Okay, I love the 40k universe and the Marvel Universe. Be aware the MCU is not the entirety of what’s available. The Age of Apocalypse is yet another fine example. I honestly believe the creation of a 40k Cinematic Universe will create this same narrow view of 40k long-term. Cheers! Also DC sucks and your comments are on point.

The night lords have been my favorite chaos faction since reading the ADB trilogy. Good video. I will say however, that textually, even in 40k, Kurze was misguided at best. Yes, he had a twisted sense of justice, but even his first captain, Jago Sevatarion, pointed out that his methods weren't even ultimately effective. Yes, he achieved compliance with low casualties, but even his own homeworld receded back into violence and chaos less than a decade after he left. Tyranny and fear does not inspire loyalty in the long term, whereas his brothers such as Dorne, Sanguinius and Guilliman brought worlds into the imperium that would stay loyal after their back was turned. I still love them, they have a lot of character underneath the edgelord trappings.

Their obsessive nature should draw them to Slannesh.

18 seconds in and I already call bullshit. The Imperium's as stagnant as ever. The Nids are still invading and devouring worlds, the Votann are a thing and have the Imperium beat in technology of the human race, the Orks are beating Angron to death for ganking Yarrick, and all-in-all, the setting seems to be making the Imperium feel more and more hopeless, bland, and uninteresting. Between this, Chaos, and all of the other universe-ending threats, it's almost as if 40K itself is a mediocre setting that has all of these cool ideas and concepts that don't go anywhere, all so a bunch of deluded British people can keep suckering us into buying more of their overpriced hunks of plastic to assemble and paint.

I will say that GW did retcon Cawl wiping out the legion quirks - red thirst etc - though it was clearly because they'd gotten pushback/finally realised it was absolutely idiotic. Good video and very much agree.

The problem with 40k is that what was once parody is increasingly becoming reality. It’s like Onion News, it doesn’t work the same when reality is more absurd than fiction. If British culture increasingly forgets itself, something like 40k based on it begins to forget itself. And the American market increasingly becomes the focal point, which explains everything becoming how it is now as it adapts to their tastes.

So I started collecting the Black Templars because of the hatred they can draw from people. Now I am totally loving the faction and reading Helsreach...again. I am hesitant to read any of the more recent books involving the Templars because I don't really trust GW to leave them be.

I've known for years the imperium is trash. For anyone worth their salt would know that Tzeentch is the one true God. Just as planned.

I have nothing against Cadia, but do get annoyed as a guard fan that in a setting where there are literally as many regiments as stars in the sky, its 95% Cadian and 5% Krieg.

I thought old necrons were the only truly horror faction in 40k. A army of silent brutal killers. Wish they would have kept them more mysterious like the reapers though.

i m pretty sure the Kaldor Draigo scarring the heart of Mortarion was retconned. To be jonest, I liked it, but I would have loved that they give us more reasons as to why Kaldor Draigo, or the Grey Knights grand master in general, is capable of such a feat. At the time, before the custodians coming back to 40k and the primarch(s) return, there wasn t too much active legendary figure able to do something like that, and honestly, this is f*****g cool, I buy the lone daemon-hunter vibe, eternally cursed to roam in the warp until death. Just don t forget, he beat Daemon Mortarion as a grey knight, you cannot be sure that kaldor Draigo could do the same against any mortal one.
