This alongside Weight of the World and Song of the Ancients are my favorite songs of the series, maybe in general. It just resonates with my soul and makes me tear up just a bit... okay a lot.

Spoilers, but you’re probably never gonna play the game… WARNING: This is all an “IIRC”, I could be wrong. If there was one of the most *poetic* parts of Yoko Taro’s insane series, it’ll be Rose. She was born into a world that continually destroyed her perpetually. Rose’s mother never named her, and was sold to a brothel for some measly amount of money. She tried escaping, and was betrayed by her friend… The only reason Rose wasn’t killed by her “friend” and her suitor was because they were found by the brothel. Rose would never make the same mistake again, killing a portion of the brothel IIRC and stealing everything from them. She got robbed by bandits. Then, Rose killed everyone just to live. Man, woman, child. It didn’t matter, and she herself felt more like an empty husk. A depraved, cruel husk who killed families for food. IIRC, she became ill and was later found by the guards. She was beaten/flogged for all the deaths she caused, and was only alive because the guards severely underestimated the amount she killed. Rose had probably killed hundreds. But, 6 other girls had been also beaten and tortured. Not because they were terrible people- hell, they were probably the least corrupt people in the world at that time. They planned to conspire against the lord of their kingdom (once again IIRC), before one of them ratted the rest out. Their eyes, gauged- save for maybe one. Rose gained her name after the ring leader, who was still clinging on to life as the rest of her conspirators died, said it was the color of her eyes. She finally had a name(?). (Disclaimer, rose might have also gained her name before she escaped the brothers with her “friend”, but I honestly don’t remember.) The ring leader shortly died, and Rose was too succumbing to the injuries. The last thing she saw was a single flower, the same color as her eyes. She reached out for it… That flower possessed her body. Rose was reborn, and with new abilities. An Intoner. But, she (somehow) realized that those abilities granted by the flower would destroy the world. Here’s the most profound part. Rose was despised by the world her entire life. She was born to a mother who hated her, betrayed by a friend who faked a facade just so she would have another hand hold more stolen valuables. She killed in a world with so many people who hadn’t deserved it, just for a meal. She was tortured and whipped. Nearly killed. No, she was killed. And resurrected by a flower that could kill the world that ruined her so much… Instead, she tried killing herself as an act of defiance. Despite the cruel world, she saved it. We never know why, but it could possibly have been because of those six/five children who aimed to fix their broken country. Maybe there was a world worth fighting for. But the flower did not let her die. From her wounds, five kids had been realized- possibly reflections from when Rose saw the kids who were tortured. Rose tried killing them- all to save the world, but this peculiar blonde one prevented the incredibly injured Rose from killing her siblings. In fact, all of them had numbers engraved on their foreheads. One through Five, and those became their names. Rose took the name Zero to fit in… Those “godesses”, Intoners, with the power of song, were bound to destroy the world.

Nier automata's music is already excellent, and I rank it as the best Ost of any game. But this one from Nier Replicant.... is the most beautiful music I've ever heard in any game I've played in my life. I don't have the words to say how magnificent it is... It brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it. The Nier games are pure masterpieces... as deep and complex as their stories when you really get down to it. Then there's the soundtrack, the art direction...no, really, Nier...it's incredible. Truly deserving of their place alongside the old Final Fantasy, Star Ocean and Tales of.

I'm from Indonesia. This is a very underrated song... it's not just only beautiful, but also epic, and most importantly, somehow has this sadness, transient, ephemeral, depressing, melancholic, & deeply existential feels...

I don't understand square enix. Nier automata was a massive success. Replicant's remake was also a big success. So what's stoping them from remaking these games? I rly want to play them but that's a pain in the ass. Just remake the damn games square enix, and ill play them ffs.

This game and the whole Yoko Taro universe brought me back into life, I was a really depressed person and after a few years enjoying such artworks I made my mind up (of course with help and therapy) but man... this games... I wish everyone could experience them, Zero hating her life, seeking nothing but her own death and in the end... She made a friend, she made her life worth but It was too late. Never give up on life, things will get better, love the one's who love you before is too late for yourself.
