Dragon Ball: That Time Gohan Befriended a Robot, a Dinosaur and Some Orphans
Просмотров 5252 года назад
I'm going to be dipping my toes into the world of Dragon Ball with this video as I look over a little collection of episodes from early on in Dragon Ball Z's run which focus around the initial development of the character Gohan and his transition from a useless crybaby to the beginnings of one of Earth's greatest heroes. Also, it's all filler, so I'll spend some time talking about why that isn'...

Well, here I am to talk about the character of Goblin Slayer again. This time it's why I relate to Goblin Slayer as an otaku. 0:00 - Intro 1:00 - What it means to be an otaku 4:54 - Obsessive 7:49 - Outcast 9:42 - Insecure 11:15 - Socially inept 15:47 - Emotionally illiterate 19:23 - Anxious 23:28 - "Real talk" scenes
Goblin Slayer: The Use of Selective Coloring

This will be one of my shorter Goblin Slayer videos thus far, but it's one I'm still very excited for. I’ll be talking about the anime's use of the visual style known as selective coloring and how it serves as an effective storytelling tool. 0:00 - Intro 1:24 - Sets it apart 2:52 - Mimics their perception 4:31 - Some exceptions 4:58 - Noble Fencer's flashback from the Goblin Crown film 7:30 - O...
Patema Inverted: Seeing the World from a Different Perspective

This time around, I felt like taking a look at the science fiction anime film Patema Inverted. The main thing I wanted to talk about in this video is the theme and messages of the film. Some other things I'll touch on include the world, the characters, the basic plot and a few other little details. 0:00 - Intro 2:03 - From the beginning... 5:12 - Two worlds in one 7:33 - Weird physics are neat ...
Goblin Slayer: The Food

That’s right. This video is going to be focused around the food of Goblin Slayer. I bet no one saw this one coming. To be more specific, I'll be talking about some examples from the show where it utilizes food to build up the world and the characters. 0:00 - Intro 2:14 - Some thoughts on food 3:10 - Sharing food around the campfire 7:29 - Water Town's local specialties 11:07 - Making ice cream ...
Goblin Slayer: The Morally Ambiguous
Просмотров 6 тыс.3 года назад
Within the series of Goblin Slayer, not all things can be so neatly divided into good and evil. Characters and their actions can be more complicated than that. That's the idea that I'm going to be digging into for this video. 0:00 - Intro 0:58 - A simple start 3:04 - The tough choices 8:28 - The goblins 13:17 - The adventurers 18:06 - Is Goblin Slayer the monster?
Goblin Slayer: Is the System Broken?
Просмотров 11 тыс.3 года назад
Once again, I’m going to be talking about the goblin issue within the world of Goblin Slayer. This time though, I’m going to focus less on the goblins and more on the other side. I’ll be digging into the system they have in place to deal with the goblin issue AKA the adventurers and the Adventurers’ Guild and I’ll be addressing how there are quite a few flaws with the system as is. 0:00 - Intro...

Goblin Slayer: Everybody Else

Oh, look. It's another Goblin Slayer video. However, in this one I’m pretty much going to be talking about everyone but Goblin Slayer. Well actually, I do somewhat, but he’s not the main star this time. It’s time for some of the other characters to get their time in the spotlight. I’ll also be skipping Priestess, Cow Girl and Sword Maiden as I feel like I’ve talked about them plenty in other vi...

Goblin Slayer: The Most Controversial Element of the Show

I was pretty anxious about this one. Honestly, I kind of wanted to chicken out and push off this video, but I talk about how I feel the fact that people are too afraid and uncomfortable to openly talk about this issue is part of what breeds so much misinformation and ignorance about it. Therefore, I felt like hiding it or pushing it off would be hypocritical. If I'm going to commit to covering ...

I just wanted to mention this was good video retrospecting these episodes. Honestly these filler episodes were the reason why I continued to watch Dragonball Z. I remember watching these on VHS when they came out and I have the whole Saiyan Saga on VHS 📼. These episodes are the roots and hidden meaning of Gohan story arc. This is why I think Akira Toriyama should have continued Gohan as the leading protagonist. Watching Dragonball Super Super Hero the movie has made me love Gohans story even more as an adult now that he’s father and still had to fight because he needs to not because he wants too but to protect his own family like his daughter Pan and Piccolo is still there teaching him lessons. I feel that these filler episodes bring a lot of heart and soul into the show and I could mention a bunch like when Goku and Piccolo had to get their drivers license that was another good episode during the android saga.
I really enjoyed your video! reminded me how much heart was in Young Gohan story!
Your series of Goblin Slayer videos were entertaining and well-analyzed. Thank you for them and for sharing your journey. Keep grinding and the joy will come through getting through the struggle, learning new skills and deepening your relationships and making new ones.
In fiction, I can think of few charcaters that absolutely has my respect, and I think there's only one I idolize. That's him, Goblin Slayer. His thoughts are always so interesting and reading the manga and novel would project his inner tone, and the intensity in which he carries out his actions. His charcater, his flaw, everything about is so goddamn interesting.
Yeah, I liked how, in the light novel, that party from episode 2 didn't make it
Rape.
This epsiode hit me hard as a kid. The dub left me hanging, then the Japanese played the happy "Goku's home" music which upset me at first. The robot episode also was sad but it helped. It had a fealing of closure
I think the world really falls apart when you consider that virgins have the power to return people from near-death, and yet it's no one's priority to save women from being raped by goblins in this world.
S tier fookin' content
The definitive video essay about Goblin Slayer. It made me connect with the character deep within myself, thanks for that

How has this video not popped off, I've watched it 3 times already. Every time I think about the scaling or rank system of Goblin Slayer I think of this video.
Great video man. Specially the end, you really said some things I needed to hear right now. Last place I expected to hear these things was in an anime character analysis, but thank you.
I wish they kept the Goblin Lord's backstory in the anime. The Goblin Lord learned how to manipulate other's empathy and using it against them. Kinda like how Goblin Slayer beats goblins at their own game. The Goblin Lord went out of his way to learn to speak in the common tongue, like how Goblin Slayer went out of his way to learn the goblins' behaviors and habits. Goblin Slayer hates goblins. The Goblin Lord hates adventures.
My favorite part about those rare goblin types is it shows how even low level monsters have the potential to do damage. They are still monsters after all. Not to mention **THE** Goblin Slayer was almost killed by a Goblin Champion. A goblin that even the goblin expert can't beat.
Goblins may be low level monsters, but they're still monsters. Monsters are dangerous and sadistic.
Another interesting way that he learned many of his tricks is show in goblin slayer year 1. During that manga we see he had a friend who was a wizard and after she left by ascending to some other plane of existence or something she left him everything he had. Which included a whole building of books on various bits of knowledge. We see him using these and even developing some of his most common tools. Such as the throwable that he uses on goblins which dull their senses and make them easier to pick off.
First time hearing the english voice of the dwarf, dear god they butchered my man.
14:54 Would be surprised how many doors open just by asking. People generally want to showcase themselves and their work.
This was such a weird movie! Glad people are still interested in it!
24:40 yeah
12:41 he did in fact used it to kill in season 2
I had one dangerous lifestyle but things changed, I do not do maybe I cannot do what I used to do anymore, I loved with all my heart someone because I thought I would not make it, and that ended in a pathetic way, honestly I lived my life thinking my end was coming before 30, I even looked for a proper place or situation as good as any other to get a resolution. But here I am and I do not find a new thing to do I did not even fit on my previous job, also automation is making it difficult for me to continue, so I cannot fit I never did. Cowgirl suffers from social anxiety btw, she does not leave because she wants to stay with him but because she wants to risk as he does and she would die with him if he dies and suffers as he has suffered. Moving on, so I met my childhood friend again a few years ago, but obviously she moved and I am glad she did, with kids and all that jazz, still, I found myself suffering a lot because I had never been the priority of anyone and that seems to be the perfect excuse to dump me as well, I do not like the DnD stuff, I am bad at medieval or fantasy things except for Tolkien but this manga clicked on me, for certain aspects like how practical are some missions and how nothing goes as planned which is something that happens often, but it was not the GS guy but cowgirl who clicked on me. She never moved, she never fleed, she does not fit, she is not particulary brilliant, she is aging and kind of a joke, no social recognition, no special at all, (obviously she is the most beautiful girl on the show along with the high priestess but actually she is more beautiful IMAO) I understand her, because I cannot relate to him, I can't believe any task I had done or could do could matter more than someone like her, if I could retire with someone I would just retire, I would have done that, long ago, I am a shadow in her life and I cannot offer anything, I want to go but I want to stay as well, being a man is being alone really alone in a dark place, like a prison, that's why love is a curse as well, it ties you to life. I wish she could be at peace and she can be happy, I mean it for cow girl as well, the manga goes into another direction however. Anyway good video.
Hi men don't know if you'll see this but I hope you'll make a video for the second sessions of goblin slayer 😄
Fun fact: Goblin Slayer is actually extremely young under that armor in season 1. Somewhere between 19 and 21. Edit: My mistake. He's between 24 and 25. He's 25 as of Goblin's Crown. Still very young, though.
His System is full of holes (I don't mean that it is full of plot holes or power levels, but of administrative failures on the part of those who organize the missions) It's to be congratulated that the adventurers practice their combat skills, but they are very immature in the practical field (Missions in different environments, formations, optimal reconnaissance for missions, etc), they simply request to register and are already going on dangerous missions. In fact, as far as I know, the guild or the Goblin Slayer himself haven't made a kind of "encyclopedia" of monsters, they don't bother to record how the monsters behave, what they eat, where they are usually found, when they need to be careful with them, etc.
hi Devi, it's been awhile, just wanna tell you that season 2 came out, if you're still active then i'm looking forward to your new videos, thank you.
I think the genius of goblin slayer is that he's the epitome of the guy that makes the world go round. He's not doing some glorified crusade against evil, but he's doing a job. And in his own right, he's a hero to many untold masses of civilians who are alive because of him. He has songs made by bards remembering his deeds and stories told of his grand goblin exterminations told to children. He's kind of a hero, but to the adventures, he's a lowly goblin slayer. It's likened to how military personnel relate to each other. The bulk fuel guy and mechanics keep the military moving, but the infantry guys who go fight may call them POGs, but actual spec ops guys really appreciate their work. Cause you need those guys to make your choppers work when ypu really fucking need it. And civilians still respect them cause they do service for the country in their own capacity. So it's like the ultra high rank heros understand goblin slayer and the civilians respect goblin slayer. It's that mid tier adventurer that thinks he's less important than them. And in the final battle, you see everyone kind of appreciate how much goblin slaying is actually a huge chore and can have very dangerous encounters with hobs and champions.
Thus logically, Total Goblin Death is the only possible solution!
That wasn't even a fake out, he legit died and had to be revived
Nah fam. The manga (both regular GS and Year One) at least does present the goblins as having actual sapience and being naturally and genuinely evil, disguting creatures. They don't just take what they need to survive, they actually enjoy the harm and suffering they cause and they also think that anyone besides themselves (at an individual level) is a piece garbage. There's nothing morally grey about how goblins should be dealt with, they should be exterminated with extreme prejudice and without exception. Fucking filthy, disgusting GAWBLINS!
It’s still makes me raise my eyebrows at the people who have called the scene were fighter is assaulted fan service or sexy. Like I’ve come from that seen so many times for the sake of my own analysis, and I genuinely can’t see how anyone could see the scene as titillating in every single version of the seen I’ve seen.
Its like a commentary to todays society. Do we have enough essential workers? No. Is their job easy? No. Is their job well paid? No. Do we make their job easier or their wages higher? Of course not, fck them.
I thought about it multiple times but in MHA i strongly believe that Izuku could just go full on Batman and beats peoples ass because how quick on his feet he is with thinking. But I like goblin slayer because he looks out for the regular problems that everyone has. Not Climate change that the regular person bearly can affect, similat to a demon lord. But making sandwiches so schoolkids have something to eat when they come from a background of low income and struggle dayly!
its explained a bit more in the light novel series. goblins are pure evil by design. they were created to be pure evil towards humans and elves especialy. they do evil because they see themselves as the victim at all times. whatever they do to others is deserved on their part cause they arent goblins. whatever is done to them is injustice cause it is done to goblins. and they dont become like that when growing up. theyre born with that mindset pre-installed. the backstory of the goblin lord shows exactly what happens when one shows mercy to goblin children.
Someone gotta club those baby seals.
Now that im thinking about it hes basically medieval punisher or a very violent batman just replace criminals with goblins
Honestly if i was making a gritty dark fantasy dnd campaign where every monster encounter is a life or death situation with dire consequences for not thinking ahead i would have a character like goblin slayer in it
when will you upload again man
to me it really feels like a return to classic older anime
The way you say Iruma sounds like "a roomba". Guess he's a robotic vacuum cleaner now :)
I love the emphasis on Goblin Slayers technique and skill. The blacksmith asks why he uses such a cheap sword. And a mage asks him why he practices throwing different weapons. He simply states he can't just rely on a single weapon. If he loses it after killing a goblin he picks up the weapon he dropped to kill another. He brings an extreme amount of adaptability and forethought to any situation. It's like the mangaka developed his characterization through his actions more than just his words.
People tend to forget he's not only hunt goblin. He do side quest to make money, kill wizard fuck dragon all types of shit.
For the taking out the boss makes the remnants scatter, there's an easy real life parallels to compare with terrorist and the cartel. You can kill a leader for either and it will hurt the organization a bit, but it won't stop the people in them from committing crimes.
man am I glad I found this channel what a gold mine!
I wonder how badly the Guild Leader got reamed for one gold coin per goblin head, when it's clear they go for silvers at best but we have seen that its a copper/silver/gold economy.
You absolutely nailed it for a facet of Goblin Slayer I enjoy, he is genuinely one of the most humble characters ever. He sees the value in everyone and doesn't attempt to disregard or underestimate anyone. He holds no sense of mental or moral superiority towards others. It almost veers into self deprecation, however when it comes to goblin slaying he will unabashedly claim his expertise. He's no scholar either but tries his best to learn what he can, he is self admittedly ignorant of much of the world and takes no shame in saying so. His combat ability is very average, so he considers everything and anything when it comes to strategizing, nothing is beneath him. Also while Goblin Slayer certainly values working smarter than harder, he still does both. His skill with throwing weapons is quite good, and it was only possible purely due to practice and repetition.
Man please read something about goblin slayer that we dont know about and make a video on that I cant wait for goblin slayer to continue anymore
The feral hog analogue is perfect. People assume they're relatively harmless but they're so devastating. They're a mass of muscle and destruction able to take multiple rounds from firearms, able to learn multiple types of traps, and honestly just refuse to die. They kill turkeys, deer, calves, goats, sheep, and other animals domestic and wild. It's so perfect.
