My main 1.0 base is in the rocky desert….right by the coast is a great location to build. 6 iron 3 copper and 3 limestone right by the coast. All normals. There is also coal not too far away for making steel.
Good to know, the 3 copper veins sounds like it could be very useful.
I like your video but i would "advice" you to unlock some alt recepie for your future projects
Yes, I need to find time to do a hard drive hunt livestream for this play through, it is where I got the hard drives in season 1
I don't mind watching you scout the island for the mine. It's part of the gameplay, your voice is soothing and as you said, i won't have missed anything then. The search is indeed painful. I agree that a divining rod would help. I think, circumnavigating the coastline and filling in the missing parts would be a good idea. From what i understand, there are 3 mines randomly placed but with equal distance from each other, like a triangle. The way i did it was, i scouted the first couple days for the mine (circumnavigating near the coast) and settled between it and the coast (as it was close enough). I'm on day 250 on my second long playthrough, ran out of iron a while ago and have to do the running around for the second mine now ugh :D Looking forward to the next episode. I do enjoy your playthrough.
I appreciate the feedback and comment, thanks Chaotic. I will start as you suggest next week with circumventing the island so we know how much we need to explore. I did also recheck my knowledge after recording this one to make sure I was right with it being 3, glad to see we are all thinking the same there :) I am curious about your comment on running out of iron, are you needing to have that many tools on the go at the same time?
@@Blue_Kraken_Gaming About the iron: I'm not exactly sure what happened, but we seem to constantly run out of rakes and hoes and i can't find any iron bars laying around anywhere. I've started setting up a storage for metal parts quite late, that was my bad. Rakes, hoes and knives are my main problem. Think my second mistake was giving the drawing knives a higher priority than normal knives. At the time we needed carpentry materials, but in total we need a loooot more normal knives (i got 12 cooks and 8 hunters). Nails are the only one-use-item and we use them constantly for tools and building. As for the rakes and hoes, i am currently redesigning my whole village (116 people rn) and am gonna set up a second blacksmith, because rakes and hoes share the same iron bar base material. Whenever there is an iron bar he makes a rake, that goes into storage, he makes another one and so on. I have to make hoes myself atm. So i have found no other solution to get rakes AND hoes going, other than having 2 BS and giving them different tasks. I have in total 13 2-hand swords (can't remember the exact name rn lol) but waaaay more warriors. So redesign to less gates anyway but i also want to see my sword storage filled up :D Also not enough helmets and i'm the only one wearing a leather gambeson. So yes, a lot of iron needed at some point :D Sorry, that was a lot :)
@ChaoticMind759 that sounds like quite the bustling metropolis you have there. And yes I can see what you say about needing 2 blacksmiths to split the tasks like that. Guessing you are not getting many metal scraps from the enemy drops?
@@Blue_Kraken_Gaming I am aiming for around 200 villagers :D That's the amount i need for the design i have planned out. There is a small cemetery and a draugar field right outside my walls. I regularly go around hammering all the dead guys that my archers shot (nice on the job training for them xD ) but i can't be bothered to constantly run to a big POI to clobber and farm things for randomly dropped metal scraps. The amount incoming seems to be enough for the nails and keeps repairing tools going. Invasions are nice, obviously. But with my made mistakes of now not having enough iron bars and plates circulating, i am counting on the second mine and then i should be good hopefully. It's also a matter of how to set up storage for nails. A dedicated basked full of nails is nice to have but wastes metal, but combining it with other stuff feels like gambling over the amount of nails i end up with. It's all a learning curve and it is early access ;)
I don't think You should play Off Camera , maybe set the Villagers up to work on things and while You're waiting go explore
Thank you for the feedback, that appears to be the consensus so far, and yes I can set up building projects, walls are going to be one we need before next winter for sure, so we might be setting those up soon, that will keep the builders busy!
02:26 - I think you can't give up the planets because they have your gestalt pops on them, and to move them outside your empire would cut them of from the primary node, killing them. And since all your pops (including the cyborgs) are gestalt...
That makes sense, I think I just thought I could set up a splinter hive, but oh well we will just get super massive :)

@ i know you need computers to unlock railroad signals. But unlocking and building trains doesnt need it anymore

I know you stopped this series but here is a few tips overall: First of all, your oxygen problem was not that you have to dispose of your other gases, but your base was not pressured egnoth. The ideal is that you have about 1.8Kg of pressure all arround your base, this by itself would send the other gases down to the bottom. You could put more difusers arrount more spread out, try to have 1 for each 4 dupes. Other point to improve was the flow, I recommend arround all the stairs to have at least 1 free tile each side to help with it. Second thing about the wires, the hevy watt costs a ton of matterial, try to use as little as possible, you could just made the trasnformers close to the generators and run more simple wires because they cost less ore. For food you should try to plant mushroons, they are easy to plant since you have planty of slime on the map, it also have good growth and status for the dupes. And one last tip: everything is temporary, you could move the heater in between the plants in the drecko ranch to heat up faster just for the beggining and prevent the dreckos from dying and then later move it up there just to mantein. Ps: ignore my grammar errors, english is not my first language.
I appreciate all the tips and feedback. I didn't realise about the pressure so much, I thought just having the exhaust pipe to get rid of the unwanted gasses would be enough. We may have another run at this in future, the series did fizzle out a bit as honestly it wasn't getting the views I was hoping for. Hopefully you find some of the other series on here just as entertaining for you :)

I wonder why you sunk the snowballs last episode? They are as good as nobelisks but cheaper and easier to produce.
The honest truth was I was clearing out my inventory, and they just got sunk.
😉 A complete tear down and rebuild of everything might be called for , or am I the only one that does that ?
We have done that, remember when I tore down the original factory and built the nexus in season one, to give me a viewing platform, and get a huge amount of modular frames :)

You...sank the snowballs?! They're the only thing I want out of Ficsmas. They are basically nobelisks that stack to 500. Also, vehicles can have head-on collisions, which is why when I make multiple truck stations, I build them in a loop, not a line. You may have some collisions at the truck stations where you are supplying rotors
Yes I sank the snowballs, I am not set up with noblesks yet, but I feel we should be trying to get them soon, though they are not the next priority. Yes I have had some vehicles get stuck head to head like you say, it is why I am hoping the skyway we have built will help prevent that, as they will all enter the stations from the left and leave on the right. I do see what you mean about the rotor pickup spot, as that area gets busier.

Oh it's tiring isn't it, ours has brought a cold home from school.... Yay
Packaged liquid biofuel combined with sloops is awesome for the jetpack and explorer. Using sloops for every step of production allows a large amount of fuel without a lot of gathering. For the depots - I was thinking like you until I got to Oil and setup a big factory for fuel power plastic and rubber. I have the 3rd upgrade level for speed and stack size and still ran out and had to make multiple supply runs. It helps a lot but definitely does not remove the work on large builds. It was quite nice though once I got to finishing touches. I was able to decorate without running off for supplies and it made getting my design down easier without losing my train of thought.
good to know about the sloops in the biofuel production chain, I do need to go deep into the exploration at the moment for this find a lot more sloops and spheres. I do want to get a lot more research into the spheres to maximise my dimensional storage usage.
I'm also taking part in Ficsmas. As a seasonal event, I love that it practically makes us play along with each other, while the pace of the rest of the game is more dependant on the playstyle / time investment of each individual. Personally I don't bother with biofuel. I go to packaged fuel ASAP, as it is a by-product of my Rubber and Plastic factory. Regarding the dimensional depot, I can say that I absolutely love it. The difficulty in Satisfactory for me is to come up with ratios that are balanceable. Counting the resources needed for the buildings is something the game does for us. The depots also help a lot with exploration, as you can simply upload the not yet automated items you find near crash sites from your inventory (I recommend unlocking that at your earliest convenience) so that they don't waste space but are still available when needed to unlock a data drive. I'm glad that the restock-runs are a thing of the past.
well the reason I ask about the biofuel here, is I am sure in the jet pack they have set it so it is a slower burn style of fuel so it lasts longer. I do enjoy ficsmas, I am surprised how much it is a present hog this year though where everything I have looked at is pulling on it
@@Blue_Kraken_Gaming Well, if you stamp down a manifold of 8 Constructors for each of the ficsmas items, of course you'll need a lot of presents - especially if you don't feed them individually. 😆 I reached the point where I could unlock the gift giving trees pretty quickly, using one overclocked constructor/smelter for each item. Although waiting for the required resources for one tree is now a slob...
so we do get the gift trees on Thursdays episode which is nice, and yeah I have been trying to supercharge it :D

03:51 - To quote Edwin Star, "War (What is it good for?)" 14:22 - I've not played a lot with the new machine ascensions, but isn't your empire size a bit too high for virt at this point? 16:06 - Surely virtualisation, no? Given you took the Perk... 19:49 - They're now too strong for you to rival. 26:02 - "In trouble there" may qualify for the understatement of the millenium, I think. 30:30 - I can't help but agree - and I'm not sure I say a way out. You need to cut down on colonies, but with the biotrophies, that isn't easy to do. The only other thing I can think of, is to just go mad building energy districts on planets and on habitats, but I've a feeling you don't have the other resources to sustain that.
So I do think we have screwed the pooch here, but I think where we are virtual we can just 'shut down' colonies, and I think it will allow us to do that even with bio trophies. but I will check on Saturday when I record next.

Don't select the build order, then hover the mouse over a system and _leave it there_ until the full info panel shows. If it still doesn't show any info on Arc Furnace sites, it's because there's no molten world in the system, which is a prerequisite for building it. 05:47 - It also showed on the tool tip when you moused over the potential construction site (which I didn't realise it did). Said "Arc Furnace Deposit Sites: 6" which is a terrible system to build it in :) 06:27 - Unemployed biotrophies and a massive shortfall in amenities. 10:42 - My general view on espionage is that the first operation you absolutely must do is Acquire Asset - it drops the difficulty of other ops if you assign them to help, and can generate special outcomes. 12:30 - The way you do that is to ship them large stocks of alloys and strategic materials on the cheap. And if you know of any marauders, send them to raid the Raveners. Also espionage. 14:13 - Every operation has an "infiltration level" cost - Maximum infiltration level is dependent on the relative strength of your codebreaking and their encryption. It is likely that they researched some new encryption tech so you're max infiltration level is now lower than the cost of the operation you're running, meaning you will never be able to launch it (unless you improve your codebreaking to match). 14:45 - In this case, you should abort the operation immediately, as you are not likely to improve your codebreaking any time soon, and I think you're still paying the EC upkeep (and you have a rather large EC deficit and low stockpiles). 15:57 - You also have 'Exceptional' amoeba; 'Exceptional' is better than 'Epic'. 19:36 - That one appears to be a bug (possibly related to capturing them????) 21:33 - This seems to be a recurring theme in your playthroughs... 29:02 - Not really sure what you're trying to achieve, here. This feels a bit like war for war's sake?
good to know about the specimens, though it looks like they have different empire size modifiers, unless I full on misread that. The main intent behind the war was to try and weaken that empire enough to try and vassalize them.
