North Menan Butte is a large tuff cone in Jefferson County, Idaho. The trail that follows the rim of this old volcano is a 3.5 mile lollipop loop with roughly 750 feet of elevation gain. More information about the butte here: www.blm.gov/visit/north-menan-butte-trail
Thanks!

Awesome video! So beautiful out there. New follower here. Crow✌️
Thanks so much for the kind words and the sub. I feel lucky to be relatively close to some amazing country. So many trails, so little time...
Headed up for this ride from Phoenix next week. Thank you for posting this content
Wonderful, I hope you enjoy it!
You're pronouncing the word "creek" wrong.
Someday ill get to see a moose in the wild, ive never even seen tracks!! Think I'd be more worried about them over a bear, which I also haven't seen while hiking... lol Another plus for winter camping!
Last winter while snowshoeing in the same area I unexpectedly came upon a mama moose with her young one at fairly close range. They were bedded down in the snow and immediately stood up. I did a 180 back down the trail. I'm just glad she didn't come after me. The moose sign in this latest video wasn't fresh, but I was sure on the lookout since I see them often in this area.
@hikingwheather that would be sketchy!! Think those way more lucky to attack than bears! With little ones anyway? I seem some baby Buffalo this year but small revine between baby's n me... Definitely got alittle too close to some solo males I came up on haha
Yes, best keep your distance from bison too. Hence the NPS slogan, "Don't pet the fluffy cows." 😆
Was a crazy winter in Wisconsin, only put the snowshoes on 1 time 😂 have 2 mountain ascents in early april im guessing theyll be needed for. Think over summer im gonna look at some skis for next winter. Ski touring though, think itll be faster/easier than snowshoes for distance...
We got most of our snow over the last month, but now things are warming up pretty fast so it won't last too long. I've never skied fully loaded for winter camping, just for backcountry cabin stays. I don't know if I could handle XC skiing with 40 lbs as a smaller person! But you are right: skiing has advantages over snowshoeing, it's a more efficient movement and easier on the hip flexors. Give it a try next winter!
@hikingwheather I'm alittle crazy, so my first ever backpacking trip was on snowshoes haha! I like running off adrenaline however it a good week to recover after 17 miles in 2 days!! About 12 was groomed, rest was breaking trail in 1-3 feet of Midwest snow... solo as well for excitement
@@SuperdutyExplorer , wow, you live by the philosophy of "go big or go home!" 😆
@hikingwheather best part of the asphalt paving life, you learn to push past what you think your limit is!... if I can work 85 hours in a week, shoveling 285 degree asphalt all day, the sky is the limit! Haha, but yes you have to be alittpe crazy 🤪 also, once I got a garmin inreach, I felt safe to do anything...
Beautiful adventure. Liked and subscribed
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Looks like an epic hike, with some nice weather!! I haven't made it that far northwest yet...
Nice video 👍❄️
