A Protestant response. That body of Christians in the world known as Protestant are not protesting anything my friend. They are for Christ and his church. You are the one who is fighting against someone namely Protestant Christians. You are the one who is fighting against Christ and His church. It is an absolute falsehood that the reformers invented the term Protestant. That was clearly a term of derision directed at the reformers and invented by Roman Catholics. You lost all credibility with me by saying otherwise. The reformers opposed the heresy and corruption that came to characterize the leadership of the medieval church. They did not oppose the rank and file laity who had to suffer under the abuse of their leaders. The reformers felt nothing but love and pity for the rank and file. The Church led by the pope did not exist when the didache was written. The universal church and the group of Christians who follow the pope has never been and are not now synonymous. You need to repent of your sectarianism. The universal church consists of all the redeemed not just those who follow the pope. .

THIRD FACT; It has been claimed to have been written 'during the lifetime of the apostles'. False, there is no evidence for this. It most likely was written in the 2nd century. FORTH FACT; there is no way of knowing whether it has been tampered with or altered or added to! FITH FACT; It suggests that 'Christians should 'fast before they attend the communion' ( not enjoined upon Christians in the NT!) The most likely document is nothing to do with an 'apostles creed' since they apostles used the Holy scriptures that were available and did not write 'rules & regulations' ( 1 Cor 4|:6 ) No, iys most likely the independant instructions given to a specific congregation in the second century which evidences the way self made 'bishops' started 'Lording it over the flock'!

I think I'm probably a 6 or a 7. I think the lowest I've been is a 4, maybe even a 3, and the highest was an 8, flirting with 9. I can't bring myself to be a schismatic and as for why I was a 3 or a 4, it's probably due to my own failure to understand certain aspects of moral theology. Keep in mind, I'm not a fan of 'liberal' services like the teen life masses with the awful music as it feels too... disconnected from what we have inherited throughout the ages. There is no majesty or grandeur, just strong emotions and not of the masculine variety.

While the Solemn High TLM is a jewel of Catholic tradition, its era was not the universal "golden age" many idealize. Most historical TLM celebrations were not the grandeur of Solemn High Masses but hurried Low Masses with minimal lay participation. Weak catechesis was pervasive, leaving many Catholics unable to articulate fundamental doctrines like the Real Presence or indulgences. Syncretism-a blending of Catholicism with local superstitions-thrived in regions with poor pastoral oversight. The TLM itself did not solve these challenges, which often fostered passive observance rather than active engagement. The fruits of Vatican II, not the TLM, have addressed these historical deficiencies. By introducing the vernacular and fostering active participation, Vatican II empowered the laity to engage deeply in the liturgy and their faith. Modern apostolates like RCIA, Catholic apologetics, and evangelization ministries have flourished, producing figures such as Scott Hahn and Bishop Barron. This fixation on aesthetics can overshadow the Mass’s purpose: to encounter Christ in the Eucharist and to unite the Church as one Body.

Most non-Catholic/Orthodox Christians do not call themselves protestants, they call themselves Christians. 3. I don't believe anyone IS protesting anymore. I'm not allowed to be a Catholic. I would gladly commune with a Catholic but they wont commune or worship with me. I believe Jesus is God incarnate, I believe God is a trinity, I believe in the sinless life, death by crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I believe abiding in him and having a relationship with him makes me worthy of eternal life with him as he promises and one day I will be with him. Until then I am here to be an example, to be built up by him, to worship and follow him . By abiding in him he empowers me to overcome. I just don't buy all the extra dogmas that were slowly sprinkled in over a VERY long period of time (I'm talking to you bodily assumption not made dogma till over 1900+ years after Jesus actually ascended) Who are you to all of the sudden bind the conscience of a believer in Christ with such nonsense? Oh you don't believe we spend random spiritual jail sentences in a place called purgatory? Anathema!!! Lol, I can't even take that seriously! How do we all resurrect at the same time if there are all these random purgatory sentences? Also those alive in Christ immediately change and all go to the Lord? So no purgatory for them? The word has lost its meaning. While it was serious enough in the 1,500's for both sides to burn each other alive those days are long gone. I am a Catholic now but for most of my life I was a Baptist and I still value my Baptist past. My wife (a cradle Catholic) and I applied to adopt 35 years ago at a large " Evangelical Christian " organization who turned us down because we were "different religions" . When I called them back I spoke to a gentleman who me informed all Catholics were going to Hell. I responded by advising him that all Christians before the 1,500's were either Roman or Greek Orthodox Catholics so he was actually saying all Christians for 3/4 of the history of the Church were in Hell if he was correct. To give him credit though he had never even considered this and conceded the point and admitted he had misspoken but that these early Christians belonged to the Catholic Church before it was corrupted. I doubt the good Lord segregates us in the next life but knows our heart. While I don't pretend to have all the answers I do have an absolute faith the God will be fair about it!

IF you can get Protestants to read the Church Fathers with an open mind, there’d be more converts. The problem is that many have the stubborn attitude, “Don’t confuse me with the facts. I’ve made up my mind.” Also to blame is the Church Herself since Vat. II with poor or nonexistent catechesis.

Roman Catholicism is not the answer. It is just an organization built by people. Even if the foundation was laid by Jesus, they put all sorts of junk on top of it. Some say it was to make it easier to preach to the Gentiles and to make it easier for the common people to understand, but they created an image and put the organization ahead of the essence. In a way, it is acceptable that Peter was the Pope. But where on earth did the law come from that Peter was the Pope and that his successor was also the Pope? Was it the Roman Emperor? In addition, why do we need so many images to glorify the one God? The Israelites also made an image of Yahweh, who led them out of Egypt, under Mount Sinai. A golden calf!!! In addition, why was a priesthood needed to change bread and wine into flesh and blood? Did Jesus say to commemorate, not to kill his body every time? Wasn’t the peace offering to God valid and complete only once? Roman Catholicism is a castle built on sand. It has changed in many ways to suit the power of the world, and it will continue to change willingly in the future. What kind of infallibility can the world find in a pope who acknowledges homosexuality and accepts it into the church? If the world condemns homosexuality as immoral and illegal after several decades, what will happen then!!! If it is not attached to the Lord Jesus Christ, the cornerstone and foundation of the church, what good is the church? And if the church is necessary for the salvation of Jesus, why is Jesus necessary? Shouldn’t the church on earth simply replace Christ? The Roman Catholic Church cannot dare to give a proper answer to this question. It can boast of its traditions, its rituals, and its gold plundered from the New World, but the Roman Catholic Church has no ability to guarantee the salvation of even a single soul. Because it all belongs entirely to Jesus Christ, who is God. If you cannot acknowledge it and pretend to be the world’s answer, then I have no choice but to hand over a coin with the Roman Catholic Vatican on it, just like Jesus Christ.

Again, you are trying to tell the story of the Catholics under the Tudor and Stuart monarchies, and you are failing to answer the question: was it right that the Catholics suffered persecution? This piece should be fifteen minutes long!

I am not sure what is worse that the Roman Catholic Church "apologist" or that all the commenters don't actually know where the term Protestant comes from. We never protested the Roman Catholic Church, we protested a decision made by Emperor Charles V. So please get over yourself or go and crawl back under your rock. Which BTW Charles V, anointed by Pope Clement VII, Holy Roman Emperor eventually gave us what we desired, which was to go into schism with Rome.
