. Her phone number should be at the bottom of that page. I hope you reach out! She’s wonderful.
RUNNING ON MAYA TIME, NOT GREGORIAN CALENDAR TIME... EVVER SEEN THE MOVIE "THE PIANO"? WHEN NATIVES SUDDENLY DROP EVERYTHING AND THEY GO SWIMMING
Haha yes! I am trying to be like them.
The reason why they do not show up for workis because they find another gig that is better paid ( unfortunate but true). Most painters, bricklayers , etc are like that. Be mindful of them not showing up for work on Mondays . not unusual.. Therefroe, best to schedule for Tuesdays.
Thank you for this information!! I didn’t know about not scheduling on Mondays.
Thank you for sharing. Question please. Can you tell me a little about the school system? If your kids attend and how they adjusted? Again, thank you for sharing.
Thank you for watching! There is a video on my page dedicated to schooling here in Mexico. I discuss the different levels, name some schools to look into, and discuss adjustment. Let me know if you have any questions!
Where did you find your plumber and contractor?
My landlord supplied one. As well as the expat groups have a lot of reliable people. You just may pay a little more.
I ran across your video while researching Merida as a potential location to beg my husband to relocate to 😊 What is the likelihood of obtaining gainful employment if you don't mind answering? I have worked as a Business Office Manager at nursing homes for the last 15 years, which doesn't transfer well to other countries. I do have a Bachelor's in Business Administration.
Hey Sonya! Most of the jobs here are reserved for locals. And to hire a foreigner, the company would have to prove why they should hire you over someone that is already here. If you go the Temp visa route, you have to prove that you are making income from the U.S. you aren’t allowed to work here on that visa. Is there anyway the work you are doing can translate to remote work in the U.S? With your expertise, I wonder if you could do some freelance work as a consultant to nursing homes. Just some food for thought!
@@BoldandAbroad That makes perfect sense, and it's quite admirable that Mexico saves its jobs for its citizens. I have tried the consulting route before and will continue to in addition to looking for other remote work. Thanks for responding!
😅is not that the jobs are reserved for locals, you got to have a work permit but it will not make sense from someone coming from a country that people makes more money to come to Mexico and get a job making 3 to 8 times less unless you coming to work for a big corporation straight to management or higher position, it does make sense for someone coming from a poorer contry to come and work, its probably best for you if find a job online
I love your videos. Great info and always a lot of food for thought. Please keep them coming
Aww, thank you!! I will for sure keep posting!
what are the school hours?
Public school hours are from 7a- 12pm. Private school hours are from 7a-2p and my children get out at 1p on Fridays. Last Friday of every month there is no school for teachers to have a preparation day.
about the renting policy in Mexico...in other words, when you rent a place, you have the same responsibilities as if you own the house minus having to pay property taxes. Does that sound right?
This is correct! Any maintenance will be on the renter. Now, structural damage is usually on the landlord. For example, if my roof needs replacing the owner will replace it. But painting, plumbing, electrical issues, etc is on the tenant. Definitely read through your contract and don’t be afraid to advocate for any changes.
I have a 7 yr old i was so worried about the school system there what school did you mention so that i could look it up
Oh the schools here are wonderful. You shouldn’t have any issues. Here are a few schools listed below: Rogers Hall Americano Moderno Keystone International Madison International Smartium International
Your awesome thanks 🙏
Nice little tour.. Seems like a home with all the basics.. Rent is $600 ? What about utilities? Do you feel services like house keeping and Nannies are reliable there ?
Thank you for asking these questions! Yes, all the basics. But you can get a nicer home for a decent price. In January or February, my plan is to move and look for a bigger house in the city. So I’ll post a video on that. I forgot to speak on utilities. I pay $150 a month for electricity. The bill comes every two month’s. My bill is on the high side. I received my neighbors bill once and it was $25 usd. I run my a/c all night in one room and periods throughout the day. But it can be lowered. My internet bill is $27 a month. Yes! My nanny is super reliable. There are two nanny agencies I recommend, Fairy Nanny and Bambo kids. They both have reliable staff that you can use for longterm or until you find your own. Same with housekeeper. There is a Facebook group you can post to find a housekeeper. Usually your landlord will already have one they can suggest. I’ll do a video on this in more detail.
Thank you for the information, it was extremely valuable!
You’re welcome. I am glad it was helpful!
Your Intro goes by too fast.
Hi there. Great vid, thank you. How have your children transitioned? Do they attend school? Have they made friends. Have you connected with other black expat single moms or families? I love Merida, but am on the fence between it and Queretaro due to Merida's extreme heat....ugh.
Thank you!! My children have transitioned really well. The video I’ll post this weekend will include more on their transition, time with the nanny, and footage from their school here. They attend a bilingual private school here. They have made tons of friends. My son who hated school in the states actually looks forward to going! I have connected with other black families. There is a weekly black expat meetup at the park. We get together for major holidays. There is a monthly self care event, Jamaican brunch, and bar meet up! We are out here girl. I’ll post more footage of that as well! I am with you on being on the fence. Queretaro was another top choice for us. I plan on going to spend a week there and I’ll document my experience. The weather there and in Mexico City is what I want! But the black community isn’t as large. It’s such a tough choice!
Hi, no Macy's here in Mérida.
Very informative video..thanks. I'll be moving to Merida in March and those extra deposits and contract fees are no bueno. I used to love staying in PDC and Tulum but Tulum got so expensive. And PDC is a bit too "lively" for me. The areas I like in Merida are Conkal /Cholul. I love quiet and natural landscapes. You mentioned you are moving from your current house. Why is that?
Oh then you’ll love it here! Conkal has such beautiful homes. I am a city girl. I miss the smell of food in the air. Food trucks on every corner. Walkable grocery stores and restaurants. In Cholul onwards you’ll Uber everywhere or need a car. And the traffic that backs up from Altabrisa to Cholul can have you sitting for a while.
@AbroadwithBoldness Yes..I understand. I'm selling my car here in the states and will get another one in Merida. Not much of a walker, in heat..😓 Good luck on your next move 🙂
Nice video. I live in playa del Carmen. I was going to live in Merida, but it was like 3 payments and the notary almost same price, that you don't get back that money. But I do visit Merida a few times a year. Yes, my friend rent a 2 bedroom house for 3000 pesos a month, close to the airport. So there's a budget for everyone
Thank you!! How do you like Playa Del Carmen? That was actually my first choice before choosing Merida. I’d loveee to be so close to the beach!
@AbroadwithBoldness you are welcome, I love it here, I live a little out of the night life area, because I like a little quiet where I love, I am 10 minutes from the beach, 3 minutes from plaza America. And I have some land in Yucatan, about an hour from Merida. I will be in Merida this weekend and progeso.
@@LivingandenjoyingLife Every time I hear about PDC, I feel like I am missing out. I will have to come and check it out!
@AbroadwithBoldness I don't think you missing out. Playa is in the middle of cancun and tulum, a ferry ride to cozumel, 90 minutes to holbox, 3 hours to bacalar, 3 hours to Merida, you have two international airport in cancun and tulum about 45 minutes to an hour away. So travel is easy and much cheaper. So I like it for that, because I travel around Mexico and also go back to the states sometimes. I am going to start make better contents and focus mostly on Mexico. But the party life is here in playa 7 days a week on the 5th ave, and the beach is beautiful 😍.
Yesss! It sounds like yall have everything. Please post content.. I just followed you. I will keep on the look out of things to do and see for when I visit!
The Pucc Region in Mexico is a very friendly area to visit. I had a great time there. I don't want to live in Japan full time, but I want a small place in Akita Prefecture to hang my hat six months out of the year.
In a perfect world, that is how I’d spend my time. 6 months in Japan and maybe 6 months in Thailand or Mexico. We will see!
Best wishes. I’ve looking into moving over a year now and I just found out that I’m pregnant🤦♀️. I still want to come and possibly have this kid in Mexico so he or she will have residency and I’ll get mine😂.
Thank you!! Come on down! There are plenty of moms who come here, have their babies, get pampered in the process, secure their visas, and then they're all set. ❤️
