We do recommend the use of primer on all PVC connections. It's not mandatory, but will give you the strongest connection.

If a solar panel is cracked it is either from freeze damage, low quality product, or improper installation. All the solar panels we carry are premium quality and last 10-20 years depending on brand. I don't have anyone specifically I could recommend, but our customers who don't have the DIY capabilities typically look to reputable handymen, roofers, plumbers, and general contractors to do a job like this. It's really not difficult, and we can walk anyone through the installation process. We also have installation manuals and videos to help as well. Whatever we can do to help we are willing.

The pool is around 250 sq ft. The system is (4) 4x8 panels that total 128 sq ft of solar. The recommended flow rate for this system would be about 13 gallons per minute. The water coming out of a solar pool heating system is typically 3-5 degrees warmer than the inlet temp. There are many variables, but a properly sized system will typically increase overall water temp by 8-15 degrees after 3-5 days of consistent run time.

Not currently. The widest cover we currently stock is 20'. We will be offering wider options in 2025. A 2-piece cover would be an option to consider based on what we currently have.

Anything is possible. They are very secure when trimmed to the size of the pool and surprisingly stick quite well to the surface of the water.

The valve allows you to divert water through the panels, or bypass the solar panels to just filter unheated water. There will still be some water in the panels with solar off, but water will flow straight through the headers and back to the pool unheated. The design of this system is aimed to make the installation extremely easy. It keeps the solar inlet and outlet connections on the same side of the panels and is a less expensive option. If you want a more advanced kit with a real 3-way solar bypass I would recommend checking out our SwimEasy Triple Threat system.

We recommend "I Love A Clean San Diego" This nonprofit organization supports recycling efforts in San Diego County. They can provide guidance and resources for recycling pool covers and other materials. www.cleansd.org

GeoBubble covers are fully recyclable and made from LDPE, which would be the number (4) recycle symbol. Not sure about guidelines for other brands though.

Water should always feed into the bottom header pushing water up and out the top of the panel. This properly pressurizes the system and balances water flow. If water was pushed into the top and out the bottom gravity would pull water faster through the panel and not pull as much heat out of the panel and into the water reducing heating performance.

The drain loop assembly connects the solar feed and return lines together with a small hose so that when the pump is off the panels and feed pipe automatically drain back down through the return pipe. All you need is a drill and bit to install these. The pipes must be right next to each other as well the hose is only 10" long

No, water will always follow the path of least resistance, so with the valve open water will pass straight through both headers and back to the pool unheated. With the valve closed water is forced down the panel and back heating the water along the way. There will be some water in the body of the panel with the valve open but it's not being forced through. This kit was designed this way to be a simple and quick install and affordable. We do have a different premium kit with an external bypass as you are describing, which is our SwimEasy TT Triple Threat.

A properly sized solar pool heating system will increase water temperature by 8-15 degrees, sometimes more, depending on variables such as seasonal weather conditions, panel orientation, and daily solar run time.

Safety first!

They are thermal heating panels, so the sun heats up the panel and your existing pump pushes water through them and produces warm water. No electrical components to these panels.

In theory it could, but there is no data to support that. It would also depend on how much of the roof is covered. The panels are cooler to the touch when water is flowing through them so it could help.

Yes, these are thermal heating panels, so a pump and filter are required to cycle water through them.

@@pajeeper420 Most systems tie into the existing pump/filtration equipment. An independent system can be done, but it's not a common method. The pump horsepower requirements depend on the size of the solar system, length of plumbing runs, and height above the pump to the panels.

It depends on your location, orientation of the panels, and the results you want to achieve, but a general range for total system size would be 200-300 sq ft of solar panels. If you have space for the longer 4'x12' panels that would (4-6) of that size.

The check valve prevents water from flowing backwards through the solar system. This is an automated system, so for a true hands free automation that check valve is required.

The solar panel (header and thin body tubes) is made of Polypropylene. The glazing is made from polycarbonate.

Virtually any distance can be achieved with the correct pump and/or booster pump. The flow rate for most systems is fast and will not lose much heat on the return if it's long. 100 foot plus plumbing runs are common.

Yes, they can be installed on a flat roof. The main concern would be draining water from the panels. Any time the weather reaches the low 40's there can be no water in the panels. A minimum pitch of 1/8" per foot of panel is required for drainage.

This customer purchased (3) 4'x7.5' panels, but I am not sure the pool size. We recommend a solar offset of 50%-100% of the surface area depending on location and heating goals.

Yes, the solar should be tied into the pool equipment after the filter, but before the heat pump. You may also want to consider a heater bypass so that you have the ability to bypass the heat pump as well.

Swimming in the winter relying strictly on solar is virtually impossible unless you live in a warmer climate like Central or South Florida. In winter months the days are shorter, and the sun is much less intense and lower in the sky, so significant solar heating gains is difficult. Pools also lose a lot of heat at night with the low temperatures. A properly sized SwimEasy solar pool heating system will typically increase pool temperature by 7-15 degrees based on seasonal weather conditions. A pool cover, such as the GeoBubble high performance pool covers we offer, are also a great option to reduce heat loss and also retain the heat you are putting in your pool from sources such as solar.
