Paul continues his admonition to the Corinthian congregation, but now he specifies a church member who is guilty of sexual sin. How does Paul address the church and the member? How are churches to deal with this in our day in a manner that Jesus is pleased with? Pastor Darrell Winters

After Timothy’s return and the great report about the Thessalonican Believers progress in the faith, Paul is full of joy and thanksgiving. They were being transformed by God into the image of Christ. This is one of God’s works when He saves a sinner. Pastor Darrell Winters

Paul has been sternly rebuking the Corinthian Believers because of the presence of worldliness in the congregation. Whenever a rebuke is given, it should always be joined with an admonition to repent. Restoration is always the goal in church correction. Pastor Darrell Winters

Paul, Silas, and Timothy had not been able to stay with and prepare the Believers at Thessalonica, but for a brief time. Paul was concerned for these new Believers in light of the suffering for Christ they were already experiencing. He had to know of how they were doing. Being that he could not go back to Thessalonica at the time, he sent Timothy to find out how they were. Pastor Darrell Winters

Paul has been corrective and will continue to be throughout this letter. However, he is more stern here in his rebukes of the Corinthian Believers. They are demonstrating worldliness and act as if they are not aware of it. Paul must address them over this. Pastor Darrell Winters

Paul, Silas, and Timothy had been away from Thessalonica for a few months by this point and Paul was concerned for these new Believers. He wanted to return but had been prevented thus far. In the meantime, he would write to tell them of his love for them. They needed this encouragement. Pastor Darrell Winters

The Apostle Matthew wants his readers to understand that the One promised by God who would be Messiah, King, and Savior has come. Matthew doesn’t simply say, “Take my word for it.” He backs up his claims. Pastor Darrell Winters

With so many people claiming to proclaim God’s Word, how can you know that what you’re hearing is actually that, the Word of God? What will some of the evidences be when people hear the Gospel? What will the Word of God do in those who believe? Pastor Darrell Winters

Paul has dealt with the division among the Corinthian congregation regarding ministers. The men who shepherd a congregation have serious responsibilities.
