Catching snapper in the middle of the day
Просмотров 139Год назад
Gradually increasing the depth you target as the sun rises can increase your chances. Less light penetrates the bottom the deeper you go. A really good technique for chasing reds is using jigs in deeper water. You are able to fish vertically and ensure that you are right where you need to be based on the sounder.
Knowing what a snapper bite looks like

This quick tip explores the different teeth marks that species leave when targeting snapper. The benefit of using the atomic plazo is that you can see the puncture wounds in the plastic. Snapper teeth marks are round punctures that are sporadic. You can often tell the size of the fish based on the size of the teeth marks. It is handy to know what species you missed when you get a bite... just t...
Getting your boat positioned for a snapper drift

Another quick snapper tip... How to position your boat when rocking up to a patch of reef. 1. don't drive over the reef 2. check the direction of the current/drift 3. Find the pressure edge 4. start your drift about 30-50m away from the reef so that you come up to it... Chances are the bigger fish are right on the edge or the flats.

Atomic Plazos work a treat...A rough guide to the jig head size based on water depth. Remember that depending on the speed of the drift you may need to add weight to get tot the bottom. The main thing is that you plastic hit the bottom by the time it has drifted back in line with the boat. Here are the names of the Atomic Plazo colours that we use the most regularly for snapper: - grey ghost - ...

Bimini Twist
Просмотров 363 года назад
Simon Fisher walks us through how to tie a Bimini Twist. A great knot for both braid and mono when the angler is trying to tie a double. A double is basically a longer length of line that has twice the strength as it forms a secure loop. The double can be used for a shock absorber when marlin fishing. Or it can be used with braid to strengthen an alright knot.

A guy taught me to put your ball sinker in a bucket and roll them around on each other that smoothes your sinkers
I like the somg and your voice. Made me think of the movie Suicide Squad. Sounds like a good fit for that movie.
What is the make of your fly vice 3:02
What is an eddie ?
Some cracking fish mate! well done. I am heading up for a week in July. Can't wait
Great information mate. Difference between drifting again for a Dragon Snapper or moving spots for a big Red
Which extractor rod are you running mate? I picked up some 100g jigparas after your Aus Lure Fishing podcast
Hey mate… there’s a few models. If you are using 100g jigs there should be a light jigging rod rated to 100g or 120g I think the one below 120 will be ideal. Otherwise you won’t get the bend through the rod and nice action. Personally I would go lighter as they are great rods and once hooked up can handle big fish.
@@saltydogs8631 thx mate
The whiting video was the Excellent and this one is Good. I subscribed because of the whiting video. From a Aitutaki Cook Islander
I’ve been to the cooks before… beautiful place. I hope you get a lot of fishing done there
Dear how i can make like this fast what i need to arrange? And then ?
Get some lead, boil it up and pour it in the mould. Have some wire running through for the hole. Wear protective gear
Hi. How do you determine current from navionins app? How do you drift without always snagging your end?
For determining current… there are a few ways. To determine direction on naviknics. You can check the direction of the wind and see if there is any influence on the drift line. You can also drop a lure below the boat to see which direction it goes. Sometimes getting snagged means you are in the right area. But to avoid… look how fast your lure sinks, then compare to the water depth and count out the time in your head. I hope that helps…
Many thanks for this response. Very important info for me to learn…
😊
great video mate. I just got a yaminama sniper to try on XL sootys up here in FNQ. I reckon it will do well. Cheers mate! 👍🏻🎣
They go really well on the sootys… send us a pick when you nail one
@@saltydogs8631 Cheers mate, yeah I've got a feeling it will slay. I've just started on social media, I'm on Instagram and Facebook as UpNorthFishingAdventures. I'll be adding photos to that with the sniper, sugar pen, hardz cicada etc this summer. Just waiting for my leg to heal and I'll be straight back into it. 👍🏻🎣
I used these with the Team Catfish weight slides to make a ruclips.net/user/postUgkxdmsDj7fQXe77DC0l7P7ua8B3PiESUubM Carolina rig and they were perfect for the ponds I fish. I have also used them to make 3 way rigs and these work perfectly. Haven't had any issues with them snagging in rocks or in weeds yet.
Are you really filleting a fish. Specially Jew fish.
?
Too small snapper 😅
Thats awesome, do you think it would work in 80 meters
Tried and tested…. Just need to find the right ground
Woooooooow
Nice on chaps! - SMITHY 😉🤙🎣🐟
Those whale sounds at the end are just wow. Thanks for the tips! My question is how do you anchor right around the flats
The whale is cool! I rarely anchor for snapper. Especially when using lures to be able to cover more ground.
Another cracking episodes boys!!! Top notch! - SMITHY 😉🤙🎣🐟
HORSE of a Snapper boys! Cracker! - SMITHY 😉🤙🎣🐟
such a satisfaction to watch your filleting, nice job
Ye
what camera do you use
We use a canon 7D mark 2
Was that emmagen?
a lot of bacteria when you go through stomach cavity and make the knife dull stomach meat fishy in taste and has more toxins giving bad experience!
What weight is that fly rod and what fly line do you use I'm looking to get into fly fishing but don't know were to start i would like to have one rod and reel to do a much as possible
Tell that fella they are both a 6wt rod and reel and 6wt floating line that is a good setup to start learning fly fishing with as its easy to learn to cast with and you can target all your estuary favs like flathead bream whiting and blackfish and even pelagics if on a boat and it will also work perfectly as a freshwater outfit for trout and bass… If its a rod or reel rated for 5/6 weight or 6/7 weight both perfect…spend more on the rod than the reel if it isn’t a combo. Hopefully this helps
@@saltydogs8631 thankyou that helps a lot fly fishing is a hole new rabbit hole to go down is there any particular fly line that works best for all the species you mentioned
A quality floating line is perfect mate 5 or 6 wt
Wipes his nose before handling fish 😂

Pretty cool they're there despite huge numbers of people!
Hi buddy marlin season coming ? Isn't the water getting cold
Yep... we made this in December and are just posting it now. Good to see you are on the ball
@@saltydogs8631 this year have been a long season water temperature is still warm and marlins are still being caught in sydney. It must be the La Niña effect
This is great. It looks like the fish isn’t gutted but when filleting the fish, I’m not seeing any guts, what’s with that?
The guts are very small and most stay attached to the head
Thanks for takin the time to break it down, most of the others just show them doing it in bugger all time with no explanation
U r a expert mate, when I fillet them first fillet comes good and when doing the other side head comes off the bone that's annoying. I'll keep trying.
Keep trying... maybe remove the head of your fish so it lies more flat. Easier to work with when turning to the other side.
@@saltydogs8631 Thanks for giving couple of tips guys. I'll try that next time. Cheers,
You can try filleting the next side from the tail towards the head it can sometimes prevent the dislodging of the head from the frame
Good to watch, nice job 😎👍
You're a gun filleter bro, nice to watch😉😎👍
Looks really satisfying. All of it.
Nice vid blokes! And good tunes reppin The Grogans 👌🏾
Hey bud, what brand /model is that knife? Great vid thanks
Josh Pittorino it’s a Kees has filleting blade... comes in 2 sizes 9 and 7 inch... I have both, but use the smaller one mainly for bread and butter stuff
Salty Dogs thanks buddy, appreciate it
Great helpful vid
Really enjoyed this video!! Big thumbs up and subscribed!
Hi Ryan, where do i buy the knife you are using on the whiting?
Gavin Fitzgerald hey mate, the knife is a 7 inch Kershaw filleting blade. You can grab one from frogleysoffshore.com.au.... they are a distribution company but during Covid you can get it sent from the warehouse but charged yo your local tackle store. It explains it online. Happy filleting
Nice edit fellas 🤟 live the Daintree
FISH BY FOOT Steven Dangaard watched your one out there the other day... we tried to have a crack at the jacks in a river mouth but no joy

Awesome video mate! I live in the Daintree and this video has really done it justice - sensational 👍
Wash your hands!
Who has time to scale, gut and remove the gills of their fish??
Good question... No need if you are doing this when catching your own... Bit different at the markets when they come in big batches. Want to keep them as fresh and tasty as possible
Great looking spot. Brings back some happy memories. :)
Wears a mask and then uses the grinder on them with no mask......dope!... lead particles all through the lungs....good one....
Can you give me a Fishing Weight Making Machine? Please
