    Looks like a lovely paddle. Did you go all the way round Skomer or just go down the Eastern side of it? Either way, I presume you'd have paddle through Jack Sound or Little Sound. Didn't notice any rough waters in the footage so I guess that you passed through near slack water?

      Hi, We would have gone around,, on a small neap tide with little wind and no swell,, Skomer is a unforgiving environment, always some confusing waters at the West end and jack sound is slack for 5 mins a day..... on a day like in the film it is magical...

      @@mattfurini6292 thanks for the info. We were planning on going round Skomer but after much research and views from Pembrokeshire kayakers, it may be Mission Impossible for us. Will probably pay to go on a guided kayak tour with the experts instead. We’re even wary about paddling from West Dale Bay to Martins Haven now as part of our Wales circumnavigation, unless we can do it on a neap tide and pass through Jack sound when it’s at its least turbulent

      @@mattfurini6292 thanks, I checked out the video you referenced. The outward crossing over Jack sound looked quite daunting, especially between 1:40 to 2 mins in. Other than that, the rest of the paddling looked pretty calm and the return trip over Jack sound wasn’t so bad. We’ve paddled some rough bits of water around the Wales coast but Jack Sound looks like it’s up another level from anything we’ve done to date.

    Great video. We planned to do the same trip launching at Ynyslas about 2 hours before high tide, paddling up to the Dovey junction bridge and then back to Ynyslas with the outgoing tide. Do you think 4 hours or so would be enough? looks like you stuck to the channel on the North side of the estuary on the lower section rather than meandering up the main channel that google maps satellite view seems to show? Is there any way to do it as a one way trip with 2 cars, eg leaving one upstream somewhere near Derwenlas or just paddling down from Machynlleth bridge? Cheers

    • @mattfurini6292
      @mattfurini6292 Год назад
