Correction, the higher trim Konas have the larger goodbye chime. The lower trim ones without navigation have the smaller ones. This also applies to the sonata, Tucson, and Santa Fe. This is the older Elantra N, and it plays it when the door opens. I'm guessing the new one does it too as it's the same infotainment.

Noted about how the chimes play on the second generation Kona. I think the first generation pre-facelift Kona probably had chimes. I guess it is the same chime as the facelift model? I feel like the goodbye chimes may play differently based on the market. In my country, the facelift Avante (you can guess which country it is, only 2 countries use this name 😂) has a sole new hybrid powertrain which replaced the sole petrol powertrain from previously. Even then, the goodbye chime played right when the ignition was switched to off. Despite being a hybrid, only the Ioniq 5/6 ready-to-drive chime was heard at the start; the shutdown chime was not heard, the goodbye chime basically served as the shutdown chime. Some new Hyundai hybrids have the shutdown chime and goodbye chime/animation play in immediate succession. Will prefer if the goodbye chime can only be heard after opening the door in this case. By the way, do Hyundais play the accessory chime if you turn the ignition to off with the door open (for cars with button-operated ignition)?

@_125bpm_ the accessory chime will play (in push button start cars) when ACCESSORY MODE and the door open. In key operated cars, it plays when the key is in the keyhole and the door is open. On the first generation Kona, the pre facelift lower trims did not have welcome or goodbye chimes. Only the higher trims did. In the facelift, all the trims have the smaller chime, including the N. Here the Elantra (Canada) hybrid plays the IONIQ ready to drive chime, as well as the shutdown chime, and the goodbye chime plays when you open the door. This is both in lower and higher hybrid trims. I feel like the newer hybrids should integrate the IONIQ shutdown chime and the goodbye chime better, because they have similar pitches and could have a very smooth transition, yet they are offbeat.

@@DriveTerosI see. Some car brands will play the accessory chime when the car is turned off while the door is open, even for push button start cars. I experienced this on a Corolla. I thought I saw a video of a Hyundai with push button start behaving this way, but maybe I’m wrong. I have never driven a Hyundai so I do not know how they usually behave.

The best part…the tachometer is anticlockwise. I think some Genesis model used a similar cluster design with anticlockwise tachometer 🤦🏻‍♂️ The later versions look better to me. For instance, the one on the Elantra and the one used for newer models like the Sonata facelift. Also I don’t really like that welcome animation because the Hyundai logo looks oversized. It feels like a big H staring at me.

@@DriveTeros previous gen is way better 'cause it’s got that VTEC sound at 5500 RPM, and the new 2025 Odyssey still got VTEC kicked in, which saves the ERA.

@@Not_italic I am getting 4.3L/100km yet getting a lot of torque. Sadly it's very small for what it is and suffers from reliability
