Phenomenal acting. I take Jack’s side, always. He gave Ennis the choice to live together many times, especially after Ennis got divorced, and Ennis refused because he was afraid of homophobic assholes and the prejudice of others. Then Jack is killed for being gay and they never see each other again, they never got to properly say goodbye. RIP Heath Ledger.

when jack told ennis: "That’s the most I’ve heard you say in weeks". thats when ennis knew jack is the only one who could make him talk about his life in a deeper sense like he see through his soul and thats why he loved jack.

"I am nothing"... "I am nowhere" Heath Ledger's line devastated me in ways you cannot imagine. It must be horrible to lose your identity. It seems to me Heath took the risk he was Enis Del Mar. In this line, as well as the one at the end of the movie, when he said: "Jack, I swear..." he expressed his deepest feelings. Both scenes blew my mind so much that I cried for one week in a row.

Jack always was extremely most stronger and resistent than Ennis in absolutely everything.

The more you revisit this film the more you understand that this movie is a lot less about the taboo of same sex relationships, and more about the tragedies of forbidden love or illicit affairs. If you imagined one of them is a woman, all the dialouge would still make a lot of sense. Because at the end of the day, it did not matter that much if one of them was a woman. At the end of the day, they are still betraying and hurting their wives, and more importantly hurting themselves because they have to live a lie. This is what happens when you have an affair. Yes that affair can give you love, passion, good sex, but it all usually ends up with too much sorrow.

I wish i never discovered this film. I am obsessed. It's been 3 days since i watched and i can't stop crying. WTF, I watched like 1000 movies and TV shows in my life, but this one always wrench my heart. I am very strong emotionally but i can't resist this movie. And i discovered that Heath Ledger passed away, and my world collapses.

I watched this thinking it was going to be a light movie and it absolutely broke me.

I feel really bad for Ennis. His marriage fell apart all bc he loved Jack. Jack couldnt understand that while Ennis was a free man, he was not free at all. He was no longer a husband to anyone but he remained a father to her daughter, thats why he couldn't accept Jack's offer to lead a lofe with him.
