Understanding the Income Driven Plan One Time Adjustment
Last year, the Department of Education (ED) announced that they would be implementing a one time account adjustment for all eligible federal student loans. This adjustment would potentially give credit under the forgiveness component of the income driven plans and in some cases, Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). This adjustment could be particularly valuable to those borrowers who have been paying their student loans for a long time, or who may have missed out on the recently PSLF waiver due to having Parent Plus loans or simply having missed the deadline.
