An interesting take on the soundtrack for 5-2 5-2 is inaccessible in this prototype, not even Debug Mode helps! It just resets the game when you try to load 5-2! at least the OST for it is in the sound theater

the music is different, the level design is different, the controls are slightly more painful… it’s everything you’d ever want to see in a prototype! I found this completely on accident and figured “why not make a video about it”

Apart from some graphical glitching in the cutscenes and on the left and bottom on the screen, gameplay isnt all too bad! you get a bigger (albeit buggy) view of whats going on and it gives us a taste of what Ristar on the Master System couldve looked like! sorry if you see some motion blur, I had a ghosting filter enabled to give the gameplay a bit more of an authentic feel on my phone screen, but I never disabled it before recording also yeah this whole thing was recorded on an iPhone 😵💫

Sonic 1 8-bit solves this problem by having zero loops, LOL.

@@ThatWindowsGuy488 I assume they must have tried when porting down for Sonic 1, but quickly decided it wasn't worth it. Now I think about it, there's also a lack of breakable walls. Sonic 2 has breakable walls but it does cause a lot of lag. The falling platforms in Bridge Zone also cause issues. The Master System just can't handle the same number of sprites as the Mega Drive, and really struggles to animate them fluidly.
