This is a Jason Pastras Trio original number, Think of the Future, that we decided to kick around a little on a slow night at Fat Matt’s recently. I wrote this a while back, and it’s going on our new album, which is scheduled for a fall release. I think my voice was higher when I wrote it (ahem).

Otis Rush is one spellbinding motherscratcher. Nothing makes me sweat like an Otis Rush tune. And it’s really impossible to reproduce the heavy emotional terror of his performances - when he sings and plays a slow blues, it stops time. This one is among my favorites of his, and we changes it up a little here to make it less similar to “My Love Will Never Die”, and also to imbue it with our own ...

The JP3 tangle with the awesome product of Albert King’s supreme might! And let’s give Tommy McClennan some credit, too.

The Jason Pastras Trio is an Atlanta area blues band. We are always experimenting with ideas from R&B, Rock, and Psychedelia, but Blues is always the foundation. Here’s the first number of the night at Fat Matt’s, probably my very favorite gig that we do.

Jason Pastras from the JP3 doing a JP3 gig, but with the members of our old band The Luxury Kings filling in. I felt like playing a slow blues, but in my feverish state couldn’t settle on a particular song, so I did a little bit of a medley of Junior Wells, Freddie King, and Robert Nighthawk.

Playing one of my fave Eddie Taylor numbers at the magnificent Fat Matt’s with the fill-in band for the JP3, who could not make it that night. Instead, it was the JP1 (me) plus the incomparable Luxury Kings - Eric Leland and Luke Wampler.
