Got this for media and gaming. File transfer is pretty much impossible. Hooked up to a PC if i try to transfer 5 files about 1gb each it will hang and then fail. If i try to Plug in a SSD via OTG it insists i format it before use. Between this and it freezing its crap

It's still 12th gen because the chipset and everything else about it is exactly the same. The only thing new is the ram bump. I do think the newer lenovos (M9 I think?) are better overall.

That's a really clever installation method. I've never seen one like that. I don't use screen protectors myself, but my wife loves hers. I'll be book marking this for future reference when she decides to upgrade her iPhone.

Something a bit more niche, I noticed on the Notebookcheck website that Amazon seems to swap the screen on these between generational releases. The 2020 release has the same physical design, but that display measured 500nits whereas the 2022 release measured barely 400nits with a worse contrast ratio. Both the 2022 and 2024 model are considered 12th generation by Amazon, so I was curious if you notice any difference between the screens of your 2022 Plus and 2024 models.

what is the difference between this and the fire hd 8 plus ? this one is half the price as the fire hd plus , it has the same chip set as far as i can tell and same ram ? both say gen 12 .so is the 2024 model the 2022 hd plus without wireless charging ? the hd plus is advertised as 30% faster

I do not want chargers in my devices. When companies used to include chargers they were very low wattage to save money. I would rather use one of my expensive high wattage chargers instead. It would be better it they included a USB C to USB C cable. I would prefer the £250 top of the range Fire Tablet which costs £250 but is always reduced to £150 on Black Friday or Prime day.

it's not worth full price is what I can say for sure. with a discount - yes, a good and durable tablet for media consumption. one day they'll make the screen fully laminated :)

I have a fire hd 8 from 2020 the 10th gen I only use it for reading web browsing tik tok and honestly still works ok I can not complain I get what I pay for I mostly use it for reading. When I travel it’s my everything from streaming emails just basics

Didn't know it got a refresh i had 2020 version but the performance took a hit😅 4gb of ram is a bit too sluggish imo

A better chipset is much needed, would pay a bit more for better performance, fire tablets suck even with light apps only after a few months.

Apple is ripping us off by building these fragile laptops knowing that we will easily break them and bring them in for repair. 💰

Yeah the brightness is good, but what's the point in brightness if you keep seeing yourself and everything in the room during dark scenes and black screens. A screen that handles reflections well sounds better than the screen being bright, to me at least. Otherwise during daytime half of the screen is filled with reflections.

Some performance metrics would be nice.
