John Coltrane transcription - Mr. P.C.

One of my favorite solos and pieces by Coltrane; I had to figure out what he was doing. I'm a trumpet player so its in Bb and not up an octave like tenor players want it, sorry.

Your engraving is gorgeous
I need PDF transcription of this solo for Alto sax.
すげーなこりゃ
well done
fabulous transcription. any way to get a pdf transcription. thanks for doing it and posting it on youtube.
Great job on the transcription, but just a side note, the two chords in "Impressions" are derived from the dorian mode, so techniquely the two key signatures would be D major (two sharps) and Eb major (three flats) respectively...
Thats not how modes work
Bb trumpet. E and F on trumpet are D and Eb on C instruments like piano
@kennyr1161 @NoahCrawfordpostsband I think he’s saying E Dorian has two sharps so the key signature should have two sharps as well. Idk if I agree or not but I’m sure that’s what he meant
Great! Would you happen to have the chord changes?
+T.S. Vineberg It's 3 chords! Sit down at a piano and figure it out!
Browsing...finally listened!
FANTASTIC SOLO!!!!
Great! I'm an alto player and I'm always very picky about my transcriptions so RUclips isn't exactly a happy place for me to find them... but I couldn't ask for anything better than this! You could write it in Fb and I'd still dig it.
Hit me up! I like money
well done, thanks! I transcribed this years ago and lost it in a finale file somewhere pre-sibelius.
You are the man! Thank you! Just finished watching this and I want to put this idea in my practice. Do you know of any books that use this technique in exercises(playing in 3 and 5 note groupings)?
Why did you write the whole thing down an octave but still in Bb? Any reason?
Solid effort!
Nice!
Wow. That's impressive. Great job!
nice work man definitely takin this to the shed...
nah they're all 12, I don't like to waste paper so sometimes I write half a measure at the end of one line and the other half at the start of the next line
good ol Coltrane... spot his style a mile away...
Just Wow.
Thank you. Resonating with all the other accolades too. Again, thank you.
The sound recording doesn't do them justice. I was there.
how did you do that? did you slow his solo down in order to better hear each note? i am also a trumpet player going into 11th grade btw :D
Great solo of an amazing player. I can't emphasize how coltrane is important for me. I'm now jamming with my guitar on Mr.PC Nice transcription. I'm not a good reader but as i could tell everthing was right congrats!!!
Dang. Nice job man. And awesome solo of course, but hats off to you for transcribing that whole thing.
it's amazing how little of the low register coltrane used before he picked up the soprano sax and still was a very effective soloist. this solo fits within the range of the alto sax, making it accessible to many more players. GJ on the transcription.
@starwarsjazz I don't know what that means...
nice job man, adding to our history!
