I would try to use a baitcasting rod over 7’ and probably something medium heavy or heavier if it was me. Also the 200 size curado dc can handle 60lb I’ve heard people have some issues with the 150 size with heavy braid but I think it could handle it.

It doesn’t matter too much it’s easier to tie the connecting line to line knot if the line diameters are similar though.

If you’re just using mono the single uni should be fine as long as the knot you tie to the spool doesn’t slip.

@@SlammedOutdoors just spooled up today and I have a short on my channel showing it. Took me an hour to try and perfect the Alberto knot but turns out I didn’t need to perfectly fit it between the crevices when I would put it around the line. Loving my new Abu Garcia max pro. My legs and arms felt like I had Parkinson’s when spooling up because I had my legs and feet in the air along with my arms. But I feel like I just accomplished something big when I finished it.

Yea it’s brutal sometimes but some days are ok

I got the 150 size DC instead of the 200 and I’m throwing it on a 7ft Medium light and it balances pretty well

The baitcaster I was using at the start when I caught the catfish is a 13Fishing Omen black baitcasting rod 7’1 Medium, fast action with a 13Fishing concept C reel. 30LB Yo suri superbraid for the mainline with 15LB Segar red label as the leader. I also have a video up that made in March covering the rest of the setups :)

So do you just put the tape directly onto the spool?

Most of my bites came right on the pilings, some of them of flipping back under

I was using 30LB braid and a 20LB Flouro for the leader which might’ve been a little light. Hooks were Owner SSW needle point in I believe a size 1. I wasn’t using a very heavy Egg sinker probably like 1/4 oz ish, a lot of people were getting bit free lining so that would also be something to think about.

It’s 30LB Yo Suri Superbraid and I’m running like a 15Lb leader with it. It’s 8 strand braid so it looks a little thicker then it actually is.

It’s pretty nice I haven’t had any issues with it and it lasts for a while, it’s also a really good deal.

I was using live shrimp when I went but Greenbacks and or pinfish seemed to be the go to the last time I was there so the next time I get to go I’ll probably try those. Didn’t bring a whole lot of artificial but I’m looking for artificial stuff to throw the next time I go.

I’d try to loosen the tension knob to around 50-60% ish depending on how much line you have on the spool, the spool should still rotate but it should barely wiggle back and fourth if you put your thumb on it. If you set the tension knob about halfway this should help with that, the rest of the adjustments can be made with the brakes by setting it to 3 or 4 to start with and go from there. Hope this helps!

It’s weird that it’s still slipping with flouro, if it’s still an issue you could put a piece of electrical tape on the spool over the knot that you used to tie the line to the spool and that should help if it keeps slipping, braid has a bad tendency to slip if it’s tied directly to the spool. If it’s slipping on the hookset you might just need to tighten the drag unless your breaking off on the hookset. If this doesn’t help it lmk or check with bass pro to see if they have any possible solutions or if something is wrong with the reel itself.

I am having a similar issue. My drag is pretty tight but it doesn't work.
